the galah
So Winston has delivered, and again shown his support for the racing industry. The industry is lucky to have someone with his influence within government.
Happy Sunrise
The Q and A on racing didn't last long. He is far more comfortable talking his own opinion. Maybe, we are lucky to have someone with influence but if he is so desperate to get off the stage then he should have stuck to racing only questions. He said RITA would not have been able to pay their creditors by the end of the week and the bank was calling in its loan. If you analyse RITA's balance sheet and where that $72.5m is going I bet most of it goes to the ANZ. $20m for the two synthetic tracks that was promised anyway. $2.5m to the DIA to get the Racefields legislation sorted (which they don't really agree with anyway) and to help out sporting bodies that no longer get grants from RITA. I wasn't aware the galloping codes had the funding for 2 synthetic tracks. Maybe you can enlighten me when govt had approved spending on that. So you agree $72.5 million is new. maybe you can enlighten me as to another nz politician who would deliver that. No doubt his announcement has been timed to coincide with the recent news regarding the cuts currently being undertaken in other areas effecting racing. Some people will never be happy with what winston does simply because they don't agree with his politics. Instead of playing the man they should concentrate on how he helps the racing industry and acknowledge the industry is very fortunate to have his support. It's now been revealed $30 million of contingency funding in the Provincial Growth Fund has been earmarked for the coalition government pet projects and the racing industry is set to benefit. Regional Economic Development Minister Shane Jones said the money set aside is at the upper limit of what he expects will be needed. The projects, which include a Dunedin centre of digital excellence, the Te Hiku Sports Hub in Kaitaia and several all-weather tracks for the horse racing industry, all came out of coalition talks between Labour and NZ First. No I don't agree it is NEW if the $20m for the synthetic tracks is included in the $72m. Winston had no option but to bail out RITA - they are insolvent! Where in my post did I play the man? Don't be conned by the smoke and mirrors.

So your saying he is repeating a promise made some time ago about all weather tracks.. Fair enough. Didn't realise those plans were more than wishful thinking. Gee it takes a long time for the wheels to get in motion doesn't it if that is the case.Your memory is pretty good. On face value the bail out is very generous given it has been a self made hole that rita made. I think the racing industry should be very grateful. To be honest you hear so much negative comment about these different organisations that you lose track of who is being blamed for what and whether the criticism is justified or not. It seems everyone is looking to blame someone else,. It all just becomes blah, blah, blah nzrb, blah blah blah hrnz, blah blah blah the tab.. Understood, some like to peddle alternative facts on the topic. NZRB is the entity who undertook the 50 mio TAB disaster with its ongoing 17 mio annual fee. Looking at it from the outside if you inherited a financial disaster which is what RITA found , you dont have any real options to do anything with the TAB website. People fail to grasp this important concept judging by some of the posts i read and clearly have no cognizance of priorities. Brodie
Form is temporary, class is permanent as they say! Refreshed and ready for post Covid form. Wont be offloading stRaight away as there will be no form to follow, but rest assured I am back! Question has to be asked though? did Winnie run this past our esteemed leader Ardern first before he was allowed to say anything???

He didn't need to run it past Comrade Ardern for the bailout. Anything under $100 million doesn't need approval so he just popped down to the socialist money printing commune (SMPC) just behind the Warehouse in Porirua and picked it up yesterday morning before the announcement. I hear he picked up 80 million but gave a bit out on the way back to locals as it is election year. ? 1
Brodie
Don’t think Winnie would be wanting to be listening to Comrade Ardern. Brian Tamaki certainly isn’t, even though he is normally a tosser, Inactually agree with him with not following the 10 people rule, and Ardern bringing in the new rules this morning. Ardern is a Communist and the sooner the sheep realise this the better as she is so dangerous.

My analysis is done on public information such as annual reports and other data plus a touch of common sense. That will be harder to do now because it seems this new Government era of "complete transparency" does not apply to RITA.
