Happy Sunrise
A race now between which can do the most incompetent thing. How they allow 2 people out of isolation to travel the length of the North Island is beyond me. Fark me.

They were given an exemption by the Government to visit a dying relative. If it was that important for the visit, why not bring the dying relative to the lock-down hotel? That would be mitigating the risk to the TEAM. They weren't the first 2 to be granted an exemption. It is evident that during the level 4 and 3 lockdown the Governmemt did nothing about the porosity of the border. Nor did the MOH do anything about their lax processes.
Yankiwi
Did their vehicle have a GPS tracker in it? Truck drivers would know all about these. They monitor speed while traveling including the speed of ZERO, for how long and where. How'd trusting the visitors to self isolate upon arrival go in the beginning? There is a raging worldwide pandemic out there, which NZ freed itself from even after all of the Governments early mistakes. What'd they do after the TEAM cleaned it up for them? Did you not read the article a couple of days ago that said that the flu kills 400-500 people every year in nZ and do we go into lockdown for months for that? Point is that our totally incompetent government once again can not do anything right!! How hard was it to do Mehe, when Ardern’s team of 5 million had to!! Ardern, Clark or Bloomfield should go Edited June 17, 2020 by Brodie

Basil
Last week everybody was complaining about the government having no heart (fathers not allowed in to be with heavily-pregnant wives etc). This week, everybody's bitching about the government having no head (2 women on mercy dash test positive for covid). Mistakes happen, even for the most competent and well-intentioned of governments (which this one, arguably, is not). But in the grand pantheon of mistakes, this is a pretty minor one. Let's not lose our own heads over it.
