New Racing Minister.

Makes you wonder how mercenary or morally corrupt the breeding elite are.......will there be donations going the Labour party way?

How do you spin a socialist leftie finance minister supporting the racing industry?  Perhaps he will target pokies (reduce child poverty) and then use that to  justify another benefit handout to the racing industry.

Surely, it is the best portfolio for the Finance Minister to hold to be truly able to scrutinize whether or not racing is utilising the recent handout appropriately, and whether further financial support in the future is warranted and truly justifiable?

Surely there wont be another handout, if Jacinda is truly a socialist, the money will go to community projects and the racing  industry will have to survive best it can.

Does he have any background in the racing industry? Apart from racing to the pie shop, that is

Will be interesting.      For starters, I  don't see the need for a Racing Minister at all...there isn't a M for rugby, netball, motor racing, etc.  And, reportedly, a former Minister, Annette King, apparently said that there was nothing she could do, whatever she might have  wished, as there was never a consensus, just a medley of factions all pushing their own barrows.

What is likely to change?   However able Grant may or may not be,  he is loaded with enough work to have racing sitting right at the bottom of the pile - as it should be - and I don't see anyone who has industry clout, is respected by all, and is logical and far-seeing enough to engage with him and actually achieve anything.
