Trains 3 winners but then puts in a typical z butcher drive where he seems intent on getting in the way of someone with his drive in the 2yo race.Maybe he thought he was at palmerston north again?

That was a 'Learning' experience for those youngsters for sure.

Zac Butcher drew the outside gate and tried to go back, but the pace slackened to a 32 second quarter, so had trouble Getting SUGAR APPLE back to the tail.

Maurice Mckendry pushed him out 4 wide 1100m out like a bully-boy, so then Karma kicked in !!...lol  ... and Maurice stuck 3 wide for the last lap.  lol.....  Zac preferred the death seat to letting McKendry past.  ...

Gammalite driver rating for that is Zac 5/10    Maurice  2/10   hahaha...

Cran Dalgety horse up front looks a beauty !!  he'll be winning a few. 10/10 !!!

Have you read the rules? The rule says you can't push out before the 1000m if the horse outside you has forward momentum and its nose is in line with the cart.

If you look at the video again clearly the butcher horse Mckendry eased out did not have forward momentum.

Butcher tried twice to push mckendry onto the fence prior to that, almost knocking them both over. Then when Mckendry came out he deliberately veered in again almost knocking himself over again. All this on a green 2yo.

That is what Z buthcer drives like sometimes. I've pointed out other examples in the past.  He is a brilliant driver most of the time, but in my opinion occasionally seems intent on getting in someones way. Why is that?

Is that the best you can do?

instead of criticising, how about you explain what you would have driven this horse!

For a start,I would have realised i was driving in a race in which they were all first starters. I would not have tried to push in twice in the first 300m,i would have gone forward with cover. Then there is no way i would steer a horse inwards and try and improve, which  by doing so it would obviously lock wheels.

Are you saying you saw nothing wrong with Butchers drive? If he did nothing wrong then do you blame mckendry for all the unnecessary interference that went on???

At the 1100m McKendry gave SUGAR APPLE (Zachary Butcher) that big a bump ,it virtually did a left turn as Zac tried to avoid the unnecessary contact . just about went 5 wide on the track.

Sugar Apple was 8th at the time and up to the death seat 100m later at the post a Lap out running 3rd.

I would say that is PLENTY of Forward Momentum.   Doubt McKendry would like anyone doing that to him.

Got his 'Just desserts' posted 3 wide last lap with OHOKA CREED,  looking silly , so all good.

Please show me the rule where you are not allowed to push in on 2yo's. Zac was within his rights to try and push mckendry to the rail just after start.

As for your comment about what happened a lap out Zac was once again driving within his rights.

I suggest you read up on the rules before you comment again.

there is nothing worse than clueless armchair drivers.

Don't think that clown the galah will understand all that. It will be above his comprehension level.

from your comments you should know.

By the way. I note you failed to answer my question. If butcher was not responsible then who was???

As i have said before,Z butcher is not a driver i admire much,as he sometimes drives to help others, and on other occasions he drives to hinder if he does not get his own way.

Having said that, there is probably no more capable driver in the north island when he just focusses on driving his own horse. Thats my opinion.

Yeah, I agree. Nothing much to see here from a 'dodgy driving' perspective, although as an owner I wouldn't be too happy to see my 2yos subjected to these kinds of runs at their first starts.

There you are Brods, I asked you these questions on another thread but maybe you didn’t see. Be fab to get answer to any or even PM me. Great to pick up knowledge. Even if its just 2-3 answers. Pretty please 😁 No probs if you prefer not to share.

1. Before you were restricted punter, did you bet on mainly gallops or harness?

2. Did you have a particular track you found was good to bet on if it was Harness?

3. Guessing you were really disciplined? & would only bet say once or twice a month & put $2k down ish per bet?

4. Was it mainly win bet or place?

5. Did you have any rules that you made?

6. Was there anything in particular you would look for?

Tell ya what Karrots , back in 1994 we were at University (UQ) with a horse and all of a sudden total Chaos , as a Flying Fox carried virus (named HENDRA virus from the Brisbane Suburb it started at) was killing horses left , right and centre...

And even worse,

People died as well..Everyone was terrified as never been or seen anything like it. Vic Rail a horse trainer Died !!

and to date 4 of the 7 people (vet staff treating the sick horses)  that caught it off treating horses have died !!

(the last in 2009.) imagine if it went out of control like Covid ?  wow ! it was a close call and VERY scary.

I HATE those BATS flying over each night even now.

Wow Gamms, thx for sharing.

Was thinking maybe Spitty, had Virus as Hunts said it was also in South.

But then he starts tomorrow. So must’nt have.

Will let Ludwig & owners have the thrill of following, as I have hit un-follow now.

Do hope for connections sake, that he goes well.

BUT will continue to follow wee SUGAR APPLE.

Still no real idea who’s the emerging front runner for 2y-os yet …
