Dean Taylor??

Wow, this guy had some great nags in the past, but last few years he has been going crap.
Some long term owners of the stables spent a few quid couple of years ago, to get better stock, same results, poor.
Maybe he is too honest to be trainer now, not prepared to dope his hags to win, hats off to him if thats the case.

Another reason may be his drivers, he used to have Mark Jones as stable driver, when things going good, now anyone seems to drive, sadly not real good drivers, worth a thought

Dean is a decent man and a gentleman, he is a worker a very good trainer, and an honest man straight up down, does not suffer fools gladly. He has not got a large team in work, like the group one days, but he will come again. It wasn't that long ago that i read a similar post on here about Benny Hill, another Group one trainer and also a Straight man , great eye for detail , slowly building a nice team around him

Yip Dean definitely had some nice horses back in the day...Thrashem,Crushem and Rare Touch too name a few and yes he was blessed with some good drivers such as Mark Jones and Anthony Butt...and now Sarah O'Reilly who goes very well. Just like most trainers they go thru lulls,am sure he'll bounce back.

You might be right, but the lull has lasted many years now.

He hasn’t had a real decent horse in years, makes you wonder why!

Ariella is a very good filly that just needs a new trainer for her to show her best, the day she gets a decent trainer we will see the best out of her, maybe she needs to go over to Oz, a wasted talent just going  around for Taylor and getting worse and worse.

Ariella went very poorly today, even after dropping back in grade. Taylor has had a terrible time with his nags the last couple of weeks.

If i was one of his owners, i would be getting them down to that Woodend beach, I have heard horses improve overnight🤭

At the moment, Deans horses would have to start earlier by 30 seconds to win races!

I know a couple of stable clients who rather than breed from their previous mares, decided to spend more money to buy young horses.

I feel for them, they have been loyal to the stable for many years, results are poor at best.
Surely comes a time you try another trainer

Interesting topic this one. Did a little research to see where things were at.

Is it that Dean's team isn't going as good, or more a case of other trainers taking away the available number of wins available.

Back in 2003 when he trained his best mark of 46. The highest # of wins by a Canterbury trainer for the season was 51 - David and Catherine Butt.

The market isn't as open as what it once was. Half a dozen Canterbury trainers win probably half the races available therefore reducing the available # of wins available to other trainers quite considerably.

Yes, he lines up a lot of horses - but take the likes of Lilac Change, Lydia and even Go Davey out of the mix and there's almost a third of his starters for the season without a win.

There's some nice horses coming through. Two 2YO's that line up today at the trials go nice. Barnstormer finished a good second to Franco Indie who was a big winner on Sunday recently.

Tiger Taylor looks an OK horse too.

I don't know if I'd call it a sad state of affairs but more an indication of just how good you have to be to win a race these days.

Give me 100 Dean Taylor's winning a dozen races a season and doing it honestly and with integrity than some of the rubbish we've got going on at the moment.

You may be right, but it must be sad as a trainer to see them run down the track.
Nothing against Dean, I do not really know him, but seems a decent bloke. Stable clients are certainly loyal, not sure i could.

Still do not think he has had a winner? Has Lydia in first race today, only horse he has at the races. Gee, must be a depressing drive to the track.

Good luck with horse, poor field, but it would surprise if it paid a divvy

Sending best wishes to Dean, who I understand is currently in hospital after a mishap in the past week.

Not sure why it's so important to keep highlighting a stable that's having a lean patch though.

Agree here Big Bang, 1 thing that gets me, is attacks on most likely, hard working, wholesome people, trying to make a living (long hours), in an industry that appears to be struggling.

Fair dinkum to get called out when things need to get called out. But other times, kind of feel like its, flat out, mean/cyber bullying.
