Brodie
Very interesting to see the now 11 year old Shay Scott due to line up for the first time in over 3 years! Being trained by Maria Perriton, who has a small team in Auckland at the moment, not sure whether she has moved up there permanently, but someone will know? You would wonder why you would bother bringing it back as an 11 year old, but it must be showing something in work! What I do know is that it was an absolute shocker for trotting all the way in its races for several seasons and I think took heaps of starts to win but did have speed but was really field shy and always gave the field big starts! Think Bevan Heron trained it for many years! Edited July 15, 2021 by Brodie

I'm not sure why she took any of her horses with her, they go just as poorly up there as they did down here. The age of the horse doesn't matter that much. Take After Me, a 10-year-old Holmes Hanover gelding almost won the second junior drivers' heat. 😆😃

Yeah, not sure why Maria races these horses, been a long time since she last had a winner. Didn’t know she moved up there, thought she was still in Canterbury. Drove a few winners in the 80s when working for K J Vincent, Andronicus, Spangled Lord etc

Stormy Morn was originally trained by Trevor Thomas, but later P. Moore and later trained in the north by A. Perutich (not sure of spelling as long ago). I don't think Maree Price ever drove the horse?

Too hard in Open class though against Armalight, Gammalite, Lord Module and Delightful Lady though in the early 80's for Trio. A funny bitofayarn, for a few weeks as a young fella, i was doing the Pukekohe Sunday workouts (quite a busy trotting hub with Reaks ,Blanchard, Herlihy, heap of others too) and was commentating from the little box at top of track , on a voluntary basis , as give owners and trainers some idea , as pretty quiet without a commentator. sometimes there was like 15 workouts ,one after another. I got dismissed hahahaha, after one heat saying "and there goes Tony Perucich driving his usual race three wide in a four horse field " lol..hahahaha 1

Last race was from a long handicap at timaru I think, finished midfield, I had a punt on him🥴.

Well Maria has been racing horses at Auckland for over a year and all form guides plus her HRNZ profile say Pukekohe. What do you reckon champ? Perhaps she's just on a year-long holiday? Has always been based in Rangiora so thought maybe she was doing raids on Auckland to plunder the big stakes! Hard to fathom why she thought it be beneficial and financially more successful for her to be training in Auckland, and it hasnt been!

Even the Brodster, the master at finding value bets, would not find any value in a M. Perriton trained runner. Her horses are weak and reached their marks long ago. I think she needs to find new stock and another bred? Edited July 21, 2021 by Davis

Despite trainng and driving the favorite and first starter (who turned out to be a 29 start maiden) he tipped out Maria's drive and it stormed home to get up by a nose paying 20. Was a big night at the Tasman Tavern and no recovery day on the 27th.
