Cambridge selections

Here are some selections for Cambridge today. Sadly HRNZ have rendered these no longer useful and as they do take me some time I thought I would at least ensure someone reads them for my trouble.

Race 1 Race Time:3:41pm

THE CLUBHOUSE FATHERS DAY SPECIAL THIS SUNDAY TROT

2 Bun In the Oven

3 Trifolium

4 Romeo Foxtrot

5 Sly Punter

BUN IN THE OVEN is overdue a maiden success. Cost herself dearly August 12 when pacing off the mark and lost 50m in finding the correct gait. Should have won. Barrier one shouldn't be a concern.

TRIFOLIUM was backed and beaten in most of his starts. Freshened since trotting roughly at Auckland in April but no workouts to fit him for this. A place chance.

ROMEO FOXTROT is another  horse coming in fresh without a trial. Ran a career best race manners and placing wise last January, so spelled on a good note. May need this but is the best horse in this field.

SLY PUNTER is becoming more reliable and on his day can sneak a bit of place money.

Race 2 NZMCA PARKING AT CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY MOBILE PACE

1 Doctor Steve

2 Pacing Hope

5 Heza Player

6 Victor Bravo

DOCTOR STEVE surprisingly only finished fourth August 12 here at Cambridge after being a blackbooker many times at Auckland. He lands barrier one here and he should dominate this race. The bet of the night.

PACING HOPE is first up for the Donnelly stable. Hasn't raced since January and was very green then. Had a workout August 10 and still looks like a work in progress. Ability counts.

HEZA PLAYER is also very green but has done zero wrong in both starts. Has good gate speed and if he could find the lead is a real chance of upsetting. Did well to stick on being parked throughout at start two.

VICTOR BRAVO is a horse with talent and is better then the form reads. Sadly another poor draw makes it hard and he seems to be being driven for one run at them of late. Follow.

MR WONDERFUL still makes mistakes in his races but he has gone the odd good trial against fields of this calibre so respect the stable to have him sorted.

Race 3 Race Time:4:31pm

CHRISTMAS @ THE RACEWAY TICKETS ON SALE NOW MOBILE PACE

3 Courage Of Montana

5 Margot

6 Watch And Learn

4 Bad Medicine

COURAGE OF MONTANA has really lit up the trials at Pukekohe recently. A winner in three of five workouts and trials. Did things wrong in his first qualifier but rectified that August 6 with a dominant win. Too good for these.

MARGOT has performed with credit in all three maiden runs at Auckland. The hardest to beat with the race form.

WATCH AND LEARN has been overall disappointing since running third on debut. Drawn wide but get's driven with a sit regardless. You can't leave him out.

BAD MEDICINE is beautifully bred out of the good mare Suidelike Meisie. Extensively trialled with seven runs. Has won four of them. Hasn't gone time in any of them yet but has run behind some smart ones.

BARBAROSSA has a bit of race day form but can let the side down. Consider for first four options.

Race 4 Race Time:5:06pm

BLUE DO 23 SEPTEMBER. TICKETS ON SALE NOW MOBILE PACE

4 Obsession

2 Harder Than Diamonds

3 Waitforever

9 Be My Rose

OBSESSION is just a two year old filly. But she won powerfully on debut in March showing good gate speed off barrier one. Spelled after failing in the sires stakes heat at start two. No recent trials either but is a class filly.

HARDER THAN DIAMONDS did good things last preparation. Latest third in April was in strong premier night company. Had a hard 2:44 workout run pre lockdown too so strips pretty forward and looks the likely leader.

WAITFOREVER hasn't raced since February but looked forward when winning  a workout August 10/ Looked a little weak at times but should have strengthened up. May need a run but good enough.

BE MY ROSE gets a rotten draw of one on the second row following out a horse with speed but bad manners. Got the penalty free win August 12 from the markers but needs luck today.

STARRY STAR has run second in her last four runs at Cambridge. Forget the last run, it was at Auckland in a 1:55 mile. Always a place chance.

Race 5 Race Time:5:34pm

IKE UNSWORTH MOBILE PACE

6 Private Eye

3 Girls Are Best

7 Wet Flipflops

5 Riverman Sam

PRIVATE EYE has run second in all three starts here at Cambridge. forget the last run, he looked all at sea at Alexandra Park. Narrowly defeated in all runner up runs and always seems to strike a really good one. Tonight is no different but still an each way hope.

GIRLS ARE BEST had no luck August 5 sitting parked throughout. Still showed that hitch in her gait but may be better rolling so expect her to sit handy again tonight.

WET FLIPFLOPS continues to press on this preparation after dead heating and staying a maiden. Seemed to have every show August 12 and this is a hotter field tonight but throw in somewhere.

EAGLE DANCER is an interesting runner having not raced in three and a half years. Good enough to line up at two against the best. Zipped home a good quarter in her second workout this time in, three weeks ago. The smokey.

RIVERMAN SAM was only beaten a head on July 22 in quick time here and benefits from scratchings tonight.

MAJOR HOLIDAY caught a few eyes on debut but hasn't been on the track in both runs since. From the draw he can produce a sneaky run tonight.

Race 6 BETAVET HANDICAP TROT

2 Jasinova

6 Safrakova

1 I Got Music

8 Phoebe Majestic

JASINOVA and SAFRAKOVA provided the quinella at Auckland on July 30. The one concern with Jasinova is the 2200m start at Cambridge. She has botched it on more then one occasion. Her best beginning came in that last start win from the 2700m start point. Going places so top pick on the hope she behaves.

Safrakova is a reliable option who, once crossed last time, ended up in the wrong spot. Definite each way.

I GOT MUSIC will be a watch and see from barrier one. No question about the motor but still a work in progress. Made errors in both starts at Cambridge previously so take on trust.

PHOEBE MAJESTIC is a talented filly fresh tonight. Won her maiden in July with faultless manners. This is her first start under race day conditions at Cambridge but has trotted well here trial day. May be a run short tonight but with manners it's hard to see her out of it.

RANDOM JUDE went the best race of her career August 12 when third in the highest rated trot. That was a big step up from scraping home against the maidens. 10m is not ideal for her in this grade but has found her best form in the north.

THE LAST GAMBLE is a sprint trip specialist and after a patchy winter, went a bold race last time and is due a win.

Race 7 BLACK DOG FURNITURE MOBILE PACE

10 Whooshka

5 Murphys Reward

7 Chablis

11 Arden Velocity

WHOOSHKA took advantage of barrier one in a strong winter futurity final on July 30. They went 2:40 in that. Has since had a soft workout August 17 against two maidens. Tricky second row draw to overcome but hard to beat.

MURPHYS REWARD undoes himself when over racing even when in front on his own. Needs to relax but has the gate speed to lead them and is a strong chance of hanging on.

CHABLIS hasn't raced since June and the only public appearance since was a slowly run stand start workout on August 6, so is sure to be a little short tonight. Couple that with a bad draw and her winning chances are slim. Too good to dismiss.

ARDEN VELOCITY won his maiden two starts ago then flopped in the winter futurity July 30. Should be forward and won't be here for a picnic.

Race 8 DUNSTAN MOBILE PACE

3 Major Jellis

1 Settle Petal

6 Brookies Jaffa

4 Hooray Henry

MAJOR JELLIS won his maiden at Cambridge 12 months ago and hasn't been here since. Was parked early on the 1:54 mile when he was defeated by Rough And Ready. He's a tough horse who should lead early and choose his destiny thereafter. Top pick.

SETTLE PETAL steps up in class tonight but has the advantage of barrier one. She was surprisingly beaten August 12 but that was her first race in a month and had only had the one slow stand start trial prior. Should get every chance.

BROOKIES JAFFA didn't race at all in August due to programming and covid. In career best form in July. He's overdue a race and hasn't missed a beat in lockdown. He will have to cover territory where his main danger won't. But he can win.

HOORAY HENRY is only a two race winner but is a smart horse. Only three lengths from Marathon Man at Auckland July 16. His home track is a happy hunting ground for him and with a cart into this, he also can run over top of them.

Race 9 HIRE A VENUE AT CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY HANDICAP TROT

5 Call Me Trouble

3 In Sequence

1 Majestic Harry

4 Presidential Jewel

CALL ME TROUBLE is the X factor horse in this. Simply, if he trots he wins. This is his preferred track in the north as it's left handed. Won his only start here in dominant fashion. Needs to behave though.

IN SEQUENCE also has start number one at Cambridge which should suit given where his roots were. Has taken to Auckland racing with aplomb however. Forget the last start. Drew 8 over the mile and seemed all at sea behind the mobile. 15m behind is not hard given the makeup of this field. Each way.

MAJESTIC HARRY is an honest trier in what is potentially his farewell NZ race. Has the front to himself with the other horse being unruly and with his manners expect him to lead for the early stages. A big danger to the class types.

PRESIDENTIAL JEWEL finally got the money August 12, albeit she fell in. Back to the 25m mark tonight but that is offset by the small field. The 2200m seems her distance at this track.

PHOEBE IMPERIAL couldn't quite finish it off from this mark August 12. A smaller field helps that situation however and in an even field gets his chance.

Best Bet: Race 1 (2) Bun In The Oven

Each Way Value: Race 8 (6) Brookies Jaffa

Hi Teaz

Pardon,

Noticed that your selections were not up today re Cambridge.

I sincerely hope I have not caused problems for you. This was never what Karrots intended.

So BOAYs know what happened.

I me, Karrots no one else, decided to start that thread the other day, re Teaz for Mana. I don’t even know Teaz, nor have I ever meet him.

Reason I do not want to have the same commentator, whom I have said before I like as a commentator, no shade throw by me at all towards White. But ALL 3 locations is a bit muchie, muchie.  Iv said this before. Plus I do NOT believe that having someone that is NOT a harness specialist is the best option, plus I don’t like the idea of having White commentating Mana from studio in Auckland.

Back to story,

So Teaz upon reading my thread, thought yes why not & goes ahead & contacts with TAB or whomever Karrots was unaware of this.

But due to being meet with a cold response contacted me, 1st time ever, JUST to advise me, the thread is going NOWHERE, maybe even to ease up.

Nothing more nothing less. Teaz is a private person & not a lot of details were really discussed. Other than I questioned when the correspondence took place in which he advised me that day. I took note of the slap in face & TIGHT BUDGET THING.

So I said DONT GIVE UP HOPE.

This saddens me Teaz. Im so sorry to hear this.

I have a few horses now. 1 I own in full. If I don’t sell it & race it, I will most likely contact you to be the trainer, maybe we could sort out a 50/50 deal that works for us both 😁

Why do drivers do it. Announcers says “take a hat off to L W, for making the fav work". (Now Im not dissing LW put him on our BOAY hot list & have spoken out about him being a leading North Jnr Driver BUT dislike Kamikaze driving. ONLY ENDS 1 WAY USUALLY & THAT IS NOT WINNING.

Another thing 1 noted. Commentator states the following:

“To give you an idea of how far they have gone, it is a gap of 8 lengths”

BUT

NO lead up time. This is something I look for to understand & know exactly how fast they have run e.g. 41.4 or 40.4 but nothing was given. Don't want to run anyone down, as all trying their best Im sure, but an example of someone commentating that is NOT a specialist in HARNESS.

Teaz think your 5 selections made the top 4, not in the particular order, however 4 of the 5 came in.

I didn't mind speed duels.Adds a bit of excitement to a race.  P Ferguson created it. They both still placed but L whittaker did beat him home.,

Speed duels are OK, especially on a track like Cambridge and in a nothing race.... I think they add excitement to an otherwise dull race...?

Hey D, each to their own, if I was punting on either horse or an owner Id be pissed. And under strict instructions as an owner, you speed duel for lead like that, you won't get another drive. THE END. Especially when the horses are just returning back from racing after a lockdown of what was meant to be light jogging.

Speed duels can bottom a horse out if ,like you say, they have not had a thorough grounding work wise. But i believe it really depends on how hard the driver is on the horse at the finish of a race in which it had the speed duel.

The worst thing i believe a driver can do is a pointless chase after the field after a bad start, then to ask that horse for an all out effort at the finish. Its just stupidity. If they want to bottom a horse out, thats the best way to do it. It happens a bit,and i never understand whyThe subsequent results always tell the story, but its too late then.

Hey Galahs,

I was talking about that particular race. Both drivers were being naughty, 1 could of dropped into trail e.g. Ferg or Whittaker could of just taken a trail. They had after all put what 8 lengths on the others.

The are maidens horses & as I stated back after lockdown, (light training 2-3 laps) & over 2200m. That was my point.

I def got that term kamikazi driving from you & I like it hence use it hehe 😁

They just went too long on with it, was it approx 600 metes that is way too long for me. 200 metres max 250 speed dualing is ok. The further you go the further the burn & that lactic acid builds up. Much harder to be in the finish. Over shorter distance its not so bad. But still hard on any horse. Then the driver just hands the reins back to the trainers for them to pick up the pieces over the next week or so.

We could have new game, you & Davis can own each own a horse & race Karrots horse 😁

Then you & Davis horses can speed dual against each other like they did for 600 metres.

Karrots horsey can just sit in behind & watch it upfront ahead, that would be fun.

Yip 100% agree with you re, pointless chase after the field after a bad start.

Com'on Chief , who is gunna back 4 horses to win in one trotting/pacing race ? odds just aren't big enough.

with This 'system' you showed with $42 loss , you were DOWN $27 from the Get-Go . only one can win each race.

Might as well box the 4 selections in a trifecta each race that Jason picked. AND hope the outsider of the trio wins.??

He got trifectas in 5 races (didn't count his 'fifth' selections any race) divs were $64, $27, $35, $64, and $36 here in small pools.

so if $1 BOX each race total of $24 per race = $216.    Collect was $226   .  A tidy $10 Profit !!!!! lol.......... handsome lol...

Well isn't that the point?  For the average punter or even the newbie punter what is the point of 4 selections in a race UNLESS you are going to box them in an exotic.  Which exotic?

If you did just a F4 boxed then you would be down $84.  If you did both the trifecta and the F4 you would be down $74.

I think Karrots has a wee crush

Hey Spatchcock,

Haha funny how things may look to some,

Nah obviously in lockdown level 4 here, nothing going on, & as Teaz said it took him time to do, so just thought would check results. Was going to do a comparison too, with Trotech that was on HRNZ, but then thought nah if Teaz comes out on top, may look like Im just having a crack/dig so left it.

Iv actually done a comparison before too, when we had a selections game & called the thread something like BOAY verse Experts & the 1st round Boayer's beat the experts.

Spending time living in LA, peeps pass out compliments regularly & peeps accept compliments readily & easily. NZ is a different culture. Peeps seem to get embarrassed when a compliment is given. Laugh it off, go red faced, rather than just saying simply THANK YOU. And have to be humble, rather than say hey actually I back myself here. Iv got this. Anyway it is what it is. (Oh unless your Brods - “always on the money in his mind”) - which again I pointed out I digged his confidence.

BTW see from the Chair a thing about keyboard warriors,

What was written felt was a fair call by them. Had to laugh as what they wrote was actually right lol.

Hope they weren’t meaning me tho.

Prob 80% of time I say positive stuff about HRNZ.

Having an opinion on 1 particular topic think they can improve on. Hope that doesn’t make me a keyboard warrior. Then again they maybe referring to others whom I would think are way more keyboard warriors than Karrots.

So it is something I will miss if it is discontinued by the bean counters.

So Ranga yes beans counting re commentators.

BUT

J Turners selections are up for Wyndam today.

Yet Camb are up under simple copy/paste Trotech.

Wonder whose decision it was to cut Poster Teaz selections from being posted on HRNZ for Camb?

Spatchcock, this post, all I am doing is simply making a real time relevant observation on a race chat site.

Poster Teaz may also be considered to be a keyboard warrior.

Oh my.

After the Chariman publically states keyboard warriors have been disappointing with a heap of time hands.

Umm Ditto,

Rushing out & making snap terminal decisions that effect peoples lively-hood.

Whats worse - keyboard warriors or that? (PS don’t think anyone name called on here either). Saying heads of HRNZ are not held with LIABILITY simply just RESPONSIBILITY, should worst case scenario happen is not name-calling. Its a fact. Saying someone was slapped in the face, when it is a fact, is NOT name calling. Saying on this particular occasion (opinion only) they are not 100% clued up, because felt it’s a wrong decision. Is not name calling (& bearing in mind 80% of the time, have heaped praise on HRNZ & the leaders). Go figure.

Then this immediate knee jerk Reaction.

Green is allowed to publically call the handicappers imbeciles (name calling) BUT Karrots can’t say Teaz to commentate for Mana without repercussions.

Shooting the messenger (publically call out as keyboard warriors) & simultaneously cull those they are trying to bring awareness to Poster Teaz.

Simply shows to me.

The truth hurts.

It also highlights to me something else.

Anyway moving on.

YES Chief. That was what I meant re out of lockdown South & mega meeting go ahead. Didnt word it well, was meaning out of full lockdown. They planned Mega meeting if South went to level 3!

Considering Butchers who supply meat have to shut in level 4, (that really sux for them), HRNZ has negotiated well to get a pass for light work, animal care, grooming, handling for animal welfare reasons level 4.

Hold up wait, sorry folks, Keyboard Warrior Karrots has this to say as per the words of the Chairman. Meanwhile going on in the background is this

Someone says,

Right o, go fire that person! No need for empathy and kindness.

Meanwhile, Chairman writes out a nice note about being kind to each other. Hypocrisy at its best.

In the words of our Prime Minister, “Be kind to one another.”

Karrots this is the Oxford definition of a Keyboard Warrior:

a person who makes abusive or aggressive posts on the internet, typically one who conceals their true identity.

There are only two regular posters on BOAY that fit into that category and they are both moderated.  If Coulam has a wider definition than above then he has no understanding of sport, social media or opinion that he may disagree with.

Yea was being sarcastic.

Also within the statement is none other than NAME CALLING.

Keyboard Warriors. Name calling.

Do understand their position & how they must feel reading or hearing about some things being written online.

But just bewildered by this Poster Teaz thing.

BUT honestly peeps will get sick of me talking about it soon.

So with that, that shall be all.

Chief come join in on the thread, Most Vivid Memory. Would love to hear yours 😃

Im still full lockdown, Boring, going into week 4 now, so enjoying reading peeps memories 😃
