curious
Any market on whether this meeting will go ahead? What's the odds? If I were a jockey resident there I'd be getting out now.

Will impact whoever is left at Ruakaka or those that have set up camp there. What are the MPI rules for racing at Level 3?

Doomed
As long as none of the racing fraternity in the Waikato mix with criminals they should be ok.

Except the alleged criminal's kids went to school subsequently, one of them with symptoms. Heaven knows where it might have spread from there. How on earth anyone could have bailed a prisoner from Auckland to the Waikato when no-one else is allowed out of there is beyond me. What were they thinking? That's right, they weren't.

Wasn't there last week a truck driver who tested positive who was crossing the boundaries? I bet there is mass flight occurring at the moment. nomates
If they close all of the Waikato racing is in deep shite in the medium term , if i was TA , Pike or any of these other big name trainers i would be getting horses and staff out to other areas . Down this way there is Trentham , Otaki , HBay , New Plymouth , they could all take horses . If it was me i would be ringing D Haworth , can box or shelter 30 horses with plenty of big paddocks and a short float trip to Foxton . True but what worries me is that this probably has already spread beyond the Waikato given the time-frame, so there's a fair chance the whole of the NI if not the SI could be at level 3 or 4 by the end of the week. Hard to know what to do really.

I'm still hoping the big chiefs at NZTR have a plan if they do . 1

curious
They probably have the same plan as when this outbreak hit. Something like the plan is to come up with a plan when it hits.

Yeah but we are into spring and some big races coming up so they need more than last time , going to be interesting all the same , they are not known for forward thinking . They would be better taking a serious look at Aus, at least they can manage the racing while all the shenanigans goes on.

Can't see the Govt going for it myself , if racing is shut down again or severely hampered then we have to be up for some compensation , considering how much money has gone into keeping business and industry going then surely the racing " INDUSTRY " is entitled to the same . The bigger issue will be what it does to the calendar .
nomates
Possibly the bigger stables will look to ship large numbers over to Aus .
nomates
Or owners just say enough is enough and send their horses over to other trainers , going to be interesting . Either way any kind of closure that is going to affect the spring racing isn't going to be good .
Chief Stipe
If the Waikato goes to Level 3 and Auckland stays at 4 or goes to 3 then Opie will be able ride Trackwork again....won't he?

Chief Stipe
If the Waikato goes to Level 3 then they can still have race meetings but behind "closed doors". What will screw it all is if Auckland stays at 4 and Waikato goes to 4.
