Not long to the next edition of the big race, and a lot of fantastic performances and Wins and big crowds enjoying the racing over the years .

Todays quiz NZ Cup number 1 has the Huge Addington crowd with probably some BOAY folk in the stands as well.

Can anyone Name these 2 battling out , that hail from some of the area's loved by a few Boay posters.?

Brodie with 2 points with the 2 horses correct, from the 1978 NZ Cup with Trusty Scot winning for the Hunter family.

Brodster now 'Restricted" for second part point . (sorry Brodster ) to get another expert 1 point.

For this bonus point , That isn't the third placegetter Rocky Tryax in the photo.

Can anyone pick...............

Who is that fine Canterbury stallion pacer No 6 in the photo ?

Lord Module was in the race as was Wee WIN.

Very good Chief . Wee Win often carried one of those White neck straps along with Rocky Tryax, Trevira and Sapling. Wee Win was indeed the 4th horse across the line !!!

TRUSTY SCOT went on to win the Nz FFA on Show-day as well , ( from Lord Module placed )

First day cup  Quiz Points :  Brodie 2, Chief 1.

I actually picked that photo as well, I think I'm correct that Trevira didn't start in the 78 Cup,  that's just going on memory.

Those guys that had Trevira has a couple of other good ones, Trilobal and Tricotine then they seemed to fade out, that's all from memory too.

Actually did some research ,Ron Hamilton gave up the horses nearly ten years ago, but he had been around them over 50 years so one can understand but three sons  none driving training or whatever, seems the younger versions just dont carry on, that's life.

Is the family involved with the dish lickers down south?

No idea on that one.

Just a side note to the cup race Sapling missed a race at Forbury in 78 due to Flooding in Southland, there were quite a few scratchings for that race meeting, raced october 14 1978.

Not winning the cup here.

Was on course for this. Big night.

"Gammalight"" certainly landed some big punts for his supporters here. Thanks Vinny

Hehehe Don't you worry about BLUE boy. He had Vinny well covered here in the trials at Addington leading up to that Interdominion.

Sort of a sign of things to come. Vinnie still got in the final with 'Alpine Fella' anyway.

A tragedy for BAG LIMIT's connections he had to scratch with injury , but lucks a fortune !
