Bit Of A Yarn

As if we didn't already know they were clueless

So a couple of seasons back the wizards that produce the magic out of NZTR thought in their wisdom the CD doesn't need a local race meeting on Wellington Anniversary Monday so gave the date to Matamata , their thinking being the gambling addicts in the CD would still bet at Matamata , well maybe they didn't because they have just put out list of venue and date changes in the new year and low and behold they have moved Matamata to the Wednesday and left the Monday vacant , no Cd meeting back in it's place , nothing , nada , SFA . So if you happen to live south of Taupo and like a bet on a holiday day off forget it , for they have forgotten about you .

Or is it just more of the destabilisation of CD racing working towards the North being where all things great in NZ racing reside .

Had another quick shifty at the calendar and Trentham has that ridiculous 3 Saturdays in a row , the 2nd Saturday is just a bog standard Saturday meeting along with the Ellerslie Karaka Millions meeting and Gore , why not put that day back on the Monday and leave the Karaka/Gore meetings there , betting on that day outside of Karaka will be average anyway as everybody is focused on the millions , the CD gets a holiday meeting and the Trentham track gets an extra 5 days to prepare for the Cup day , and god don't we know they will need all the time they can get .

I would actually a have a bet that turnover and on course patronage would be better on the Monday than the Saturday .

Perhaps i'm asking for something a bridge too far , commonsense .

Maybe not go to church on Sunday? Go Monday instead, break the week up a bit.

Make sure you have your pass for church, and here's me thought the good lord's house was open for all, regardless, obviously not, a tad hypocritical

My Church rang me last Saturday telling me i was no longer welcome unvaxed, told them to stick there Church. Tried two more Sunday morning last week only to be told to leave. Tried one more after that and this one welcomed me unvaxed. Just about to go now. Those other Churches are not Christian Churches which I pointed out to them, but rather empty vessels with the devil in attendance. Needless to say they could not get rid of me quick enough. The feeling was mutual.

You would think a church would be the last place to segregate wouldn't you?  Unfortunately it happened during the world wars also, what a failed species we really are, no wonder my border collie looks at me with wonder in his eyes,  wtf he must think, then again, a lot of humans look at me and think that I reckon.

Yeah, I'm staggered.  I realise that some congregations in West Auckland got vilified for holding their gatherings - but, turning worshippers away has to be the most un-Christian behaviour ever.

A bit of common-sense and modification surely would be all that was necessary - if there were more than 50 people, that is.

Well how is this for ludicrous.  I went into town on Thursday to do some shopping and buy some Christmas cards.

7 days earlier I could have wandered into my favourite bar and sat down, got a pint and wrote in the cards before taking them two doors down the road to the post shop to be posted.

Vaccine passports are mandatory to enter the bar.  However they have a very large area outside the bar with about 12 tables under the sun (27 degrees!) and some with sun umbrella's.   I thought cool I'll sit there and write on the cards.  The waitress, who I know quite well, pitches up fully masked (a pointless cloth mask but with pretty flowers on it) and asks what I would like.  It was before 12 so I asked for a coffee.  I was asked to show a vaccine pass.  When I didn't she said sorry she couldn't serve me as she would be up for a $15k fine.

Anyway I finished writing the cards wandered into the bookstore agency post shop, not wearing a mask nor asked to and sent the cards on their way.  There were more people in the store than the bar!

So on my way home hanging out for a coffee I stopped at the coffee and icecream cafe and bought a takeaway coffee.  Now this store was next to the bar and shared the same piece of street frontage only divided by a couple of planter boxes.  No vaccine passports required.

In protest I sat at the bar tables outside and drank my coffee which I had bought 5m away next door.

By this time it was after 12pm, the air temperature was 28 and I drooled watching the people at a next door table drinking a pint.  I realised then that Covid-19 didn't like coffee and was probably an alcoholic.
