Expand For a start it is a "rumour" and no doubt the article is all based on innuendo, inference and supposition. The trainer wouldn't have been named so how can anyone sue the scumbag excuse for a journalist? That said the inference given the clues is one stable in particular. As for the assertion that there has been a positive test to EPO then it would be a major coup for the NZ RIB given that positive tests to Human EPO in horses is a very rare event. When was the last one anywhere in the world? If there has been a positive then surely there would be an announcement from the RIB? If there has then someone is still leaking from the RIB. Chief Stipe
There is some wild speculation going on about this. Looks like Profit has been fed a line of information that is dubious to say the least. For those that don't know: a syringe is NOT a needle. A syringe can be used to dispense a measured amount of anything that flows such as medication, vitamins or food additives. A needle can be attached to the syringe to inject a wide range of substances; it appears that the RIB were alerted to the presence of a syringe by a third party trainer. That trainer has now retracted their statement(s); it isn't clear if any substances were administered on raceday by syringe/needle or otherwise; as far as can be ascertained the amount bet on Johnny Nevits hardly constitutes a "betting plunge"; no subsequent raids occurred nor as yet have any charges been laid. It would appear that there is an undercurrent of misinformation which is being fuelled by a small group of individuals. More on that later. Some have cast aspersions on Bensons Mate's performance at Motukarara where it finished last but haven't noted that it broke twice in the running at close to the same spot on the track.

I believe the witness has changed their statement anyway. so how do you proceed after that? Would be better to let them race .(McGrath , Alford and others that want to tube, inject , floss or dope a horse and penalise them on the LAB findings from Blood and urine results . Good, Hard, Positive, 'Can't deny a thing' evidence. then penalise them. easier on everyone that way. (example being , you might have a syringe in your hand to squirt something into the horses mouth that is not illegal so someone trying to rat you out , because you are on a 'shared' property , could be wrong with accusations) Edited December 31, 2021 by Gammalite

The Kerr case is hardly a fair comparison. Kerr committed fraud and the time to prove that could have been substantially shortened if HRNZ had proper ownership checks and balances in place. Justice should be swift - not a fishing exercise by the Prosecutor where they use their considerable powers to break people financially and emotionally. What is the official reason for Johnny Nevits not being allowed to race? Has a positive been returned? Have the Trainer and Owners been given a reason? If they have, have they been gagged? Will it go on as long as the Wigg episode has? 1

The horse appeared to pace roughly on the same part of the track as its previous start i.e. on the final bend when appearing to be full of running.
