Wow...go Tina !

Tina Comignaghi has always had a lovely touch with horses,  but - four out of four..!  What an effort.

This would be the first extended period that she hasn't had significant injury issues, broken hand, shoulder, wrists,  etc...doing stupid things like schooling novice jumpers on race morning..ffs..and the extra fitness gained through fewer layoffs is certainly showing benefits.

With the current furore over whip use, it is also gratifying to see such success from one who doesn't rely on it.

She has always had the ability and i have always liked backing her , but inconsistency has been her biggest issue and perhaps as you say there have been reasons , now that she's riding at her top i hope she stays focused , she could certainly handle a move north if she wanted it .

Bugger that, we need her here.   The cartel can get their own.

Yes, five winners and a second from eight is a phenomenal achievement, well done.

Full credit to the women jockeys, on a per capita basis they punch well above their weight and without them the game is in dire straits here.

I see one B. Pelling occupying the starters rostrum, he's been around awhile?

Yes, he has.  Used to ride as I recall, should know how the operation works.    And his old man, Dick, was a very canny trainer.

Just wondering if she was born in NZ as i know nothing about her at all, apart from seeing her enter the winners stall on a regular basis.

Sam Wynne, what's happened to her, injured perhaps,?

Do they have racing in Argentina.

Very big racing jurisdiction , many top horses , jockeys and breeding stock come out of Argentina .

One of my all time favorite jockeys , Tito Poblete , not sure on the spelling , was from over that way , Freda will put me right , Chilean i think .

Him and Little Brown Jug , great combination .

Should know... but from the Stewards Report: -

Linedanceking (A Balloo) got its head down attempting to escape under the barriers prior to the start with the rider dismounting. A short time afterwards the start was effected whilst Linedanceking was still riderless. Linedanceking was subsequently declared a non-starter by the Adjudicator with all bets to be refunded.

I other words Boof let them go whilst the hoop was dismounted and standing on the side of the barriers !

You did speak a little early, out for a couple of weeks for whip use in the first.

San Isidro in Buenos Aires has over 2000 horses in work, brilliant training and racing centre, their bloodlines are still strong, but 20 years ago they were magic, Terry Willisee who owned and operated Trans Media Park Stud [Sovereign Red, Rubiton etc] used to fly over and bring back dozens of their best mares, many horses are still ridden bareback in track work, their horsemanship is on another level and Polo is a national sport.......they need Tina to do a half hour on weigh in showing videos, it would shame most at Petone, then again they're shameless anyway aren't they?

Tito also used to ride a good filly called something like Glydavari. I recall her winning impressively at Timaru in the days when they used to race the Show Gate stakes at Xmas time. Think she was by Godavari the same sire as LBJ.

I was thinking the same thing. One of 3 excessive use charges on the day.

T Comignaghi (IDLE LADY) - Admitted a charge in that she struck her mount IDLE LADY 7 times prior to the 100 metre
mark. After considering submissions the Adjudicator imposed a suspension of T Comignaghi’s licence to ride in races
from the conclusion of racing on Saturday 29 January until the conclusion of racing on Thursday 10 February, 7
national riding days, and in addition imposed a fine of $200.

Saw Tito more recently, he appeared at the track one morning a couple of years ago.  His son has [ had? ] a restaurant in town, and he was visiting to catch up with family.

Saw me looking at him curiously, and came over and said  'you remember me? '  I said yes, you look very familiar, but...a long time ?  he laughed, and introduced himself.

Mentioned that he had been to the recent Riccarton races, shook his head, and said, I'd love to go to the apprentice school and try to help some of these young riders.  We both agreed that it would be a challenge, no-one would have heard of him, and probably none of the kids would put their cellphones down long enough to listen.

Helen Preston, trainer of Magellan, among others, ridding by Tito on occasions, showed me a video of him, leading up the straight at Riccarton, swapping the stick over alternate strides.  Balance superb.

Yeah...there was a fair bit of controversy over his appointment as starter.   ' Jobs for the boys ' has been mentioned.....apparently barrier lads called out 'wait, wait..' as Jason wasn't ready either.  But the warning wasn't heard.

Then in the next all the horses bar 1 were in the gates ready to go with 2 mins before official start , then the race after they took the other path and were 4 mins over start time . They have some issues that crew , plus i see they are still using residents from the retirement village .
