Magic four last 2 starts were seconds at cambridge, one behind a handy 3year old in a 1 win race, and the other behind a  horse who has had 5 wins from 50 starts, who had dropped back to the 1 win grade because it had been unable to win at manawatu. So i don't think brodie would have on that one.  But well done to the reid/ mcmullan team.

It was a good race to watch ,but you would have to ask has the dylan ferguson driven horse got to the finish yet. No surprise it was down to a walk before the 200m mark, given the way he drove it. Someone needs to tell him he wasn't driving lazarus.  Still he did add excitement to the race, even if he did look rather stupid.

Ok there is a good reason for the "staggering" performance improvement?  Who would've thought?!

Still dont know how it coildve won, just shows why perhaps Auckland is on its knees!

Can't see you logic or join the dots.  Auckland Trotting Club are still holding race meetings, returned a good profit last season and are trying new innovations.

So ATC is hardly "on its knees".

Remind me again when was the last time you said anything positive about a harness meeting in NZ.

Maybe hes come to the same conclusion as expressed in the "dire picture painted by Auckland trotting club auditor" article a couple of months back.  Brodsters always on the money.

That's a Barry Lichter headline.  Suggest you have a look at the accounts.  From what I can see everything is heading in the right direction.

Barry Lichter has his finger on the pulse, Chief.

The ATC are totally in dire straights financially and are a huge drain on harness racing in NZ!

The amount of debt they carry is going to bury them as there is not a lot of positive news that is coming from out of the trenches!

Chief, how do you think they are going to be able to trade their way out of the mess they have got themselves into?

Lol. I would have to go back and have a long look!

Your site Chief, and totally entitled to disagree with anything that I say!

There are some positive things happening with harness racing, just often very hard to name them !

Can you advise all these positive things that you see  are happening that is currently making harness great again?

What mess Brodie?  Give us some detail and your erudite analysis instead of slogans.

How are they a drain on New Zealand Harness Racing?  Does HRNZ have liability tied to ATC debt?

Because they are few and far between!

Harness is at a crossroads at the moment and this lockout of the public just does not do it any favours!

I go into betting places and there is next to no one else wagering on harness.

Without nee punters being attracted  to harness and new people entering the industry it is only going to be one way traffic.

No HRNZ is not tied to the debt!

However you can not run a viable business with the current debt level and lack of interest in the Auckland harness product!

So what would you do to address what you perceive to be problems other than change the Government and allow you to bet and win as much as you want?

But you said the debt was sucking money out of Harness Racing?  If they can service any debt and they have positive net assets what's the problem?  They are in a better position than TAB NZ that had to get bailed out of insolvency by Winnie.

With regard to the lack of interest in Auckland Harness racing according to you that is a problem for Harness as a whole.  Although it can't be that big a problem for the ATC as they returned a reasonable profit on their racing business.

Can you provide a link to the latest annual accounts?

Doesn't the previous couple of years show the racing side of things was running at a loss?

But if we are to believe what you say, then they have somehow turned that all around in the previous financial year, despite declining horse numbers and covid? That would be a positive if it was true, but can you provide some proof of that?

I have a go every now and then, not as much as i used to.

Lost a bit of enthusiasm as treated like a crim, Chief.

Where do I start?

Encourage wagering rather than the opposite.

Raise the stupid AML limit!

Get people back on course with incentives!

But that isn't something that Harness controls it is a TAB NZ issue and Government rules.  What's wrong with confirming your identity when depositing or withdrawing large sums of money?

What sort of incentives?  Free hot dogs and ice creams?  Where's the marketing budget come from?  Less Stakes?
