Gammalite
Barry and Greyhound have cleaned up today with some of the greats with 100% correct answers. 1 hour ago, barry said: Q3 they both won off 60 yds as well q4 haughty q5 hands down Highland Fling and Harold Logan both with the 2 Nz Cups each. The second one on both occasions was off an astounding 60 yard handicap. Great mare Haughty also with 2 NZ Cup wins and the second off 36yards for Ben Grice. Hands Down coming back at Delightful Lady to win his NZ Cup in the photo , in front of a full Addington house , after being headed off by near a length as they turned for home. Great effort by Peter Jones there to judge it so well. (also great effort by Mike Stormont and the lady off an un-fair handicap in that race)
Blackie
Peter Jones was beautiful to watch in his hey day, sat great in the cart. One of the best never to drive a 1000 winners. At the top of the straight when they went past us , the mare had a good length on him, both Mike Storment and P Jones both driving to their horses strengths, HD just outstayed her. Great race.

Haven't heard of it before but seems she was very competitive running places against some top notch trotters like Petite Evander, Easton Light, Cee Ar, Best Bet , Waipounamu and more in the 70's. Don't forget the mighty trotter that won two dominions that also started with D

Gammalite
Some more 'I for Incredible' horses......... Q3/ This horse whizzed around Harold Park in the quickest Miracle Mile ever run there. They shifted the race to Menangle around 2010. Q4/ This horse was good enough to make it on to a NZ postage stamp , along with Blossom Lady at the same time those postage stamps were issued. And the Aussie to have a crack at the kiwis.? Q5 This kiwi bred horse had a few raids to Nz I think and was the beneficiary of the 'First past the Post' Aussie being disqualified in an Auckland feature. Perhaps the first part of his name was dropped while racing in NZ? but he had it tagged on racing in Oz.

You missed one of the best, Durban Cheif won two dominions and was first New Zealand horse to win at his first ever start in America, was that good made the top trotters in the book un hoppled heroes, not to many win two dominions, first one controversial as beaten a narrow margin by recruit, but recruit galloped over the line and was relegated much to the disgust of his connections, I think from memory went on to win 32 races in America, not to many can boast those stats, out of the ds mentioned.

Q3/ Bet Mark has pictures of those one's from Q2 on his wall lol.... set him up very nicely. But there might be even more pictures as both those 2 horses won the NZ Derby for him. BUT how many NZ Derby's has Mark Purdon won? The Aussie to of raced in Nz........ Q4/ we are in reverse here, as this bloke (like many others ) Began his career with 3 wins in NZ. But won all his features in Oz for a WA chap who sadly got cancer at the same time and passed away at 40 years old. but Not before winning an Interdominion blowing away Nz Cup winners Blossom Lady and Christopher Vance and others.... Knight Pistol Good one Blackie !!!. you are on the money with Krug taking the Nz and GN Derby's last year. Koala King had that many wins , no one could count them all from all the places he went. (I see he did win 1 out of 3 starts he had at Auckland afterall) Koala King had 40 Harold Parks wins including a win over one of tomorrows 'L' horses in the Interdominion Grand Final. I know you know that horse Blackie lol, so will be interesting to see if anyone else remembers . Knight Pistol smashed out over 50 wins from 180 odd starts. Sure was a tough bugger alright. Gammalite
'L' day sees some L ovely horses in action in the quiz. Can anyone guess some of these ? have a t crack at one or two if you think you have it.... Q1/ This great horse did it all really and this beautifully built horse might become a siring sensation ? Q2/ This great horse , also a stunning 'Looker' knocked off the Aussies in the Miracle mile in his fine career and you could always see him 'Flashing' home late in race with his mane and tail very flash indeed.. Q3/ And some double LL's in the horse's name. This bloke clearly the best with a great career and resume with junior driver Mango piloting him to numerous wins before the Iceman took over and kept it going. Q4/ This double LL caused quite a sensation when 'face-planting ' into the Addington track in a feature race , and taking out 8 of his opponents in the process ? Q5/ This double LL horse was one of the 5 left standing (racing) when horse Q4 bit the deck. He sadly ran 5th. He was good enough to make the Interdominion Final at Addington 3 years later but found the great Q6 Aussie too big and too strong lol.... The Aussies to get to Nz shores and make an impact ........ Q6/ This brilliant Aussie (kiwibred really but don't tell anyone) is the One and Only Australian trained horse to win both the Interdominion Final and the Nz Cup on Nz soil. what a little champ .... Q7/ Kerryn Manning not only did well with Arden Rooney in Nz but took out an Auckland feature with this great trotting mare one year as well .? Q8/ Picture Clue./ Have a go at this horses brilliant Gait ?? why did we need American breeds with Pacing like this? Without hopples and all ? And this horse set a World Record ? Who is this magnificent animal and what was the record?
