the galah
well done to those who arranged to have the races tomorow, after the abandonment today at banks peninsula. Looks like they have reinstated the same fields and ballots, with the result just a few different scratchings.11 winners there, just a matter of working out which ones. Going from grass to all weather, harness does it but the gallops, seems a different story.

Well there's a couple of easy ones on the big Addington track . De La Renta in race 8 from the good draw and Johnny Dunn on. You pick the 'other 9 races' lol. Allstars sending 2 around in race 9. Don't touch the Johny Cox one as he can't drive i have learnt here at BOAY. So A Bettor You with Blair Orange on is home for all money !!! I'm on a roll 2. patted two horses only at Albion Park last night , and then they both Won. (true story lol, went along for a birthday treat) so still got the winning touch lol...... 3

Gammalite
Addington today again ! well it's good to see (maybe) the 'Telfer Barn' once again showing their ability with a Trifecta in race 4 !. did very well, and like BD Joe and co, show the gap to Allstars is greatly reduced , with some fine training efforts this season. Natalie only 4th with the Allstars runner after nice trip in that race. Any tips today from you guys ? Time to 'ARDEN' Up 😆 and looks a great chance of a 60-1 double with STELLAR ARDEN in the junior's race R6 >> with SarahO steering should be a great chance ??. and MELODY ARDEN in Race 8 with Hurrell driving , who seems to be pretty good. 5-1 double for the place cover too. Fields today weren't attractive betting wise, unless you like backing favorites. Part of the reason is races over 1980 always dominated by horses that go forward and get to the rail. Not much point backing anything that you think will go back. Those couple of 2 year old races dominated by the telfers in one and the all stars in the other, personally i find a turn off to investing. Geraldine far better betting fields. Shame about the weather. I think geraldine has had cold weather more often than not in recent years. The ardern horses you mentioned today went ok. Sarah o'reilly a very good driver. Horses run for her,but she tends to drive with patience more often than not. Maybe its the horses she drives, but over 1980 you have little chance if coming from the back. Brodie
The wet track is a great leveller, and you can often throw the form book ouT the window! Didnt have a go today, and not bothering at the moment, until the NZ TAB Bookies pull their heads in and allow punters to net 2k on any fixed odds bet rather than win bets! They also need to allow punters to offload oncourse and agencies on the Power Plays. Thought it was a less than average drive by Mark Hurrell on that Melody Arden! Why would you hook out from having cover on the outside to go around and sit parked on a wet track, when it had no show of getting the front???? Where he was positioned,4 back the outside was too far back to get anywhere anyway,so i suppose he went down trying. The first 4 home all came from inside positions on the pylons. From a betting perspective he gave punters a run for their money. Didnt back Melody Arden but still maintain he shouldnt be hooking out and sitting parked when he had no show of getting the front over a lap out on a wet track. Pretty average field so a sprint from the 400m wouldve been more productive for the horse, but always poor drives in most races.

Fair enough,as with any subject, everyone has their own take on whether driver tactics during races are the most beneficial to getting the best result. I think the wet track thing is only a very minor factor myself as far as whether a driver should make a move or not.The most important are things like tempo and how the horse is best driven(is it a sit sprinter or a better stayer). In this case he made a move when the pace slackened.

The drive was very poor, no thought went into it, as the lead was never going to be there for Hurrell, with Nathan Williamson in front with a hot favourite! MArk Hurrell can drive, but that drive was very poorly thought out. They went a 1.58 mile rate on a slushy track and you deliberately put your maiden 2 year old filly parked as being in its best interests???
