Doomed
Full credit to Te Akau for their willingness to travel their horses. I bet Dave Ellis and Mark Walker are both on the Christmas card list of the Otago RC. Those three listed and Group races at Dunedin today were all on their last legs and the Te Akau contribution may well save the status of all three races for another year or so. Trainers of higher rated horses have the power to make or break some of these races. I recall Roger James had a couple of higher rated mares a couple of years ago and almost single-handedly saved the status of several Northern stayers races. And remember this is a meeting with a $40,000 maiden race, which is quite bizarre but that is a subject for another day, and enormous subsidy from the NZ racing industry as a whole. It might have been hard to justify all that industry money going forward if the meeting is reduced to one listed race at best.

But the owners of the odds-on shot in race 9 as well as the punters were reaching for the bucket on seeing the non fancied stablemate get up. Either the puppeteer or the punters have no idea. nod
What would the float fee be for Matmata to Dunedin and return? Just to Ttentham it was
Chief Stipe
Interestingly when we talk of altruism - was it in Te Akau's best interests to support the Guineas remaining at Riccarton when their Matamata/Cambridge neighbours were trying to get them moved? I think you are well off the mark with your "common business practice". That might be how you do business but you obviously have no evidence that TA do it.
