NZ jockeys have always held their own in Australia and IMO they are better riders than their Australian counterparts on a per capita basis.

Outside the main metropolitan tracks Australian jockeys are very poor and even many of their city jockeys lack judgement and patience.

As always, the pen is mightier than the sword and it's the half-baked Australian media who have (wrongfully) portrayed NZ jockeys as inferior.

So where would you rank collectively the Jockeys for a Premier Saturday Open race at Riccarton vs an Aussie venue?  Certainly not metro surely.

I assume you mean in OZ only?

How many are in the Top 10 in OZ?

I think Legarto could have carried anyone and won.

JMac is considered the best in the world.Jason Collett is in the top 6 in NSW...M.Dee in the top 5/6 in Victoria.

The only thing that would have stopped Legarto is' a good judge' picking her b4 the..race was run!😃

I actually think it was a pretty calm ride. A lesser jockey could easily have been tempted to drag the horse sideways for a clear run at them and lost a lot of ground. As it was, he just waited for a gap and luckily it came.
