If under 15.1 of the Standard Regulations for Race Meeting Regulations the Reefton club raised the stakes of each race by $5-$10K through sponsorship, community or trust funding you would be more than happy enough from the on flow of benefits.

Doesn't always compute through to improved fields

I have discussed that  multiple time before

No it doesn't.  Programming - sequencing relative to available horses, track conditions all play a bigger part.

Trainers also seem to have a perverse view of the world that the more money on offer the stronger the quality of the opposition.

Three meetings in a week never ideal, and most trainers unlikely to start at all three, hokitika still out in the cold.

Does the Westland club still want meetings? Or are they winding up operations.?

We're happy enough.

Once they set them in the draft it is not worth wasting your time trying to change them as they won't.

Just the world we live in

Are you going to have the same "amiable" chief stipe with you, or will they send someone who is not so hostile to the club?

In sure they would, more than likely had the snub given their gifting of their assets before someone else got their hands on it, I believe they very in a good financial position, but stand to be corrected.

Buggered if I know

But he hasn't heard the last of January 5th 2023 I can assure you of that.

Pretty much resigned to their fate and of course when you have no raceday the enthusiasm sooner disappears

They have gifted their share of the gates to the other three clubs and, I think, are a committee of two now.

Still generously sponsor the other three clubs each year though

I think it is safe to say the Westland Racing Club is history

In a properly-run  'tiered '  racing model that would be the case.    But it isn't.  The same horses plod round for fair stakes one day, crap stakes the next, with no ratings penalty differential.

The best one can do is place horses where distance/track conditions/grade is appropriate and cross fingers that sometimes, the gods smile and the stakes are decent too.
