  1. Australia could be under regulatory pressure. There are murumurings within the current Government about gambling restrictions. Yes and have you seen what ENTAIN have valued their intangible assets at in NZ?
  2. Bit strange he isn't getting more rides. Was a top apprentice in OZ. Listening to him talk on TV I liked his straight talking. Might be a bit much for some Trainers!
  3. Well it can't have been ENTAIN holding things up @curious ! Still no updated Futures for the Guineas.
  4. I agree regarding the stakes. However I got fooled once before. Remember Winnies million dollar races!! An unsustainable sugar hit.
  5. Have you seen anything done in the last 5 years to turn it around?
  6. 84 Nominations for the 2000 Guineas give or take.
  7. 107 nominations for the 1000 Guineas give or take.
  8. Best known but no substance. Which will become even more apparent as the Statutory Receiver works through the process. High Flyers with lots of marketing hype but little rubber on the road. A classic corporate ponzi scheme with over 70 interrelated companies all lending each other virtual money. As for the Chinese. Having had experience with a large construction company in Chongqinq I've always felt that their involvement in NZ construction would be thwart primarily for the main reason that stuffs up NZ Firms. Over regulation and compliance costs. Add to that unions!
  9. Everytime someone posts the name Pollyanna I think they are referring to the AWT's.
  10. Perhaps they are waiting for the nomination payment cheques to clear?
  11. Or maybe they are giving ENTAIN time to raise the cash to pay back the "pre-nom" bets? I see you can still get "pre-nom" bets even though noms closed two days ago!
  12. Perhaps there weren't any nominations and they are ringing round? Or have quietly reopened them because they are moving Cup Week to Auckland?
  13. Compared to the industry leaders who are releasing no frills media statements clearly stating the stark reality but more importantly with clear actions and a strategy for the future. Meanwhile we are still supposedly implementing the Mess-ara report or closer to the truth doing the same old same old.
  14. The Programming Committee based at Riccarton seems to be utilising Chaos Theory The fields don't look great for today's AWT meeting. Even @Pitman only has one in.
  15. Three years later what has changed?
  16. Du Val would be the worst reference example to use. They were all flash and no substance. Who in NZ can afford to fly around NZ in a Corporate Jet when their core business is in Auckland?
  17. No not insults just trying to work out why sometimes you write nonsensical posts. My apologies if you took it as an insult. I just can't fathom how someone who says they have owned a lot of horses (both codes), has been involved to many degree in the racing industry and still circulates with Racings elite thinks everything is going great.
  18. I can't be bothered commenting on this spin. I read similar speels of nonsense for the last 25 years. But what I will say is: the table in @curious post shows that not one meeting makes more revenue than the stakes that are paid. That is they all run at a loss from their core business. Hence the subsidies from ENTAIN shareholders and the Government keeping things going. The question is - is that sustainable?
  19. You realise you can now stream TV on your laptop or smart phone. It is advantageous in that you don't have watch what Betty in row three at the rest home wants to watch.
  20. Still missing the point. Obviously you only read the headline and the first paragraph.
  21. So what are you complaining about? The wrong word or the transportation of the dog?
