  1. Just like RITA needs to cut staff so did Air New Zealand. The difference is pre-Covid-19 Air New Zealand employed close to 11,000 people and were a large export revenue earner. So sometimes you need to reduce costs to save the employment of others. Note zero Government workers have been laid off and as far as I know there isn't a Government Department that earns significant export revenue.
  2. Many of their local suppliers have been disadvantaged.
  3. The families of the Wellington Govenrment employees who were allowed to first NOT work on full pay (Level 4), then allowed to work part-time on full pay at home (Level 3 AND Level 2) and now allowed to go back to the office and catch up on the backlog - no doubt full pay and overtime (Level 1). I guess the Adern will borrow more to keep paying government employees full pay from a declining taxation base.
  4. Yeah and Adern has the cheek to say she is "very angry with the Warehouse proposing to lay off 900 people.." FFS they employ over 8,500! We are lucky they are not laying off more!
  5. Well he kind of agrees as he defines them as "Covid related deaths." Those that died all had "comorbidities" - do you know what that means?
  6. No they are statistics of people who died WITH Covid-19 NOT because of it.
  7. Sign language your first?
  8. My apologies but my "brains" weren't educated to comprehend your literary style.
  9. Of course I forgot in today's PC world we can actually quantify the degree of lies.
  10. So we have had NO deaths from Covid-19 in NZ. Those that died did so from pre-existing conditions.
  11. What makes you a troll is you can't resist having a dig at Brodie and then start calling him a plonker, liar,......blah blah blah. Yes and some people like BDSM. They DON'T have to do anything Brodie tells them! But anyone of us can express an opinion. Calling someone a plonker or a liar is not the epitome of opinion expression.
  12. When he responds to your posts you are the first to start making it person - "plonker"..."telling fibs" .....etc. etc. Brodie has every right to express his opinion. He can tell anyone he wants what they should do however he doesn't have any power over them. 42 starts without returning a cheque you must admit is extreme! What's more if we had any sort of a decent racing integrity system the trainer and owners would be questioned about why the horse was still starting. In some jurisidictions it wouldn't be allowed to start!
  13. That individual arguably died from co-morbidities NOT Covid-19. Initially she was being treated for a case of the flu. Surprisingly there were no community transmission from this case not even many of her close family who were in contact with her during her illness. The 22 that did die have an average age in the mid-80's i.e. they had surpassed the mean life expectancy. Harsh but true. The majority were advanced dementia patients. The biggest killers of dementia patients are respiratory illnesses e.g. pneumonia. Covid-19 would have hastened their demise but not been the cause of death. Research done in the UK has shown that more than 66% of those who have died from Covid-19 would have died within the next year.
  14. Then WHY THE HELL Mehe DO YOU KEEP TROLLING Brodie? Is this a burgeoning bro-mance? If so - Brodie can you send Mehe a photo of yourself. Mehe put the photo on the wall and do whatever you need to do to stop your forum unsociable behaviour. Hint: In the privacy of your bedroom you can do anything UNLESS it's Level-2 and the Police believe you have more than 10 people in your house.
  15. I've just finished reading the proposed changes to the Bill. There is NOTHING in it relating to a POSITIVE generation of revenue. The focus is on a restructure with the creation of new entities - Racing NZ, TAB NZ, RIB (Racing Integrity Board) - isn't that more of the same? Plus legislation enabling the grabbing of club assets for "the benefit of racing as a whole." Can someone explain where Mesara got this idea from? I sure as hell can't see a similar approach in Australia.
  16. The realised cash from the sale of assets will go into the black holes never to be seen again. Awapuni and Riccarton come to mind. If you are going to sell assets at least have the foresight to plan for the future. Both Awapuni and Riccarton are dead ends. Why not invest in a Greenfields site in Canterbury that allows for the expansion of training facilities? If Cambridge can't afford to maintain their tracks with 1,200 horses being trained there then how is Riccarton going to do it? Unless they expand the number of horses being trained on site.
  17. Rule Number(s): 869(2)-Whip Regulation (b)Following the running of Race 2, the Allied Security-NZ Owned & Operated Mobile Pace, an Information was filed by Stipendiary Steward, Mr P Williams against Licensed Open Horseman, Mr J Cox, alleging a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the ... 18. Remember the days when you had to have trial form to get a start.
  19. I realise I'm asking some dumb questions but I'm not particularly au fait with everything Greyhound (could be a good thing!). How are Greyhounds identified? Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds are branded as well as DNA typed.
  20. But that wasn't due to the unprofitability of racing. I note in 2018 their expenses went up when the joined the Summer of Racing Programme and Butch Castles helped with raceday management.
  21. That makes sense. Is that where they got their $2m investment from? Who owns it now?

  23. The new legislation will force them to be registered as working dogs.
  24. Which? Pet or Working dog? If the latter why the proposed change to legislation in the Racing Industry Bill?
