You are 100% correct Muzza. In some areas he wrote what they told him to.

Worlds best Jockeys to compete against each other in World Series.
Dark Beau replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Sorry, I think that the game is all about the horses, certainly not Jockeys, but that is simply my opinion. -
I can’t tell you about Speedy Cheval. From memory he wasn’t with Kevin Ryder. One son is Chris Ryder a leading trainer in America who in July is going to be inducted into their Hall of Fame. Probably the first NZ’er to achieve such an accolade. Dexter Dunn has a very close association with Chris. Kevin himself spent a lot of time in his later years either in America training or trading horses up there. His youngest son (I can’t think of his first name) spent time training. He married a Smolenski girl, who’s first name was Joanne. Maybe he had Speedy Cheval. Goodness it’s bad when you can’t think of someone's first name. It must be age!

Freda, I have had the exact same thing from a senior trainers father, yet the son continues to trip to the CD, Trentham in particular and win too.

I hope then, that the current Mr Eales has success on it tomorrow. -
Yes we were useless in the Club championship but we did groom the AB’s. The whole time that I was playing the 4 or 5 years until racing took hold, as I said we were useless in the Club Championship but the Club Rooms in St Asaph Street were legionary from memory.

I was hanging around the Ryder stables in those days and Robert Dunn was a stable lad. Today I’ve gone back to my roots and have my first share in a trotter in over 50 years and it’s with RJ. For those interested it’s name is Suttle. P.S. still plenty of TB’s here and in Australia.

Yes, Jess it’s so sad. Like seagulls, they fly in, shit all over the place and then leave. When Alan Fenwick retired from NZTR the next CEO (Bittar) turned out exactly that and every encumbrance ever since has been the same. Tell me otherwise. P.S. I would love to run a book on who was the worst. Give me your thoughts 😂

What rubbish.

Where is John Dunn with his opportunities or have I got that wrong? -

Chief that’s too much of a diatribe for me, plus I actually have more important things to attend to, as I alluded too with one of my comments. What actually what stopped me reading after your very first response is that you twisted what I said. Iv’e tried to join in, share and comment but you are too hard to deal with, sorry. I guess your disciples will agree with you, but just incase someone agrees with me I’ll check back tomorrow to see if a get a solitary like 😉 -
I was of your faith (St Bedes) but crossed over to play with my Darlington/Linwood mates although when I made the Canterbury Team (5 stone 11 pounds) 😂 I was playing for Marist. At the time I was at Linwood I never made the senior team but we did have 5 All Blacks in it. Just to mention three: Tane Norton, John Ashworth & Fergie McCormack. The other two only played a game or too. I loved rugby in those days until I got involved with the horses and here I’ve stay without the slightest interest in Rugby these days.

There seem to be a few Christchurch boys in this thread, knocking about as late teenagers when I was, in the late 60’s. Did any of you play rugby for Linwood?

But a high percentage of the owners only have to spend about half an hour to get there. I love it when my horses are running there at it’s not too far from Awapuni for the horses to travel. It’s a beaut fair to all track. It very close for me and my very unwell wife who’s only enjoyment in life is all her horses so I guess it’s swings and roundabouts. Chief, one thing is for sure, we won’t be traveling to Hawera ourselves, so what we spend on the extra float fee is slightly offset by staying home. Oh and by the way, the sun has come out here on the Kapiti Coast, it’s a cool breeze and as I’ve been in the garden all morning I think that the track would have been otherwise OK. A bit of a nuisance really although because we would have gone (to Otaki) and the mare is trained to the minute, extra two days could be a problem-at least I’ll have another excuse 😂 -

Here is a comparison: Otaki - Hawera 209km - Car 2 hours 39 minutes (Google Maps) Awapuni - Cambridge 382km - Car 4 hours 36 minutes (Google Maps) Majestic Horse Floats cost to me one way in February - Cambridge to Awapuni $598.00 incl GST. Going from Awapuni to Cambridge in January was the same. The cost to float from Awapuni to Trentham (return) is $454 -Distance 127km. The distance from Otaki to Hawera is 209km. That is a difference increase of 64.57% therefore I would expect the cost of the Majestic to increase by the same thus making the round trip $747.00 P.S. My own horse will be traveling from Awapuni to Hawera instead of to Otaki. 167km instead of 65km. Therefore I guess that I will have to fork out one and a half times more Dollars that what I would have otherwise. -

Freda, like a lot of people on these sites some don’t know what they are talking about. The price quoted is absurd. -
I guess that’s were the boss gets his moniker Canterbury Man from. Harry had a couple of beauties, that’s for sure. Murray Baker and Noel Eales did the preparing or at least some of it.
-
Wouldn’t both the North and the South love to have Foxton and Levin. P.S. I was there to see two horses that I have shares in trial and even though I arrived before the scheduled time of the first one I was too late, that’s how well run an efficient they are! Never saw any petition, although I did see “Dummy” in serious talk with someone.

Thanks Sunline Boy, I am glad that you responded the way you have. I was so nearly out of here again given the uneducated, bigoted responses from so many on here. Having said that I am probably gone anyway with all the adds as I am not prepared to front up with $25 when the ‘other better’ sites don’t charge anything. Chief Stipe if you want my participation, overnight make me ‘add free’ or bye bye friend.

Who cares Sunline Boy. She is well known. Has been there and done that PLUS is a lovely lady doing her best, so good on her.

A stupid response. -
Have you just emerged from your 10 year slumber or are you poorly read? There’s not a person in the racing game and a lot outside of it who all know of Erin. Seriously do some research friend.
