  1. Keep searching brother Reon Murtha commentary priceless, he down to a walk, and now a crawl, he's broken up, never won a race from memory.
  2. Classic race and commentary that day, pity one couldn't see a replay, only on the coast.
  3. Shifted years ago after a horse ran off and over the outside fence, nothing to do with the corner, girl didn't steer the horse around the corner, picked him up at blacks point, I'm sure the angle never used to be that bad, in the right place for me today, backed up on Sinai sermon, unreal the 40s on offer for last start winner, helped get over the 51s fixed I missed at Westport, great racing up there today, very hot weather, grass track racing at it's best.
  4. Yes no preliminaries poor, even on some other meeting the go out the birdcage gatecin opposite direction, gone are the dsy of heading up the straight and a preliminary past the crowd, especially on the coast, unless they have to pass crowd to get to the barriers
  5. Yes totally agree, some say great ride, others say what were the best of the rest riders thinking leaving the rail open, realistically his only option of winning.
  6. Good racing on the coast today, found that roughie I was looking for sinai sermon, got fleeced on div, back tote odds 32s v 34 fixed 2 minutes before race start, I ended up 26s with tote, fixed closed at over 50$, what a bloody wrought, totally don't understand the gap in such a short time, almost sure it's a teaser, interesting that the horse is a full brother to the mighty Lazarus.
  7. Trots hit the coast on Friday, fields not to bad given Oamaru on Wednesday, with the weather they've had should be a good day out, any tips from the punting fraternity, longshots be good,no dodgy starting positions over there.
  8. Yes a bloody tragedy, and almost cost a human life, one wonders what people are thinking, great to see Chris back riding winners, obviously made of tough stuff.
  9. Good on them, did like our echo, draw did put me off, bloody tough to win with a wide draw down there, well done to them all, a win for the battlers, got to be good, see the the 3yr old winner sold a couple of times on gavelhouse for a bargain price, racing looked good down there, plenty competitive finishes.
  10. No luck your tip, hard to win when your parked out, draw the sticking point, you've gone from the million man Ted dibase to Bad News Brown, from the streets of Harlem, wasn't he a character. Ah the memories.
  11. Or a mr perfect, I see what you done there, the good ole days, when wrestling was wrestling, got a few of the cards that came out with the bubble gum, I have many favorites from the WWF, the old bushwackers were an interesting couple, Luke an butch, good luck with your tip, you might end up the million dollar man.
  12. Recovering from a hulk Hogan body slam,
  13. More importantly do they pay a divvy twice yearly, shares very long term, if you buy them, store em away for the long haul.
  14. Thanks for the update,
  15. How did they go with their gallopers they purchased, from memory one by savabeel.
  16. Sad to hear of his accident, in saying that we all face danger in what ever we do, some more than others, hope he recovers ok, sound like very nasty injuries.
  17. Well I can recall going to kumara since I was a teenager, great days racing, track never changed, wether a month of rain or a month of good weather, track was like a sponge, as soon as the upgraded better drainage, has been a disaster, they made it just to good, haven't been back since the first in a long line of abandonments, surprised it didn't cripple them, now every meeting one holds their breath, and wishes them luck, if they race is in the lap of the gods, maybe there's just not enough knowledge out there, and funds as well, it's a no win
  18. Its interesting these days, everyone seems to be an expert, there everywhere, one certainly wonders to what degree, a wise man once told me, if you gonna wreck something, you'll may as well wreck it to your own specifications.
  19. They threw a fair amount of revenue at the new Auckland track, and that certainly has had its issues, my point being most upgraded tracks were better before they were fiddled with, maybe there's just not the knowledge out there, and how to go about it.
  20. And how many have been so called upgraded for the betterment of racing, these seem to be the worst offenders.
  21. Interesting, a friend always used to back number 1 at trots, always maintained anything with a little ability that had the trip was always a chance with the passing lane and a perfect trip, certainly got some big divs over the years, but comming off the rail quite often difference between winning and getting beaten, just the halted momentum costs many, I agree with your thoughts ,but split second decision to be made, but many of them are professional drivers.
  22. Good horse Scotch Mist, was by balios out of high glow, won a couple of races at avondale back in the day.
  23. Yes back in the day quite a few coast trainers, also support from the odd Nelson and marlborough trainer, and of course canterbury, the late Ray Harris always patronized the coast well will large numbers, Brutus, Scotch Mist, Wordly Miss, to name a few better ones, Jim Lalor(Charlies Pal) another who came to the coast, Shorty Healy from Nelson, and of course the Parsons, who still continue to train, as you point out the racing these days totally reliant on the Myers stable, also the Canterbury connection, don't think currently any thoroughbreds trained there, used to be the Kennedys, the Doolans, not sure if the Hamptons have any these days, times certainly have changed even the kumara track, not sure for the better, as the abandonments since the track upgrade have been a few.Westport jockey club ceased racing in 1996, times certainly changed.
  24. Those were the golden days of racing in my book,, some of the mentioned were very classy animals, we look at todays racing just a shadow of what we used to have, cups races are no more than hack races, many can't even run the two miles, or even a decent time, talking of miles better, someone told me his owner went in to the pie making business, the coast racing always was the most enjoyable.
  25. Oops yes sorry guys, ment to be years and horses, was past my bedtime.
