  1. I see on HRNZ they reported that Stent died in an accident while in the paddock. See he was a riding horse in his new life which is pretty cool. Shame he went early as he was a really good horse. His mum, Belle Galleon, has left some top horses and the latest one racing, Daisy Hill, looks pretty handy too.
  2. So what does one produce at the casino?
  3. Dumb question maybe. What happens if I win $1000 at the pokies or at the casino? Do I pull out my casino card?
  4. Veneto sold for $300 on horsetrader. That is the cost of two winning restricted bets for some.
  5. What happened to PGG?
  6. It just highlights the inconsistencies of what constitutes a false start. The horse was 'at' the start and decided not to race. But, was it in position? Does an unruly horse get less leeway? The report is not up yet but my guess is it will simply say Crusher C chose not to go and, maybe, to trial satisfactorily once, which would be a joke considering what others horses get away with.
  7. No "Have Faith In Me" in this story sadly...
  8. It seems like the TAB will play the compassionate publicity card when the stakes are not too high. 44K is not much to them. Obviously, the 'justice payout' was just too high when it comes to the cricketeres. I just wish the next time my horse gets skittled by the winner and the stipes do nothing they give me my 5 each way back. The TAB has refunded $44,000 worth of bets on the Warriors in the wake of the Kiwi NRL club's controversial defeat to Parramatta on Saturday. The Warriors were denied what would have been a spectacular match-winning try in the dying stages after the referees ruled Roger Tuiavsa-Sheck's flick pass to have gone forward. The visitors were also on the wrong end of a 9-2 penalty count, with the Eels not conceding a penalty between the ninth and 80th-minute. A message on the TAB website said the bookmaker had decided to refund all head-to-head bets on the Warriors, labelling it a "justice payout".
  9. and Kardesler wins...that must sting if my memory serves me right. How many times was that horse looked at on the grass at the Mot...
  10. I did. Second is good. Nothing is better than getting a call right, with justification, of how you see it will unfold. Especially in public on here. Just about better than making lots of cash if it had won, but that is always nice as it is icing on top. Made my night after a busy week. ?
  11. Great call boss
  12. I wasn't getting at you. I was just saying Brodie is renowned for having an opinion...regardless of circumstances?
  13. See it has moved in a touch. Always a good sign with a Purvis horse.
  14. Aucklanders live in the fast lane so mile racing suits them. Shame the philosophy doesn't apply to their apartment buildings however.
  15. Someone give me a winner for tomorrow night please because I have as much chance of getting a winner as Brodie does of putting a bet on valued at over 5 dollars. If nothing forthcoming, I will just back Cran Dalgety horses all night....? Anything appreciated.
  16. but 3) he still has an opinion
  17. And Forbury did it last week with the races finishing about 8.35. It was really good as no sooner were the horses off the track that the next ones were coming out. I thought it was perfect for a cold winter's night at a minor meeting with average horses. The facilities at most harness racing clubs are not conducive to hanging around outside or inside! If you make me wait I will be gone. Any grass track venue for harness racing will see a clear drop off in patrons after race 6 or 7 when the length between races is extended by about 15 minutes. The whole thing falls flat. Harness racing should go from 11 to 4pm and leave anytime after that to the gallops. Big meetings or major courses could maintain longer times to keep their on course dining patrons happy. Just have to have more flexibility to match the occasion otherwise it is bloody boring. No one unless they are semi addicted is willing to hang around for 10 races at a track. I digressed from the title of thread but it is much the same in either code.
  18. Better than Xmas.
  19. Interesting. It is one of those horses that kind of runs on now and again and deceives you. It is not really a winning racehorse at the moment. It could win one day when it drops back into a much easier race when it has a good draw.
  20. Just had a thought, Maybe the southern horses are not stoppping at Addington and just keeping on going to Alexandra Park for the big stakes and easy pickings lol.
  21. Good time of year to have a rest. Bed must seem inviting instead of getting up in this temperature.
  22. The old boys races they used to run for the above 6 year olds seem to have gone. They used to do something like that a few years ago or similar. I thought they were good value and a bit of a change from the ho hum.
  23. It is a long time to be away from home or a massive effort to come up each week from the south. Not so bad if the horse is domiciled at someone else's property. Maybe they know Unloaded is the horse of the series and there is no sense in staying for peanuts?
  24. I can still suckered into or get scared of Dalgety or McGrath horses just by reputation and TAB odds when I know better. I throw them in trebles or quaddies etc and it just blows the percentage or cost. When I am studying the form (and consequently in form myself) I don't get trapped so easily and wonder why oh why some things are made favourite when they clearly shouldn't be. Mitchell Kerr and Reagan Tood are two trainers who have made a name for themselves recently and the TAB are pretty tight on anything they produced to the races, whether they are good or bad. I am not following the horses really closely at the moment but horses like Sweet Loress always get backed but I am never sure why as it never wins.
