Oddly enough, it seems the rules allow for the referral to the JCA for minor infringement offences. The rules do not allow for referral to the RIB. Both those decisions should be quashed.

The breed won't die out if someone really wants one. I'm sure there will be plenty of retired Greyhounds in Australia that can be had for free, if the prospective new owner will pay the airfare & quarantine costs of bringing one over. One or two emails sent over there will source more dogs than anyone would know what to do with. I wouldn't surprise me if the Australian owner would even share in some of the associated costs.
-
It's obvious to me, Chloe, Aaron (GPL) and to a lesser extent SAFE are all more worried about the GAMBLING aspect on the greyhounds than they are about the dogs themselves. If an end is put to greyhound racing, that's not going to stop them from running. They will still run on the beach or a paddock and some, maybe just as many, will get hurt doing so. But you won't hear them putting up a stink about that.
-
Seems the race replays are a thing of the past too. That'll surely put a hurt on turnover. To punt on greyhounds only on the form line is only a bit more effective than playing the past numbers drawn in lotto in the next drawing, thinking they're more likely to come in. As most people know. every greyhound on the track isn't there to be the first one to the lure.

For GRNZ to claim that 1 dog gets rehomed from each LITTER whelped isn't saying very much! That's why I suggested they might have meant "whelped" instead of "bred", but that would be an outright lie. If it's not one of those two options, which way could I possibly read that sentence to make it seem even remotely a positive? When is "Homebush Rehoming" & "Big Time Rehoming" planning on opening up their shops to get even 1 dog out of each litter they "breed" rehomed (we'll skip the relevant but much tougher question for now)? Maybe we should discuss imports as well, Glenda?

Already answered this question!

Huh? 1 dog (bitch) "bred" = multiple pups in almost all cases, right? If this "Independant" report was meant to read "whelped" instead of "bred", then that would be saying that every dog born gets rehomed. That'd be pretty easy to prove as false... She aint got shit. She's out of her depth, doesn't know what she's talking about & a burden on a potential future of the industry. Why hasn't anyone heard from her, until she HAD to say something?

Well I suggested my solution to your questioning & the thread died there.... When can I expect my Brodster Prize (BOAY's version of the Nobel Prize) for being "On The Money" @Chief Stipe https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/450619/greyhound-racing-industry-on-notice-over-transparency-animal-welfare-minister Animal welfare concerns The review also found that while the number of greyhounds euthanised had reduced significantly in the past four years, 'no reason given' was "the most common reason by a significant margin". While progress had been made on rehoming, many dogs were not suitable due to their behaviour and a lack of socialisation, and had been criticised as an "ambulance at the bottom of the cliff" measure.

Government puts greyhound racing on notice after review into industry
Yankiwi replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Dog Chat
Well GRNZ, seems Parliament wasn't overly impressed with your IndependAnt Review... https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/sport/2021/09/greyhound-racing-industry-put-on-notice-after-government-review-into-animal-welfare-concerns.html https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/450619/greyhound-racing-industry-on-notice-over-transparency-animal-welfare-minister My advice to the GRNZ board, immediately remove the top two cogs from headquarters & replace those two positions with ONE position/person that can actually get the job done. You let the last one with the talent, know-how & drive to get it done head off overseas to take up a key position with GRV. https://www.grv.org.au/about-us/grv-leadership-team/ How's GRV tracking since his arrival there? -
The RIB (RIU) is now responsible for sorting out the race day Vet as I recall. Where's top dog when he was needed most? Godber probably busy sorting out a reprimand for top dog.

Everyone ready for level four! Covid 19... Again
Yankiwi replied to Gospel of Judas's topic in Covid-19 and Racing
Here's the NZ racing industries response. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1mAwhXHFFM -
Hold on a minute here. Brodster is Disturbed? Good on him then! I think it's awesome when a heavy metal band strips down a classic & proves they've got what it takes to make a remarkable song remarkable again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk7RVw3I8eg

Brodie, how dare you? Cindy is NZ's one source of Covid information. Didn't you hear her tell you that? BTW - I'm still waiting for my 9 weeks (7 weeks last year & 2 weeks so far this year) extension from the NZTA to my car registration that I had to prepay for the right to use NZ road in the manner I legally wish to use them. I didn't prepay for the right not to be able to use the roads because of Crown lock-down laws!

I finally broke down & paid them a visit (as a visitor). 5+ years since I've posted over there. First post Jan 17, 2014 - Final post Apr 24, 2016. They only got 2+ years out of me. Chiefs got 3+ years & counting. That said, now Chief knows the underlying action to making me disappear.
-
They moderated me so I simply stopped posting over there. Shortly there after, I stopped visiting. I didn't want them to get credit for my page views. I had an email pop up from them yesterday for the first time I can remember about some kind of Spring competition. I hope they don't expect a reply or action. They're dead to me.

How long will we remain in Level Four in New Zealand?
Yankiwi replied to Gospel of Judas's topic in Covid-19 and Racing
What's the thoughts on this trial? Seems to be more along the line of a normal kind of vaccine to me, but I'm not very clued up on the subject. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/rotorua-daily-post/news/covid-19-coronavirus-trials-start-in-papamoa-and-rotorua-for-possible-new-vaccine/AR6GKWCXSITKVRI5LVQSQA3TC4/ or https://www.stuff.co.nz/nelson-mail/news/126099487/covid19-new-european-vaccine-being-trialled-in-nelson -
How long will we remain in Level Four in New Zealand?
Yankiwi replied to Gospel of Judas's topic in Covid-19 and Racing
By my count, currently the Covid vaccine thus far has killed more people in NZ than the Delta variant has... -
Hmmm... Some might think I'm an insider now... lol How's this for timing. MSN from 44 minutes ago. My question was 6 hours ago... https://www.msn.com/en-nz/news/world/un-atomic-watchdog-believes-north-korea-has-restarted-nuclear-reactor/ar-AANSOwe?ocid=msedgntp

Aquaman, you seem to be pretty clued up with the political play in the States. Couple of questions for you ~ How do you feel Biden has handled the withdrawal from Afghanistan? Once Afghanistan has become a memory, how do you think he'll fare when North Korea pops it's head up again?

The easy answer - The virus had little or no effect on middle earth (the CD) & the countries leading trainer (well in name anyways). When a certain trainer or trainers have the Racing Manager looking after them like he seems to do for no others (think back to the Amazing Farce), then those trainers tend to get what they want. Another explanation could be that with a CANINE corona virus, GRNZ could throw animal welfare out the window at first opportunity to get them back on the track, with little chance of getting caught, whether the dogs are ready to run or not... With a HUMAN corona virus, GRNZ are powerless to throw those welfare issues to the wind. See this thread - https://bitofayarn.com/topic/59894-virus-fiasco/#comments

SHUSH, SILENCE - don't let the word get out. This could be the most cunning ever RIB (RIU) investigation underway into the the under reporting of dogs that reside in a trainers kennels. How could it get any cheaper than $5 each for the industry to get trainers into dubbing themselves in for exceeding their maximum number of dogs allotted to them to have on the property by the RIU when they first became trainers? I'm sure the local councils will be informed as well. I'd hate to think that GRNZ or the RIB would withhold relevant legal information from the authorities.
