Hi Sharon, In his first race he did turn his head outwards towards the #1 dog here. While it could have been the #2's rear end forcing his head in that direction is a possibility & would have probably gone with that opinion, if I hadn't watched his following 3 races. In his second race he does show that he is a hard railer. However, with that said I believe he is turning his head outwards in this frame beginning to look for the #8 dog far to his outside. The #7 & the #8's attention is 100% on the lure. Just a few strides on & he's already beginning to come well off the rail because of his interest in the #8. So it's my opinion that he didn't "get lost" at all, he just had his attention swayed... To me, that is a precursor to what he did today. He's gaining confidence in the playing with other dogs game. Just look at the trophy he got for his mum from todays run! What will happen after today, well no one knows... But I'm pretty sure about which direction he's currently going. I'm sure he's a lovely dog. Probably wouldn't hurt the flea that will someday be aggravating his skin somewhere & the kind of dog that leans hard up against you when he wants your attention. Maybe even gives you a nibble on the hand, as gently as possible, when it's getting close to feeding time. Cheers, Charles

Got lucky this time, as no dogs have been killed by this dog yet. It was charged for marring this time but it looks like it will probably be back after its 28 day stand down. Two races back it gave this performance from the #5 box... And from the 3 box, it had a go at the #1 dog in it's first race day start (which went undetected by the clown detectives). This dog only wants to play with the other dogs, not purse a lure. How's about giving it an early retirement so it can go play with other dogs & let those that want to be racing greyhounds do just that?

I'd consider a person who would write the following "answer" to another members question to have some clear limitations.
-
I see someone is already employed by the RIU to investigate instances such as this... That decision seriously lacks integrity, so I'm sure the person employed to address such matters will be all over this tomorrow. I'll be checking the RIU website for an update as to the outcome.
-
The RIU are always quick to jump in at remit time... yet they can't be bothered with the rules that are already in place & simply make them up as they go along. Where again does it say in rule 11.1b that a Steward has the right to quash a previous decision? I guess this is the sort of thing we should expect from someone that helped write the welfare code, but didn't know how to understand it on action day, not that long ago. "But where are the clowns, Send in the clowns... Don't bother.. They're already here"
-
On second thought, I don't even think it is in the Stewards right to overturn a decision that has already been made under 11.1b. 11.1 Unless otherwise provided in these Rules: (b) the powers of the Stewards to investigate any matter or thing relating to or arising out of the conduct at a Meeting shall continue for four (4) months after the Meeting or for such further time as the Board may allow. So a Steward has the power to investigate, but a Steward doesn't not have the power to overturn a previous decision. The charge had been filed & the dog had received an endorsement. The Steward has no right to overturn the decision... That's a job for the JCA to do...

One word to describe this Stewards decision.... "Clown" https://www.grnz.co.nz/catch-the-action/13456/stewards-report.aspx Race 4:- Acting on GRNZ Rule 11.1b Stewards further reviewed this race and as a consequence withdrew the charge of Marring against GOLDSTAR ALASKA however directed it to perform a satisfactory trial prior to being nominated to race. Dog #8 in this race.... So I suppose if it didn't mar.. that means it pursued the lure for the entire race??? I'm smelling something foul in the south island again....

Unless there are thunder storms in the area, I wouldn't expect anything to be changing polarity tonight.

The position on offer (which WILL be filled from within) is with the RIU. If the GRNZ board decides to separate ties with the RIU & put integrity matters back under direct GRNZ control, then who would the top dog of the new found integrity provider answer to? Or directly to the GRNZ board? (Headquarters.. it appears to need updating) Another quorum (at least) of clowns, full of conflicts & self interests... Under either scenario, the first controversial or un-liked change that was made, or one of their mates that had some integrity enforced on them, would see my future with the employer in serious jeopardy. Image myself tuning up at the Fahey's kennel, unannounced, and rejecting the cup of tea which was offered as it wasn't a social call and I had a job to do with urgency. How would the GRNZ board view that? It'd only take 4 of them to send me packing, wouldn't it?

I don't want my tax dollars to house him for the next how many years. I don't want my tax dollars used to feed him. I don't want my tax dollars used for a lawyer to defend him. Previous to the crime, he documented what he planed to do & did exactly that. He videoed himself during the time he carried out his plan. How can any defence, anyone could offer, even be remotely be considered in the courts. He claimed in his manifesto that he was going too plead innocent as he was protecting his land (which isn't even his) from the fertile invaders. So I say surrender him to those who are where he believed the "fertile invaders" originally came from & let them hand down justice to him as they see fit. I'm sure they'd welcome the opportunity as opposed to watching a long drawn out NZ court case which dealt a feather duster sentence.
-
Yes I have watched part of the video & yes I have read the entire manifesto. I believe NZ needs to make a VERY firm statement over what has happened within its shores. While words go towards helping those who are in disbelief and/or grieving, those words will have no bearing on what might be going through the next nut cases mind. Here's an idea for relatively immediate punishment which could make a VERY firm statement. Toss the NZ justice system to the side for his act of terrorism. This crime is so much larger than NZ law. He's an extreme right winger, so give him a taste of his own belief. Remove him from his jail cell in handcuffs & shackles & transport him the Christchurch airport. Put him on a plane & escort him to one of the overseas Muslim strongholds he made reference to in his manifesto. Hand him over to the leaders in the chosen stronghold with a sign stuck to his back that says "I did it" & let them deal with him. Let's not let it drag the country down any further than it already has for years & years to come. He doesn't deserve a place in a NZ prison. I do not what my tax dollars supporting him.

Funny you bring this up Girly... I relinquished my GRNZ license in 2015, yet I still have voting papers, in the original envelope they came in, here for the 2016 NZGRA BOARD ELECTIONS. I've also got the self addressed return envelope addressed to Phil Holden/Vikki Lust, which was against GRNZ rules in 2016. Therefore - I had the opportunity to vote for the LP Rep even though I was no longer an LP... How's that for integrity from the 2016 version of GRNZ headquarters?

The RIU have let male dogs be scratched for being in season. Sasha McBell was scratched more than once when she was still a male. It took me three inquiry's to finally get it rectified and she finally became a bitch of record just before she was retired.... So much for race day greyhound identification...

Quite a compliment Arsenic. Thank you for that. I have previously entertained the idea of becoming a Steward. It's a position I feel I could really excel at under the right circumstances. That said, I can not image myself dealing on that level with all the corruption which would be surrounding me, which I've been able to detect even from the outside looking in. What advancements towards instilling integrity does anyone think I could succeed in, with a line up of superiors that looks like this? Some serious cage rattling would be required & it's something I'm very good at doing. But cage rattling also needs support of your superiors or you end up being the egg that gets cooked. Who do you think Mike would be backing, if I went to him with some serious concerns over his #2 or #3 man? Well, since I'm not an ass kisser, I know exactly where I'd stand in that kind of show-down. So thanks again for the suggestion Arsenic, but there's no way in hell I would ever set my integrity aside to go to work for them clowns.

Know alls wouldn't have a chance of filling this position. The ad is merely written as a formality to fulfil requirements. The precursors are written so the role will be ultimately be filled by someone already on the RIU books.

Word on the street... GW leaving end of May.

I've found medicines are nothing but revenue generators for the drug company's. What I've found that works is to just nominate 8 dogs from your team for the same race. Then the day before the race meet simply scratch the 7 dogs in your team that you don't want to win because of general soreness. Of course, sometimes you might be targeting all three place getters so if that's the case, only scratch 5 of your dogs & give the one you really want to win a livey the night before the race meeting. Success is guaranteed & there's no need to travel to PN or Foxton....

Yes & the rabbit that's getting tied on the lure arm also has ears that are resisting gravity, not something that a plush toy or a dead rabbit would do.
-
If somehow this isn't an example of live/dead baiting.... Why does this dog (behind Cole) have a muzzle on... and this one doesn't have a muzzle?
-
You can't wield a gavel when your superiors have you in a set of handcuffs behind your back.
