  1. From what I've heard, several had made statements over this case & then chose to withdraw their statement, presumably to protect Cole. I suggest protection mode should now be a bygone as it's very likely he'll be going down. Those withdrawn statement could be turned back on those who chose to withdraw them. Do the right thing people & help to protect your personal interest as well. Step back up, make your official statement & let justice take it course.

https://www.grnz.co.nz/catch-the-action/13485/stewards-report.aspx 2). Stewards followed up the condition of BEN VANE KING (JT McInerney) after the greyhound sustained a suspected fractured or dislocated right hock during race 8 at Addington last Thursday. It was reported the dog had undergone X-Rays were it was confirmed it to have a fractured hock with it being retired from racing.

What am I missing here?? http://www.jca.org.nz/non-race-day-hearings/non-raceday-inquiry-riu-v-j-t-mcinerney-reserved-decision-dated-4-april-2019-chair-mr-r-g-mckenzie The summary of facts says that the dog dropped at the lure... 4. Mr McInerney jointly owned and trained the 3yo bitch NIPPAOFSAMBUCCA which finished second in Race 6 at the Southland Greyhound Racing Club’s meeting at Ascot Raceway on 25 January 2019 before fatally collapsing at the lure. The RIU swab the dead dog and find this... 6. A small amount of blood and a minute amount of urine was obtained from the deceased dog by the RIU raceday vet prior to a post mortem being conducted. 7. The post mortem revealed an enlarged left ventricular and the cause of death was diagnosed as a heart attack. 8. The samples were sent with the other race-day swabs to the New Zealand Racing Laboratory Services (NZRLS) for analysis. 9. On 07 February NZRLS issued a Certificate of Analysis detailing the blood sample (#109372) positive to Lignocaine. And the JCA hand down this as a penalty, because it's possible that the dog might have licked someone's hand??? [29] Mr McInerney is fined the sum of $2,500. Note to self: Never purchase a race dog from this trainer... [21] The Committee accepts that Mr McInerney is “devastated” (to use his own word) at the loss of NIPPAOFSAMBUCCA. He described her as “a nice young dog”, in good form and he estimated her value at $10,000. The Committee notes that, prior to the race on 25 January, she had raced 100 times for 16 wins and 28 placings, for stakes in excess of $27,000.

So, had some sardines on a homemade pizza for dinner tonight. I don't feel any differently than I did before the meal. Shortland Street still had no appeal for me. However, I'm now feeling stressed because I thought a bit forward & realized that if I'm subject to random drug testing on Monday at work, I just might end up having to put my name forward for the head stipe position with the RIU, if work kicks my arse to the curb for failing their test. Maybe I should bake up a batch of poppy seed muffins & share them with all my work mates first thing on Monday morning. Then if they have testing, they'll have too kick all our arses to the curb & never meet any of their dead-lines.

There was no minimum rest period for a dog whatsoever, not that long ago. Heads were turned when GRNZ came out with the rule/policy that no greyhound could be raced two days in a row. Some of those heads were spun around and thought wow, GRNZ is finally doing a little something to stop the flogging of dogs. Other heads were turned, then were scratched, as they tried to work out how they were going to cope with only three starts per week for some of their animals... I recon there should limit the distance a single dog can run to 1KM per week. 3 sprints in a week, somewhat acceptable in the interim until stricter measures are in place (375 Palmy + 305 Wang + 305 Wang = 985m) (410 Palmy + 305 Wang + 305 Wang = 1020m & over the limit) (375 Palmy + 305 Wang + 318 Auck = 998m) 2 middle distance in a week, again somewhat acceptable in the interim until stricter measures are in place (457 + 520 or 527 but not 520 + 520 or 520 + 527). 1 distance maximum per week. The problem with this is who's going to do all distance the count ups for all the dogs? There's already more than enough desks at headquarters. Surely a person at one of those desks can count. Maybe it'd be a good daily task for the Welfare Officer to take on & help to justify her pay packet, if she can count.

Didn't Wheeler already have his Australian greyhound license taken off because of some greyhounds he had exported?
  10. Yankiwi

    Greg Kerr

Because a foreign dog racing in NZ is a privilege, not an inherent entitlement. If the $20K dog is put into the GAP program or rehomed privately in NZ, then that makes one less willing member of the public to rehome a dog such as Bigtime Disappearance or Homebush Hideaway. Then after the next review we'll hear about one nameless retired greyhound per day that has been rehomed & the three greyhounds per day that have fallen off the radar, which no one knows what has "officially" happened to them. Maybe NZ should ban the ownership of all breeds of dog as a family pet other than a greyhound. That would solve the abundance & backlog of retired greyhounds in NZ & make the tariff redundant.
  11. Yankiwi

    Greg Kerr

No dogs are banned by this new ruling. A fully refundable tariff is going to be put in place. Someone that wants to export a dog to race in NZ will have to pay the tariff. When it's done racing here it then can be returned to it's place of birth & the money refunded or the owner decided to leave it in NZ & forfeits the tariff. Pretty basic really.... Further to this, if the owner doesn't like the tariff, then they can simply not export it to NZ.

    Greg Kerr

Another big difference is when NZ sends a dog to Australia to race, it's there because it was a stand-out dog in it's place of birth. Most dogs that are sent from Australia to NZ are on a stand-down because of their racing manners. Outstanding aye?
  13. Yankiwi

    Greg Kerr

And get the $100K refunded when the horse returns back to NZ?

It's the Stewards job to put any dog out that has a visual impairment. 56.10 Where a Greyhound is examined by the officiating Veterinarian at a Meeting or Satisfactory Trial or Qualifying Trial and is found to have or suspected of having impaired vision in one or both eyes, the Stewards shall order the Greyhound to be prohibited from competing in a Race until such time as: (a) a specialist veterinary ophthalmologist, approved by the Board, examines the Greyhound and certifies that the Greyhound’s vision is adequate to allow the Greyhound to see the Lure; and (b) the Greyhound has completed a Satisfactory Trial. Blinkers are designed to be an impairment to prereferral vison. So the way the rule is written I believe that any greyhound MUST be certified that it's vision isn't impaired by the apparatus (blinker/blinkers), even when it turns it head towards another dog. So unless the race day vet is "a specialist veterinary ophthalmologist, approved by the Board", then a dog wearing blinkers should not be allowed to start in any race wearing them.

Prepare for the next farce... Now their going to try racing it partially blind... I don't believe dressing a dog up in a Stewards costume is going to help with this one, other than maybe receiving another FTP charge for marring.... She'll be right, the Vet will get it sorted... https://www.grnz.co.nz/catch-the-action/13464/stewards-report.aspx 4) BERTIE ALLEN, GREGOROVITCH (both C Roberts) and YI FENG (J McInerney),in blinkers, all completed Satisfactory Trials as required.

  21. Don't be silly enough to rely on hear-say information found on a forum. All the track information anyone needs to know is posted on the WGRC website. https://www.wanganuigreyhounds.co.nz/track-information/ (Yes I realize it takes you to an empty page) Well done WGRC. Your website claims to be copyrighted in 2014.... After 5 years maybe you should consider actually using it or cancel your website hosting service & use the saved funds to overthrow your club president in your next undercover operation.
  22. I can speculate for you. The will be less injured greyhounds for smaller trainers going forward (because one kennel dominating nominations is expected to continue well into the future thus keeping the small trainers dogs off the track) It's been a couple of months now, so the new health & safety measures will be ignored/forgotten. A new neon "Chemist" sign is to be erected in the trainers parking area. Negations are underway between the clubs largest trainer and the short listed potentials to become the front line CD Steward.

Can I offer just a bit of friendly advice Sharon? Just so you're aware, GRNZ headquarters & the RIU regularly view this site & now that you've identified who your user name belongs too, you'll have to be doubly careful not upset the apple cart so to say. I'm no longer an LP so if I decide to say that I believe GW doesn't know what he's doing and here's why, there not a heck of a lot the RIU or GRNZ can do about it. On the other hand, since you're an LP, if you decided to say something like that they can rain down on you, under their social media policy, just so they can have a feel good moment about themselves. As you're probably already aware... the capped crusaders enforce the rule more on who you are, more so than what you may have done. I don't know which side of that knife blade you might be on.....
