The best tipster is not Brodie...it is....
Counter Punch replied to Happy Sunrise's topic in Trotting Chat
Key number in that press release is the ROI. If a tipster is returning a strong ROI consistently, then they're worth following. Greg O is pretty astute. Does more homework and form than anyone I know and those results above are no surprise. He consistently finds winners in his selections, even some of the longer ones. Mark Mac tends to look for the value in a selection. I like that. -
Thought Miss Pinocchio was a decent each way bet in the last race of the day for the late players.

Standardbred Sales - Seem to be struggling?
Counter Punch replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
You're a numbers man, Brodie. Bettor's Delight results after a quick count up over the past few days. Auckland: Horses offered: 35 Horses sold: 31 Total spent: 1,451,000 Average: $46,800 (rounded) Highest price: $140,000 + 4 x others $100k + ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Christchurch: Horses offered: 76 Horses sold: 63 Total spent: $3,268,000 Average: $51,870 (rounded) Highest Price: $170,000 x 2 + 4 x others $100k + --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Combined: Horses offered: 111 Horses sold: 94 Total Spent: $4,719,000 Average: $50,200 (rounded) So, the question is - how do we assess this based on your point that there is no money to be made from breeding to Bettor's Delight with the intention of sending the resulting foal to the sales. Quite simply, I guess. You can. Yes, it might not be much in some instances, and there will even be instances where it won't result in a profit, but largely - by the numbers - if you breed a horse to him for $25k there is statistical data to show that you have a chance of making some form of profit on that original investment + other costs. IMO - the last three days have signaled a well overdue change in direction for the sales. Today's sale looked, on face value to be a huge success. By my count 43 horses today worth $50k and more, I can remember writing out a TOP 10 list from sales day a few years back where numbers 8,9 and 10 were below that. We needed improvement in this sector of the industry - and we've got it by the looks of it. -
Keep an eye on Smooth Debate in Race 5. Caught my eye at Methven a few weeks ago making up stacks of ground late on very tight lines. Will win one at short notice and is great each way value tomorrow.

New TAB Website - Unbeleivably poor for $40million!!!
Counter Punch replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Actually, yes I am. But hadn't even thought of that when sharing my opinion. I'll quite happily say that it had nothing to do with my experience of using the new App. I just find it good to use. But again that's just my opinion and I can certainly understand how some people aren't enjoying, or getting their head around the new layout and functionalities. -

For what I use it for Brodie it works just perfect. But that's just my opinion and I know it's not working out as nicely for everyone as it is for me - which is a shame. I don't really wish to engage in a debate with you about it other than to say that for what I want from a TAB APP it's good. -

Love the new platform. No issues, found it really user friendly. Spent an hour or so exploring when it first launched and haven't had any issues since. -
Got some stats for that statement Whiteman? These below would suggest you might be Brodie's adopted out half-brother due to being well off the money... https://harness.hrnz.co.nz/gws/ws/r/infohorsews/wsd07x?Arg=hrnzg-ptype&Arg=licenceholder&Arg=hrnzg-ltype&Arg=TRAINER&Arg=hrnzg-NameID&Arg=39223&Arg=hrnzg-DoSearch&Arg=FALSE&Arg=hrnzg-ContactInfo&Arg=FALSE

You're dead right there. We've got no doubt she's good enough to win a couple of races. In fact if she'd been a bit kinder she would have won one by now. Sunday was exactly as you said - a confidence boosting run to get her back on track. And we were very happy. Raced kind and found the line well. Off to Orari on Saturday. Unruly makes it hard but a nice cart into it and she might not be too far away.

who can pick the longest price winner on sunday!

Ridiculously short. Cant back Just Michael at that price. Rarangi Opal now becomes the best toughie of the day. -

Zeddie Marit not a bad chance from the behind the mobile. Think Mossdale Rose should be ahead of her rivals too.

Numbers wise, probably not a bad result for the locals. 250 odds horses lined up over the two days of racing - close to 40 of them were locals (Kaikoura north). Couple of wins - one each day and 10 top five placings. Looking at some of the horses which lined up - they've probably done pretty well, really.

Like Lilac Star each way in Race 6. Chiller Bay should win the 8th. Playa Vista at 7's is good money in the last.

Very good workout at Methven on Saturday.

Poor fields? You must be a grass track racing hater. Those fields by far exceed those offered up at Nelson last week. Even racing on a big grass track is always a good day of entertainment and punting possibilities. As for the maiden trot, that's unlucky there are seven unruly starters - shame on the trainers and drivers for trying to give the horse, the owners and the punter the best possible opportunity to get away on even terms with the rest of the field. Helga's Monarch will go close to winning if it trots the entire.

We'll take 1.21 and change and say it's 100 per cent correct. ?? From one very happy part-owner of Attimo.

I'm backing Gorilla Playboy. Went huge on the wet Orari track six weeks or so ago. May lead them a merry chase.

She's in foal to Matt Williamson.

You'll have to wait all day for it - but really like Maddison's Desire at $16 in the last of the day. No luck so far this time in and it's not a great field today. Good each way. Few others worth having a look at on an each way basis.. Ardee Trouble Red Hot Poker All About Henry

Santana Lad first up for the Matt Purvis barn is an interesting one for mine. Always looked capable and the change in scenery might just be the thing it needs.

Think The Rev will go close in that wide open trot.

Boomer Bailey : A Tough as Old Boots Legend
Counter Punch replied to Happy Sunrise's topic in Trotting Chat
Horrible and sad situation all round Happy. Luckily there was some quick thinking horse people on hand to do their bit at such a sad time. Unfortunately a brick bat to the Club for no screen being available nor a tractor to shift poor old Boomer. Members of the public had to help shift him. =( It's a tough old game this game sometimes and it was pretty emotional to watch Graeme and his wife react after Red Hot Poker's win. Not sure they knew whether to smile or not. To a lot of people these horses aren't money making machines, they are a part of the family and when situations unfold like today its heart breaking for all involved. Rest in peace Boomer. -
Wild Excuse should go pretty close - I dont mind our horse, Jafa Kitten for a place either. If she behaves.
