  1. Every single appointee on that RITA board would be supportive of the sale of the club assets , what does that tell you about the future of racing? Nothing has changed with RITA being installed in fact you've got yourself a more prolific, focused and entitled group than you've ever had before . Their focus is top end only not the common racing person, it'll destroy NZ racing and the community that its based on.
  2. Connect the dots Greg , you might have to go a fair way back but its all in the pipeline.
  3. They are going to try Freda, perhaps thats where they are getting the $$$ to keep the distributions at the same level.
  4. 20 wins in the last month are we seeing a bit of a resurrection or are the wet trackers?
  5. WE is Enable heading to the King George ?

    AB's Lineup

How interesting is this new AB lineup ahead of the Argie game? Moli,Ioane,Jacobsen,Reece and Ennor all looking like they will get some game time. I'm surprised that Fifata got a start on his form. Should be a cracking game.
  7. I don't know why anyone would take Quaddies on the Dogs or Harness there are some seriously short priced favs that come in that just ruin the payouts. The best quaddies to go for are in the Thoroughbred code with more competitive fields especially Vic racing on Saturdays, which can be very difficult to find an anchor.
  8. Yes this site should now be called ThomasTales, I had a look the other day and I think the first 12 posts by him. Racing is tough why can't we just get along?
  9. How about the mighty SW , Derby winner by Galileo,French Derby Winner out of Galileo mare, Epsom Oaks winner out of Montjeu mare by Frankel only hit out in the French Oaks for having some influence, simply outstanding blood breeding classic horses over a trip.
  10. Like you I've tried alot of systems but keep coming back to watching videos checking prices for value and then e/w all day.
  11. I agree backing 1.20 shots at the trots in pools the size of some kids money jar is just so much fun! On that note how boring were the Jewels races yesterday, just a snorefest has that idea run its course?
  12. Don't implicate the Track Managers in this farce , they are only doing their job.
  13. I doubt that, he couldn't if he tried.
  14. How could anyone embarrass themselves talking to that lot on "The Project" their garbage is far worse than his, typical of them to act the righteous tough guy when he has no retort of reply, they'll avoid talking to someone like him "live" cause he'll destroy them if they do it and they know it.
  15. Fall in race didn't help his chances.
  16. Good on him! What a joke of a show The Project is, and he is right he'd destroy them if they were silly enough to interview him.
  17. Time to get into a horse CS , there ain't much competition about...just do it!
  18. I believe a lot of them are very good golfers.
  19. On $10k races with a decent sized field i.e. over 8 runners , really? So you believe we are losing $ on every single race then? I don't disagree for some Saturday prizemoney but I'd be surprised if the above scenario didn't pay for itself. Taking into account all the Win/Place, Fixed Odds,Multis and exotic bets placed on a race i.e. trebles,doubles,First4s,Trifectas,Quaddies etc
  20. I have no idea what tangent you're on, you're just repeating what I've already stated. I think there would be a high probability a decent sized field for a $10k race would fund itself on a Friday afternoon or are you trying to tell me the $ bet on a $10k race on an industry day wouldn't cover the cost of the prizemoney , if so please explain?
  21. If they split a race Freda that races stakes are still funded, the sponsorship portion isn't obviously as that is the domain of the club. Lets not also forget that an extra race generates extra betting revenue also. I'd have thought one with a decent sized field on a Friday afternoon Industry day would also do quite well.
  22. Absolutely , if someone had told you 5 years ago about such a mythical horse as Winx you would not have believed them and probably laughed in their face, but she is real and something quite fantastic wins on Good, Soft Heavy, varying distances, runs times , gobbles them up from last ... I agree the best ever! I'm a Debbie fan I reckon she comes across great and pours a lot of real emotion into it. Go Winxie!!
  23. Hard to believe I know, but this happens frequently particularly when you are a club that isn't on the "in crowd" list. What's their logic ? who knows but they probably believe they are saving money,or it meets one of their KPI's for Field Size or horses for other meetings. I've had these discussions before , if trainers want to race somewhere and everything is in place to let them do so, why not let it happen?
  24. I guess you have to be seen to be doing something , whether it something useful or not in this industry doesn't seem to matter. The saddest part of all of this is there are many many participants in the industry who believe that closing tracks and moving race days will be good for the industry when it will only make it worse much much worse. I fear the that the only change that will occur in the industry is the same change that has happened and not worked in the past, lead by the same people with the same interests. The industry is in such a decline it needs a complete rethink/revamp and one that involves everyone in the industry not one that just benefits a select few. People are quick to be critical of NZRB but they aren't the only under performers in the industry, there are many clubs that need a shake up and are also under performing that are given a get out of get out of jail free cards , that entire club structure needs a complete revamp to make it more efficient. It's a great opportunity to reshape racing completely in NZ , but it won't happen in the manner it needs to , to give racing a sustainable long term future.
  25. I can't see what is wrong with what they are doing, all the big bookies are doing the same thing they need to compete and I'm sure their approach like the bigger online bookies is aimed at those that can afford it. How is it any different to the up selling that goes on in banking etc. Their job is generate turnover and to create returns for the industry.
