Brad williamson on gabbys star just after the post? Was he checking to see if he had left his fly undone?
-
The stipes report states that driver E Barron raced several lengths clear of the field early in the race to ensure her horse got over the crossing clear of the field. It then states she continued to maintain a fast speed for another 500m ,from which point driver e barron reported the horse felt lethargic? Its funny reading that, except of course if you had put any money on it.

Great to see the crowds lining the fence like we have seen at westport, gore and previously the likes of geraldine. When you see that it does make you wonder why the likes of waimate and wyndham can't run an annual meeting on their home tracks. If the harness industry wants to only give minimal funding for training purposes to those type of tracks then fair enough, but surely those clubs should be given an annual date if they have their own funds to support it? Going by the public support we are seeing for those type of clubs then it just seems a bit of a no brainer.

No comparison whatsoever between Italian lad and Amazing dream. If you watch the video everything purdon says about how Italian lad raced is confirmed in the video. It is a very good horse. It was just one of those runs that the horse didn't quite have the fitness or ringcraft. It should be a different story next start.

Was he working for kerr at the time?
-
Did you have any money on Unique rose today?
-
Not talking about kerr here, but don't think you can say "nearly always gets jail time" for anyone charged with that offence. Doesn't it depend on the scale of the offending, previous history, remorse, who the judge is,etc? Talking about Jail time seems a bit unrealistic to me.
-
I think talking about court appearances is jumping the gun.His offending not the type of thing to be considered deserving of jail time, if it ever did go to court.

While it appears he has betrayed the trust of some of his clients, like an unhappy marriage, it is better for everyone concerned that things have come to a crisis point where he has to deal with the consequences of his actions. He can now start the process of recovery and repaying those he has offended against, and deal with the relevant enforcement authorities. He must have been under huge pressure knowing he was deceiving clients,so it was in his own best interests for the truth to be exposed. In reality he is also a victim, albeit self made. One would expect him to be totally honest about everything as he moves onto the dealing with the consequences phase. I think he will find he will have the support of many from an industry perspective, with of course his family being the backbone of his main support.. I don't think we should be too harsh on the how we view Mr kerr.

I know. But he's comparing amazing dream to machs little soky,a 4 win horse who's record shows it races best with cover. Total opposites in racing style.

After 160 starts, jerry garcia showed again with last nights win that he is still as courageous as ever . What a marvelous job he has done for his connections, and what a fantastic job The O'reilly family have done in looking after him and training him so well. He's now 11,so who knows how much racing he has left, but no matter what his future results may be,i think he is the type of horse we all admire.

If you look at its record it has won 9 races either in front or parked over the last lap. Surely you recall its cup day run. I don't know how you could say it was not a team drive to benefit Beyond words. I really don't. Had he parked Beyond Words like every driver in nz would have, except an All stars team driver,,then amazing dream wins. Its no wonder the stipes took no action and didn't nip the operation inca races in the bud, before any police investigation. They would have had to deal with many in the industry who think some high profile participants have different standards to others. This thread is an example of that. Thats my last word on this thread.

Thats what we are disagreeing on. The plans and tactics prevented amazing dream achieve the best possible outcome. As to what finishing order you or i wanted. I had no preferred outcome as i never had a bet on that race.
-
The difference of course is that he trailed to help his other stable runners chances.
-
I don't think you need to have driven in races to have an appreciation of tactical nous. However I did some driving ,and was happy enough with my success rate, even though it was on a small scale. I believe you drive to the horses strengths. The only time you would ever take a trail on what clearly was the best horse was if it raced best with cover. And we know form amazing dreams previous races that it is a great stayer and leader. I think everyone knows purdon gave his advantage away because it was a stablemate. And that seem pre planned as the stablemate seemed fully aware it could get the lead as purdon was pulling back as soon as he saw it coming.

All the above comments are the very reasons we had an operation Inca. The continued blinkered justification of questionable drives leads to an environment in which what is acceptable and what is not becomes blurred. No doubt the very same people who say there was nothing wrong with the mark purdon drive would be very same ones to criticise the stipes had they held purdon accountable. They are also the very same ones that would have said there is nothing to see in the operation inca races, then have since criticised the stipes for not seeing at the time what the stipes later alleged. I don't know why some people don't get it. When the stipes don't take action you create a mindset and belief amongst some that what they are doing is in fact acceptable, when it clearly should not be. When will some people wake up and realise that had the stipes dealt with the operation inca races at the time, then most of those subsequently charged in operation inca would not have come under any scrutiny. At least i'm consistent. I made posts at the time in 3 of the operation inca races, calling for stipe action, when they apparently could not see what was obvious.Had the stipes taken the proper action at the time then it would all not have been that big a deal. When i look at the mark purdon drive on amazing dream i ask myself, why can't everyone see how wrong that drive was? The only conclusion i can come to is they don't want to see it. They may well think i'm a know all,but sobeit as i have strong opinions when it comes to horses being driven on their merits.
-
Did you think the amazing dream drive was dodgy?
-
Depends on the definition of race fixing. I always say the video doesn't lie. Its what happened.
-
Race fixing, same as nathan jack. "Good strategy" to put the horses in family members name. Isn't that what the mccarthy's for a while?
-
Isn't the very point of the RIU to be independent of influence. Harness, galloping, dogs and the tab are the shareholders aren't they? So how could harness clubs change much on their own, even if they wanted to,and who is saying they want to anyway?
-
Once it ended up parked after beginning so well, she had the the option of either going forward to lead or sitting parked. She chose to lead, but it was more the speed the original leader made her go to take the lead that took the edge off its sprint. It is an exciting horse to watch whatever way it races..
-
Who is a d dunn or tetrick? I judge a driver on whether the horses run for them and whether they are tactically good. I've seen Mr fitzgerald drive over recent years and think he's actually pretty good. He did make a mistake on jenabella at addington a couple of runs back, but thats a bit unusual for him.

T Williams gets 7 Day Suspension and $500 fine for too much wrist!
the galah replied to Noodlum's topic in Trotting Chat
They did breach the rules, its just the penalty seems too harsh. The JCA have to be consistent with future rulings,so i think there will be unease amongst drivers with the penalties. -
Thats a very professional approach from you and Mr Purvis. Thats no doubt why mr purvis and you will get your horses to perform to the best of their abilities, whatever that may be.
