  1. Race 3, Duke, paying $2.80 final field for the place. Seems quite generous, although I note that B Orange has elected for the drive on the fave, and jumped off Duke. Should still give a decent account imo.
  2. You know it's going to win tomorrow now aye. But yes, you are dead right.
  3. RT May will be appearing on The Box Seat tonight on Trackside TV at 8.30pm. Well worth a watch one would think.
  4. Set to appear back in court next month.
  5. I can't add to the list sorry, and I do not wish to change the topic of the thread, but, why couldn't Omoto (Greymouth) hold a trots meeting sometime, maybe during the coast circuit? I had the pleasure of attending the Omoto gallops meetings recently. First time on track for me, and I must say I was impressed with the facilities, even if they were stuck in 1983, I couldn't care less. Great view of the track, good facilities and the place was clean and tidy. It just seems a pity Greymouth doesn't play host to the trots anymore.
  6. How good was it to see/read that RT May has plans to come back to raceday driving? How good?! I'm very relieved that he has pulled through this event, and can't wait to one day cheer him home oncourse. It's been a scary, but also a good news story. All the very best Ricky, it will be great to have you back on track in your gold cap when you are ready. Cheers, Rusty
  7. It wasn't a wild pig, that much is certain.
  8. Was a brilliant day at the races, a credit to absolutely everyone involved, they did a fantastic job and should be congratulated. One of the best days of racing I have been to, I couldn't find fault with anything at all. Well done to all concerned.
  9. I think that will be a popular move. Has to be more popular than what Addington has; Trotting FFA on Cup Day and then the 3200m Dominion three days later.
  10. This is the best news that I have heard for some time. So relieved that the little man in the gold cap has made really good progress. Far too early to say if he'll be back on our tracks driving again, but it sounds like he will do what he has done almost 3,000 times before; he'll get up and he'll win this battle.
  11. And please note, I've never been an All Stars basher, I just like good (fast) horses. Their stable tend to have the best horses. Or the better performing horses I should say. The prolonged dominance of the stable is starting to get me worried after reflecting on that statistic however.
  12. It's been said before, more than once, it's nothing new, but just take a moment to consider this....
  13. That explains it. Thanks mate.
  14. I listened to the Kumara Club president talk to Des on Radio Trackside this arvo. If anybody else heard it, I'd be interested in your thoughts. My take on it was Des was a bit taken aback when the president was adamant the club (Kumara) wasn't merely transferring to Greymouth, but forgoing everything about the day, because "it was just too hard". Something just doesn't stack up here. Something just doesn't seem right. Probably never get to the bottom of it, but it's a shame the industry and the code can't work in together and just make sh!t happen. Run the nuggets at Omoto. As an outsider looking in, no one else other than a few on a committee would really care. Here's hoping for a good day on Saturday. Conducted by the Greymouth JC, because it was too hard for the other club.
  15. You know what mate, I didn't even bother to check their website because I knew they wouldn't have any information on it. More info on here. Thanks everyone for the updates etc, it is appreciated by many.
  16. FFS But thanks for the update, much appreciated.
  17. Bring him home. Water tastes better and there's plenty of green grass in NZ. He'd be much better off. Horrible place where he is. No wonder it's called Shat In.
  18. Try Ladbrokes... currently $51's ("boosted" is $61's) and $8.50 fixed.
  19. Thanks for the heads up on HB starting tonight. I would have missed it otherwise. For me, I would be keen to throw a few gold coins on HB eachway. The thing is, you don't need to put too much on when they are paying a lot. The other thing too, how gutted would you be if HB wins and you have nothing on it. Be a long time before it pays 50-1 again too. Don't ever let anyone put you off a horse you like. Back your own judgement. For what it's worth I say get on and go you good thing go! At those odds, definitely worth a throw at the stumps.
  20. Go you good thing, go!
  21. The link below is a short clip from Sky Racing's Mark McNamara with family spokesman Craig Wiggins. http://www.skyracing.com.au/radio.php?do=aHR0cDovL21lZGlhLnNreXJhY2luZy5jb20uYXUvUE9ELzY1L0dDUHJXNi5tcDM=&title=On The Pace with Mark McNamara
  22. Sorry, I should add, TV3 covered the story, with file footage and no video of today's race. They covered it accurately and with respect.
  23. I haven't watched TV1 news since they didn't extend Judy Bailey's contract, but TV3 had it on their news tonight.
  24. Credit to the aforementioned people to assist Mr May when he really needed it, especially Ellie Barron. Also to the clerk of the course and driver John Dunn (2nd position behind A G's Whitesocks) for recognizing what was ahead of him and ensuring that no other horses/drivers were put in harm's way. In the racing game it is all to easy to criticize people, but man in times of need, racing folk sure know how to spring into action when the time comes. Thoughts and best wishes to Mr May and his family.
