Industry update - Outcome of inaugural RITA Board meeting
Mark D replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
McKenzie is the epitome of the modern day CEO - never stays in the job long enough for the chickens to come home to roost although the rumours abound. Not to be trusted IMO -
nope all in store

Depends on the age of the accounts I suspect

Seeing that Thomas's thread got hijacked I think it is appropriate to acknowledge the loss of Mark to the NZ industry. Has been equally brilliant at both gallops and harness racing. Of course you can have minor quibbles with him as you can with all commentators but much less with him. I wish him all the best. Same applies to Jason Teaz and I hope that his absence from commentating is short. However the one thing and probably the only thing that the NZ industry has going for it is the quality of young commentators/presenters coming through. Matt Cross is already established himself as top rank in a very short time and I have also been very impressed lately with Justin Evans in both roles. Trouble is that they will not have a decent product to work on in the next few years - and that may have already happened.

Same for me Newmarket. The last call left a message and asked me to click on the orange box (clearly to verify my account). What follows is an email I sent to the Helpdesk last night I have been pestered by calls from the TAB all week (I did not answer as I was busy, one I did answer but the lady said she was from the TAB but I didn’t have the time to talk). Finally someone left a message and it seems it is all about your silly account verification as the guy on the phone said to click on the “orange box”. I verified my account some weeks ago by filling out a form at my local Newtown TAB. The "orange box” no longer appears so I guess the verification has been processed. So please no more calls. Any more calls ,or if you still think my account needs to be verified, please cancel my account - it was touch and go at the time whether I wanted to continue with my account anyway given how the TAB has treated old and loyal customers with disdain for the last 15 years or so.

Well he certainly has been well travelled and has worked hard over the past few years. Would be a shame if he was lost to the commentating game completely

Don't agree with your "thoroughbred administration are superior" mantra - the RIU has been a total disaster from day 1
-
Yip heard that. I agree but I heard him say that its his last day calling at Wingas - what's happening?
-
So now it seems (after madly trying again and again) that some bets have gone through (after a delay) given my reduced account balance. Of course I can't check whether the bet has gone through or not, as they suggest, because my transaction history is not showing. No doubt I have doubled up on a number of bets. Starting up the webpage again and again I have noticed they do have a notice on a page I usually go straight past saying they are having some technical issues - in their typical understated/let's not draw attention to anything bad fashion.
-
In the bad old days at least they would acknowledge the problem eg put a message on the site etc and say they are working on it etc etc now nothing. Glenda's PR strategy I suspect - never admit to your mistakes

8.00am Saturday morning and I can't get a bet on via internet. Making progress NOT
-
Rules are different. What the 2nd horse was doing was irrelevant. Straight DQ and the right call according to the US racing experts I have heard. But your right in NZ/Aus you can do anything and unless the placegetters can prove that they would have won but for the interference you get away with it.

We need a starting Czar. Cameron George (not afraid to make the stupid decisions) should be available soon.
-
26 heats. Clearly needs to be shut down. Not sure of the latest - are they (RITA, NZTR etc etc) planning to?
-
Got home thought I might like a bet - took over 45 seconds for the page to load - I didn't try to load any other pages till that was up. Unbelievable
-
Must have been Invergiggle then
-
Could be wrong but I think this has happened before at Riverton for some strange reason - a couple of months ago I think - certainly after the launch of the dog. Must be low on their priorities to fix. Maybe it's something simple like not having a long enough extension cord to reach way down south

Next Steps for the Racing Industry - Winston Peters
Mark D replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Important thing to note, and the Treasury comments highlight this point, is that thus far this so called reform has existed inside the "racing" bubble and progress has been slow. But once it gets opened up and other Departments such as Inland Revenue etc etc and general "social' groups get involved, where the health of racing is not the sole focus, then things get far more complicated and troublesome. The general perception I believe is, and this is shared by many in the racing industry too it's just that they have been ignored, is that it is a bunch of fat cats feathering their own nest - with of course the perfunctory nod to how many (poorly paid) jobs exist in the racing industry. Its been easy so far. -

Nothing new here. Deliberately released I suspect while Winnie was crowing about the derailment of the CGT. All about Reform and Revenue so Deano told us. Should be prefaced by "Negligible" IMO. -
Ways the new TAB betting platform could be worse.

Yip I believe a lot of the fleas on this dog are a result of partnering with "mates" -

Didn't understand a word CS and I'm sure the NZTAB is the same -
$14m asset from a $50m spend - not good
-
You ignore facts when they don't fit your narrative. One thing that Goodson and co got right was that there was nothing to be gained by closing tracks. Dean keep on crapping on about "reform and revenue". One has to question the need for reform if there is no costs saved or new revenue generated (except for government handouts). Its just ideological bullshit and Jacko is a master at that.

They're all dinasaurs - adherents to the foolhardy trickle down theory. Peters as a full blown anglophile therefore supports the establishment - as long as he is part of it.
