  1. My guess is that Ashley is referring to a more "corporate" type trainer, which fits the bill with Nigel, as opposed to the "farmer" type trainers of Myers and Leifting. All three are solid trainers, but I believe Tiley would have the image and training style to make it in Australia. That being said, Darren Weir has a great record of running horses without much planning and thought, but it seems to work for him.
  2. I remember Tanya Jonker doing the same last season. Don't think she's as bad now, but who is educating these kids?
  3. Can't access site. Beautiful.
  4. Didn't he let rip on you at RC? Don't worry though, if you ever see him again, he'll act like your best pal.
  5. I have one. Good specials on offer, good odds. Solid withdrawing times. Effectively the same as CrownBet
  6. True, but it's up to Opie whether or not he chooses to impregnate them.
  7. I wish them well, but with his history, she must have a high level of tolerance and/or trust.
  8. As I've said before. He is nice as chips in person but a demon behind the keyboard. Shows you the spine of the man.
  9. He does look tired and doesn't realise the Riccarton straight is a long one? Can he butcher Te Akau Shark? Surely not...
  10. Surely Opie wouldn't get someone pregnant?
  11. As per the last two years, no horse currently racing in Australia, or any horse that will race in Australia (prior to the Cup) in 2019 will win the Cup. Punters constantly get too involved with the form throughout the year. Even Sydney Cup form, which is a shocking guide. Just wait for those coming over for a one-and-done - they're the best chances.
  12. Luckily I was at Ellerslie and had the option of placing a bet in person when the site went down. Felt weird handling cash though
  13. The journalist says this was an "industry event" but that can't be right? Just because many of the racing folk were at this bar, doesn't make it an industry event.
  14. If your "mobile version" or laptop version of the TAB website doesn't work, use your mobile and click on "full site". This worked for me yesterday
  15. "Last year, Regal Monarch broke his right leg and had to be euthanised" So they're counting horses not even running in the Cup as examples now?
  16. "For mine"
  17. Not her usual style, but it was Derby Day black and white. Expecting something more her usual on the other three days.
  18. Does anyone know if long-time race goers Barry & Betty Spooner are still alive and kicking? Used to own a number of horses for Dad and we were wondering if anyone knows if they still frequent Ellerslie, or any track for that matter.
  19. That's my question. How do they learn if they never sit in the saddle?
  20. I could answer that, but given what she has also gone through, I don't think putting blame on her is a great idea.
  21. I present you with this situation, albeit drastically different circumstances. My Dad (who held a trainers license at the time) purchased a former TB horse for me to ride. It bolted on me and threw me into a fence - luckily I wasn't injured, but what if I was? Would my Dad my at fault for putting someone relatively inexperienced on a horse capable of high speed? After all, the difference between eventing horses and TB's is astronomical. Even if I was an experience show jumper, would I have the skills or strength (at the age of 15) to pull up a careering horse? Where are budding young jockeys supposed to gain their experience on TB's?
  22. Obviously this is a personal issue of mine but one question: how can any trainer be sure their staff has had sufficient practice riding race horses? Is there an industry standard?
  23. Would love to see her run against a top class miler, but that will never happen. That's at no fault of her own and I can't blame connections for wanting to run for big money on their home tracks. However, in years to come, I can guarantee you Chris Waller goes to sleep thinking that he had a horse good enough to travel and she never left the country. Imagine seeing Winx line up against Enable, Cracksman, or any of the top-rated horses in the world. It would be a sight rarely seen, but the money is simply too strong in Australia and it's not like the owners are short of a penny.
  24. Cheers Nice Option! Will be chiming in every now and then
  25. Haha that has been pointed out. I had Youngstar on the brain.
