Finally a reason NOT to emigrate to Australia!
nomates replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
You say parents don't have enough information to make an informed decision , but that happens through out life in all sort of situations . Maybe you should just worry about your own family and let others do the same , we can't be everybody's keeper . And a lot of the time people have all the information and still choose to do something we wouldn't , even when we had the same information . Freedom of choice . -

It's a big debate , this is one topic . But in my experience in life i have found a large portion of parents didn't/don't have enough information/education around contraception to make an informed decision around having sex which led to kids which led to the them not having had enough information/education to make an informed decision/s on how children are entitled/should be raised in a first world country , but many aren't . My wife works with school children every day , hands on , some of the stuff she see's and hears is just heart breaking , that children in NZ in this day and age are living like some are just beggers belief . Getting vaccinated for these kids is the least of their problems . -
NZ racing/studs have woken up to it finally , starting to respect their good staff and reward them properly , only problem is that the horse has bolted and going to take a long time to rein it in . NZTR have been so slow off the mark on this but also the trainers assn is the same , like i said waking up now .

Well size should never stop anyone getting into the industry , racing , breeding or admin . Never stopped me and i'm just short of 6'4" and was usually around 100kg . The single biggest issue i found was the shite employers , especially in racing , laws unto themselves , but as i said it has come back to bite the industry .

This is your concern as far as your own children , but if others feel they want their children vaccinated then so be it , their children are their responsibility . No ones right to tell them otherwise . -

This is the issue for me , nobody respects the others choice , i see people who choose to go with the Govt and medical advice getting called weak minded sheep , then those who choose to say no to vacc's and masks etc get called as in this case the lunatic fringe . People need to respect an individuals right to make a decision that is right for them , nothing wrong with disagreeing with what someone has decided but as is usual some people overstep the mark . If your vaccinated then what diff does it make to you if someone isn't , you are supposedly safe . And i'm not looking for a debate on whether someone will be safe , they have made a decision , respect it . And whether you agree or disagree with getting vaccinated or not there are going to big implications for those that don't get vaccinated because throughout the world there are going to be restrictions placed on those that aren't vaccinated . I don't actually see the point to going that far , if i choose to get vaccinated then i would consider myself relatively safe so i shouldn't end up in a life threatening situation . Again not looking for a debate just my opinion . But i can see restrictions being put in , why , because that's what people do . -
This is the part that has come back to bite the industry on the arse , not only cheap labour but treating employees like shite , means we struggle to get young people into the industry after they have heard the stories from older family and friends .

There is something being put in place in Auckland by D Nahkle and the guy whose an ex jockey who came from S Africe or Zimbabwe , can't remember his name . It was something that was posted on the NZTR site about 3/4 weeks ago , and here is the rub , it is being done by someone else off their own back because they see a gap in the system , this should be and industry initiative but those whose responsibility it is don't even see the irony that they are posting a story about someone else doing the shit that they are supposed to producing . This is what it has come to , a head body that has no idea about it's responsibilities or simply has no ideas or how to go about them . I would say " and we wonder why the industry is in the shape it is in " , but unfortunately we are all to aware of why we are in this state .

Was one of the historians that were part of " The Track " documentary about the history of the Australian Turf . An absolute must see if you get a chance , a 6 part series , seen it on Trackside years ago , back when they actually showed product worth watching . There was a few old time Aussie journalists and they all had fascinating insights into the history . A must , must see .

I know what you mean but i've got to the stage where i have to hope that the jock can just do some of the right things or that the horse is good enough to over come the handicap of who's on top . Otherwise i would have 1 bet a week .
-
You wonder why he calls you a tosser , you ask for it some times .
-
I almost got the feeling that the jockey didn't know just what she had under her till too late . The winner is smart horse tho .
-
I will add that for all the debate with M Pitman around the A/W he can find a bloody good horse and usually does well with them when he gets them .

Kavish C just rode a great race on Miss Tycoon Rose , these guys can do it but for some reason they seem to just switch off too much . Is Miss Tycoon Rose the best horse in the SI , should have won the 1000gns for mine .
-
Makes it tough after putting months of work into a horse though , then they come back with some bullshit story that they expect you to swallow , i used to just grab my horse and say leave the colours by the door , never gave them a chance . They soon worked it out .
-
For consistency she is probably the best in the SI , never scared to back her mounts .
-
Have to be honest i don't believe the level goes up that much more , unless it's Allpress riding for Rae . The overall standard through out NZ has dropped significantly .
-
Just watched Maximus Prime win , the ride was a gem , but here is the conundrum , i have always been a fan of Tina C , but recently she has been judging pace poorly IMO , but then comes out with a ride like that , but it seems and it's not confined just to the SI there is no consistency from one ride to the next , and that makes it hard to bet regularly .
-
I'm not , the standard is bloody disgrace , half of them don't know pace and the other half have got no balance . Most races are bloody ugly . Betting down there is lotto .

But apparently that is where they think the future of racing lies . -
Are there signs of cracks in the Cambridge AWT training ranks?
nomates replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Ok , i appreciate your honesty , but can you not see that the industry is in major strife , and not just stakes , and that it requires participants to stand up and hold to account those that are managing the industry . They don't listen to people like me , they WILL listen to such as yourself and others that hold a position in the industry that demands that they start listening to those at the coalface . Because the small players need the big names to stand up for them when they have no voice . Maybe i just expect people to care too much . -

Perhaps if you had spoken out about the state of NZ racing and the way it is being administered half as much as you come onto here and the other site to defend your position on having a great "training and trial track " , you and others in your position within NZ racing , then perhaps none of us would be having this discussion , but too many of the big names are too busy looking after their own patch . You have a voice along with those others of high profile but none of you speak out about the grave position we are in , but you come on here and give people grief , people who are just as passionate and want to see something done before it is too late , but no you just defend the precious new toy that you get to play with . Sorry but if i was in your position i wouldn't be wasting my time here , i would be holding to account those who are slowly strangling our once great industry . -

Ha , been called a lot worse , throwing words like that around is a sign that a nerve is exposed . His above comment has just proven again that self interest is alive and as strong as ever in NZ racing -

It is such a blase self interested comment , but that is an attitude that is rife within NZ racing ranks , if it wasn't we would hear a lot more vocalization regarding the way things are sliding . -

That is a seriously disconcerting comment from one of NZ's leading trainers , possibly shows why the industry is in the perilous state it is in .
