  1. But every trainer at those tracks are stoked , got great training tracks , they wont give a shit if they race on them , in fact the less racing the better , they will last longer for training .
  2. And there is the flaw and the stupidity of the whole thing , a 15mil track for mdns and 1/2 race winners .
  3. They were listening to the ones selling the project .
  4. Scratched . Put the money saved onto the Lindsey's horse in the 6th , Zouzarella , 8's and drifting , impressive at first start .
  5. That's my point , if they try to use the Riccarton regularly then in the winter there wont be many grass track meetings programmed elsewhere .
  6. This is going to be one of the issues Joe , Canterbury and the CD don't have the number of meetings that the northern region does which does allow horses the avenue of regular grass racing , in those other regions if there is an A/W meeting those horses who don't want to race on it are going to be forced to hang around waiting , especially in Canterbury . Then how many owners that are in that position just say " feck it this is just isn't worth the bother anymore ", and either get out all together or get into horses up north or worse still Aus .
  7. That's him in his younger years i presume , nothings changed i see .
  8. I would think the board along with the executive at NZTR would decide distributions , Sherwin is on the board , would have thought he would have fought for better distribution , he has close ties with the Pike stable .
  9. And banging out to the tune of " Accentuate The Positive " .
  10. Ah , i spoke toooo soon , back to normal transmission .
  11. F@#k !! Those tapes really are working .
  12. Makes the price juicier , man up .
  13. Big step up for him and not sure 1 is the ideal gate for him , $4.8 is a bit short for me to , but hope he still wins . I see a couple of races earlier Khama Lass is running for Te Akau , smart horse with a sharp turn of foot , 21's at the moment , think she might go out a bit more yet , might be worth a couple of bucks .
  14. Well only 80 for Taupo so a bit light there as well , probably get a few more now tho . As for too much racing after covid , they did just chuck a heap of meetings in a row , maybe they should have just sat down and looked at new programmes for some of the lesser meetings , more races , less racedays .
  15. Have you been gelded yet , yet another procedure that could , and i use the word loosely , could bring about improvement in your disposition . And will make you safe to others on " new years eve " .
  16. I see the meeting down for next Wednesday has been canned , as only 45 nom's , 19 of which were in at Taupo on Tues . Interesting . But staying positive .
  17. I didn't know you wore them , take them off , i'm sure you will show improvement .
  18. TA are moving the slow ones on a bit quicker these days thru Gavelhouse . The only problem with the big , massive stables , is that you pay your money and watch your horse race , no input per say , but as long as you go into it with your eyes open there should be no issue . As i said for monthly cost it is a cost effective way of having a small share in 1 or 4 horses without breaking the bank .
  19. Every big stable has these horses , it's how they handle the good ones that makes the diff , just a numbers game . We would all get a number of good horses if we got 100 new horses each year . And that is why if you want the chance of a good horse for small outlay they are the go to team , especially with Richards training them . I think Covid has held up those plans , they were definitely looking at taking boxes in Melbourne before covid hit . Once there is a bit more clarity around travel they will do it , it is a natural progression . They quote around 4k a month for a horse in work , $100 per month on 2.5% , for a bit of fun not bad , 500k for winning one of the millions gets you $12,500 , not a bad return , and if you get a slow one your not bleeding your pocket . Might have to look into it .
  20. Well so much for all that debate , after getting an 11 horse field for the 3yo mdn , 7 scr leaving 4 , 6 northern horses scr'd , most had been accepted for that many races this week that some owners had to take out mortgages to cover nom and acceptance fees . Not a good look , fortunately i think we can put this down to the Covid squeeze , not usual to have quite so many options available in such a small window .
  21. You are being unfair to me with those comments , you know my position , we are simply having a debate . I repeat i gave you my figures tell me where i am wrong or what i have missed .
  22. Well i gave you a breakdown and i was being quite generous with the figures and there was 10k+ to spare for you to tell me what i may have missed . I,m not knocking TA , but i have a pretty good handle on expenses other than staff and as i said there are other charges which more than cover costs on those charges so there is money being made there . I know plenty of trainers doing quite well thankyou very much , just like some like to get you to believe it is rocket science they are just as happy to have people believe that they are struggling financially . And that is not a knock , they are making a living , i never tell people how well i,m doing , i'm always just battling away .
  23. Look we could batter this all day , we don't have all the staffing numbers or actual horse numbers in work in NZ , but there is no way they are doing anything this size with the pressures and hours for their 10% of 6mil , 600k to divvy up between them , nah . If they do have 70 staff you can bee assured a large portion will be part timers , track riders , mornings or afternoons only . Nobody is paying 3 full timers to only 3 horses . Christ i could do 7/8 on my own comfortably .
  24. That is their spelling charge , if you can't make a turn at that price your gold plating the grass . And i would think yes they are being put in paddocks , colts will have individual paddocks might be an acre each . They wont be boxing everything all the time , some might at times .
