  1. Really , who in their right mind is going to NZTR for help if they are feeling mentally fragile or being bullied , no one goes to NZTR for anything , industry participants on the whole know they are useless . Your likely to end up in worse condition . On top of anything else this sort of thing should have been done 30/40/ years ago , far too late now , most employers that are left and serious have worked this out for themselves and make sure they're staff are looked after . So yet again we stand looking at the stable door sitting wide open .
  2. Ego's , the demise of all who believe they are great .
  3. There will be plenty of other downgrades to come over the next few seasons . This race in particular lost it's gloss when moved from NY day . The ARC thought they were more important than everybody else and didn't like the fact that the Auckland Cup was always considered the ideal lead up for the real 2 miler at Trentham and wanted to show that they were buddy big balls . All they managed to do was Feck up 2 great races . They have continued down this path with the Karaka Millions , shitting all over the Wgtn Carnival , and achieved nothing but stuffing up they're own NY's carnival along with the Wgtn cup meeting . But they will keep the stake the same , fricken joke , when the industry is bleeding , we are going to keep throwing 500k at a glorified Jumpers flat . Same with the Easter , which amazingly isn't even run at Easter . The Derby was the one good move , helped the 3yo's and fitted in better with Aus . But as our quality is dropping so will this race's grading . Has been the one genuine G1 we have had up until the last 3/4 years . I can see the point where we don't have any G1's left and our best races will be G3's at best , and rightly so , they should be measured by world standards , and by world standards we are well short of the quality required .
  4. Too little , too late . Most of the good participants have left the industry , hence the current predicament of staff shortages . They really are soooo far of the pace of change it's embarrassing .
  5. Well this is what people are having to do with the way the industry is being run . This is what they consider is a success for the industry . They are blind to what the real problems in the industry are . Whilst the ship sinks the officers party .
  6. Hey , but it's alright , they have started a wellbeing campaign .
  7. Within the current regime it is all too late , for major change there needs to be a complete cleanout at head office . If you went into head office and asked the question , " how many of you listened to Senz racing at the weekend " , how many do you think would answer in the affirmative , they wouldn't even know if it was AM or FM . That question would be asked after the question , " how many of you watched the RACING at the weekend " , again if any it would be in the single digits , possibly on one hand . They have no investment in the industry , so why should they care .
  8. Senz will last , just not as a proactive racing industry product , the racing is a side show , it is being done to appease , they know they have royally FU over Trackside radio . Where they said that Trackside radio wasn't financially sustainable they are now truly throwing away good industry funds on this turkey to show that they understand that the industry needs this type of coverage after all , but it's all too late , more birds have flown . Look at turnovers , they are horrendous , the lack of radio coverage is a part of this loss of revenue , but they know better . If Trackside was such a bird why are spending money on this , 1k a week on punting alone , they are clueless . Things are tending down and they are at a complete loss on how to arrest it .
  9. Unfortunately they like to hear themselves and how they're picks went and what they're picking in the next , and what they had for breakfast , and what they're having for dinner . It's lightweight and achieving nothing for the punter or enhancing turnover , both of which should be the primary objective .
  10. They are always slow to change , don't want to believe that it's that bad so will hope it will improve . But the money wont change which is the biggest waste .
  11. Imo the Derby has been the last true G1 in NZ , usually the winner has gone to Sydney and competed very well , but over the last few seasons the quality has declined year on year , the reasons are varied but for mine it purely down to the majority of the quality young horses having been sold out of NZ by the time the race is run . That is horses sold thru sales and then trials and early career race performance , so that what is left now is in most cases the ones left behind . There will be exceptions but i would say what we have now is what we are stuck with , give it another 5 years and it will be downgraded .
  12. Tough for J Mac from the draw but at least he made a decision and the mare wasn't flattened , and will fight another day , McAvoy done nothing , jumped and sat , the horse worked overtime and was trying his guts out , could have flattened him , they will have to be careful what they do with him next week or two . It was a pitiful effort but all too regular even in Aus now .
  13. If you look thru the fields at Matamata or Awapuni you would be surprised to see how many of those horses are just as likely to turn up at a lower midweek meeting , there is no great differentiation between the mid weeks and a lot of the weekends . I don't mind the money being put up , owners need it , but we need a better system of spreading the wealth than we currently do . Will we get one , no , because they don't think there is a problem .
  14. Big win at Sandown , looks a big chance in the Toorak , certainly looks like he has a G1 in him across the ditch .
  15. And then we can go to Sydney to watch K McAvoy ride Sword of State like a 4kg claimer , absolute shocker .
  16. I would lay money BS doesn't bet , there in lies one of the issues we have in the industry , the people running us are not invested .
  17. And they expect people to bet and increase turnovers . Having a bet in NZ is pretty much a lottery due to poor riding standards alongside a complete lack of understanding of race tactics and pace . Geez don't get me started .
  18. Pretty sure Bonecrusher started out at Ellerslie . When Ellerslie was a training center there were plenty of TOP horses trained there . Are we talking trained or bred , Phar Lap was bred in the SI .
  19. Keep up , the debate .
  20. I don't know why anyone is surprised , tell me a country where politicians have any F@#king idea . It's not great here but you just have to look around the world at the big countries to see how F@#ked up the world is , they make NZ look like nirvana , I mean who would give these idiots that are the leaders of the free world an ice cream cart to run . I can't be bothered getting stressed about this crap anymore , no one listens , we only have top look at our own industry to see that the people at the top don't really have a clue , it's the same in the real world . When someone like John Allen continues to bounce from one top earning public position to another with no consequence or responsibility then what hope is there for the small man ,and there are thousands like him that are positions that dictate every day life . I have too few years left to worry about it , the ones i feel for are the younger generation , but even they have their share of dickhead problems that they are creating . Don't worry , be happy .
  21. Haha , i thought you had the shits over the comment from the no response , but obviously you were just considering your response . Spent 5/6 weeks there many years ago after splitting with my first partner , moved into a sleepout at my sisters , looked for work but nothing worked out so headed back north . Found it too flat and spread out and as it was July it was bloody freezing , so no not my cup of tea . Went back for a sale in August about 13 years ago , just reinforced my thoughts , happy for others to like it .
  22. As for Mr Shailer , Paul is a nice guy but struggles with pressure , people that worked for him said he could lose the plot real quick . I always found him easy to talk to and helpful , he can train so i hope for his sake that he can make it work . Was engaged to Phil Cataldo's daughter , don't know if they are still together tho .
  23. Nice mare Joe , should have won a race by now , some average rides has cost it , i know the owners quite well but didn't realize they were looking at sending her over . Once she gets up over ground she will do alright .
  24. I blame it on the chief and Freda for not getting on board . With their connection we were a chance .
