Fortunately they have the depth to still get reasonable fields , 2/3 of our better ones go AWOL and you get yesterdays Livamol field yesterday . -
Another case that shows the whip rules are stupid!

He is one of the reasons i am proud to call myself a Scotsman . First time i seen him live was in Hamilton , 3 and 1/4 hours he was on stage , my face muscles and ribs were so sore from laughing , up there with whiskey as being synonymous with Scotland . -
One of my fond memories is from 2 years ago and going to watch a Glasgow Rangers v Celtic ( old firm game ) at Ibrox , the game was average but the hour before the game was fantastic , the singing was deafening , the atmosphere , the one song that is always sung is Penny Arcade by Roy Orbison , the place was rocking , just great fun .

Enough drinks you probably thought you were at the Greek singing it . " Hot August Nights " one of the great live albums of all time . Grew up listening to it because my old man loved ND , have always had the CD in my collection .

Race 4 Hastings 16 October 2021 - Shambles of a Race!

No that is my point , why did he , but she could quite easily held the lead as well , which he didn't want , both kept easing when one should have realized that one had to keep the pace safe . I backed Elliot's horse and i was like why not keep going , but it comes back to the same thing that we keep raising , decision making in races , most of the time poor , the rest of the time non existent . -

There used to be a time when apprentices had to have 60/70 + trial rides before even getting a ride far less 5/6 a day after having 6 trials , the problem for mine is they are rushed thru before they are ready , christ i've watched some that can't ride trackwork decent that then go to the races for half a dozen rides , seriously scary . -

I agree , but the issue now is there is a rule , ride within those parameters or cope the punishment , it aint gonna change so everybody needs to move on . And i agree about whether Collette wins without it , but unfortunately we have to live with it now . I'm much more concerned with riders hitting horses that are obviously beaten , a much worse look , i'm no softy but it gets me bloody angry , especially when the ride contributes to a horse getting beaten and then the jock hits it , i know who needs the stick around their arse . -

They were both questioned about it , i'm putting it on both because they both could have ensured that the pace remained even and safe , the stipes obviously thought enough of it to question both . My overall point is it happens far too often and riders never get more than a whisper in the ear . When someone is seriously injured or killed then they might wake up . -

When was the last time you heard a NZ trainer pumping up our racing , only the administrators talk it up . -

I said he was part of it . She was one of the jockeys that eased the pace too much , IMO . -
There's been tears a plenty in this household when we have lost one , fortunately only a couple , but it makes for a tough few days .

What part , they took the pace right out , horses behind got right up on heels , one got so tight in behind that rider took it 3 wide , it was very messy and the cause was the ones in front , they both admitted they steadied , it was how much they steadied . Neither warned about it , just noted . This is where the problem is , the stipes aren't tough enough , but they can fine someone for not having their colors or late rider . We will have to agree to differ , again . -
I see Surprise Baby has had a change of trainer , does anybody have any info on what has become of this horse ?
-
And they have Harris up North , and IMO none of the apprentices are any better for it . We've had this discussion plenty Freda , but we see no improvement , if anything in some areas things are worse . Worse case scenario someone is going to die before they wake up . It's really like no one is talking to these kids and asking if they understand what they are doing right or wrong in race .
-
I have got to the stage where i just have to hope the jock can do a half decent job and the horse can overcome any dumb shit the jock does for the other half of the ride . I simply don't have big bets anymore other than OPB on a Te Akau horse , just don't have the confidence that the others won't fuck it up , and that lack of confidence has been proven correct on most occasions .
-
Haha , i was saying no , no , this horse can't be going to win this race , that wouldn't be right .
-
Just read the stipes report and the did question her but she said the got squeezed at the start and would appreciate some moisture , that to me says she had a pre determined mindset on riding this horse , she showed no vigor to get this horse to improve before the turn . As i said not really held to account .
-
The problem is doomed they don't seem to learn from their mistakes , i see countless jocks making the same dumbass mistakes time and again , they very rarely held to account .

Will Incentivise do a Vow and Declare? Lay him at your peril.

That was just a WOW !!! Love to see the best horses win the best races . -
The problem is they think they already have .
-
Totally agree , i backed that horse Saigon Hot Night , disgraceful , sat 5l last 15+ from the lead and never moved till in the straight and flew home to be 5l from the winner . I was going to write something but thought WTF .
-
Disgraceful field , Harlech couldn't win any class of city racing in Melbourne , won a Benalla cup , runs 2nd in one of our prestige G1's , FO , jesus how bad is it getting . good luck to the winners connections tho , i'd take it .
