To finish on with Shockalia , it's a very smart horse , won it's maiden like a good one , 3 wide in the open today so big effort , one to follow thru the summer . If not sold , but raced by Rich Hill so maybe issues with conformation ?

Held it , frivolous enquiry in my opinion , there has to be contact to be interference . Otherwise it's just horses running around .

I gave up on inquiries here when Extortion got relegated in a race at Te Aroha in April , no contact and lost the race , a joke of a decision .

Not many have the courage to try something in a race , most races are a bit homogenized now .

I have backed the winner , there is a protest 2 v1 , winner never contacted the 2nd horse but i bet it loses it , should never lose a race with no contact . if a horse wants to move away that's it's problem , 2nd rider should have kept straight then you have weight to the argument .

That's why i gave away training them , bad enough trying to get a decent track rider , but then you get to the races and have to put up someone that just doesn't care .

Mate it happens every race , you watch the first 200/300 of a race here and most jockeys are just watching waiting for something to open up to give them a slot , no plan out of the gates , i used to tell them if they were on one of mine , make a decision out of the gates on how the horse jumps but do not doing nothing and get caught wide , i could live with losing if they have given the horse a chance . Unfortunately , and i have said this many times , our ranks are so thin that most don't have the fire in them , just riding for a living .

She was part of the problem in the 3yo race , got the lead then dragged the pace right out , everything jammed and horses were going everywhere , Elliot on the horse outside her was at fault to because he did the same . They can ease the pace but to back it off like that is dangerous , wonder if the stipes said anything , they're clueless so doubt it .

She has a future , but honestly we have so many senior riders that are looking after themselves in races , some just look plain scared to do anything .

R4 at Hastings just about sums the standard of our riding , absolute shambles of a race .

His horse in the first has shortened from 13 to 9s , good distance and wet track stats and went good first up oin a stronger race .

Great racing today , even here the 2 meetings are great fields , the leveler here is the standard of riding .

I like his ride in R1 , but tough day for everyone .

If you go back into his form , when he started winning , in his first 3 wins he came from beyond midfield to win , so he isn't as one dimensional as he has appeared since racing in the city in Queensland and now down in Melbourne . They may actual try to take a sit , in may depend on whether he has got into a more forward and free running mentality that his more recent runs have been . May come down to what he wants to do .

His biggest issue is the gate and the work he has to do to get a position , someday is going to make sure he keeps working . Plus never been round Caulfield although good horses overcome those things . I quite like Persan at odds , likes Caulfield , the distance and a wet track no issue so might put a couple of dollars on him for an interest , but will be happy to see the big horse win .

Like Young Werther but the rain worries me , will wait for the day . Indecisive looks a bit special , and i do like to see good horses win good races .

I have seen Waller interviewed after both NS and VE have won where he has given huge credit to JMc for the work he has done with both the horses in training . I'm outa here now , this bone is getting a bit skinny now .

As i said he has bad days , he's human . And the stipes had a chat to him , which i what i expected , it wasn't bad interference , movement happens in most races . But you can have the bone .

He rode 3 winners out of 7 rides today , strike rate of 1 in 2.33 rides , half his current strike rate , does that mean he was on fire today . The 17 and 13 rides without a winner each equate to about 2 days of racing as he usually has a full book , i wouldn't think 2 quiet days equates to a barren patch . A couple of days without a winner can be down to a whole raft of reasons , track conditions , bad draws , any number of things . We all have bad days , if your having 1 bad day we don't tell you your a grumpy bastard we just say your having an off day , for what ever reason , a week of it well then maybe you are just a grumpy bastard . Or maybe you are just , a grumpy bastard .

What It's Me up to Joe , haven't seen her this spring , a real talent , could have been anything if she was sound .

Yeah fore cast is awful heading into a big day , but i don't think she will run if wet , i just thought i would get the odds while available .

She also ran 2nd behind Puccini in the NZ Derby , and i thought she was a certainty beat in that race .
