Well he's going to Aus , the bad news is he is staying there , going to D O'Brien , so things at the top end keep getting thinner . I wonder when the men at the top are going to wake up to the fact that unless they come up with some plan to keep horses in NZ then we will have R65s as our top tier of racing .

I assume they have been in consultation with ARC . The Oakbank jumping carnival relied on visiting horses so i don't know what local numbers had to do with it . Another jumping institution gone , when put alongside how Victoria has a very short sharp jumping season , it's a tough time in Australasia if you have a horse that you think can make a jumper .

Exactly , you could go to them and offer them the lost arc of the covenant and tell them it will solve all your problems and they would say no because it's not in they're plans . Any forward thinking team wouldn't have cut the radio coverage off at the knees the way they did , a smart operator would have made small adjustments over a period of time to see how the market was adjusting and see how it was affecting they're business , but no , it's costing x so let's lose it . The best part is all i've heard is supposition about how much it cost to run , nothing on paper or figures to show the cost to benefit to the industry , just we are telling you it's a dog so it's gone . But they can no throw money at Senz for a bog average product , without even knowing if it is financially worth , but then that is they're business model most of the time .

If they are going to service the punter then get back to providing a proper coverage of racing . The simple solution i would have thought was have 2 radio frequencies broadcasting Trackside 1 and 2 on simulcast , it's not hard , it wouldn't be that expensive and it services the punter/customer on a fulltime basis . Don't need separate hosts or any such thing , just a straight feed from the TV shows that are simple to access any time any place .

Haha , to make a point , average there is 108 , the horse at the top of the open stayers a t Riccarton on Saturday is rated 88 , 20 points diff , 10lgths , now who thinks that the NZ horse is only a 10L inferior horse . I'm not bashing the horse , he's an aged gld who has won 5 races and 85k , good luck to the owners but geez it makes it hard for this type of horse , where does he go if he wins on Saturday . It's ridiculous , now if it went to Aus it may be re rated , maybe not , not sure how it goes , but it shows how futile it is here . And yes it is a great field and going to be interesting to see how Incentivise goes against the big mare , we will really see where he rates . Things really starting to heat up over there , great next few weeks ahead .

She went on to win on the next shorty then won the last on a horse that was at 11s the last time i looked , so she must have read my post and thought F@#k you no mates .

The quick end result is that now owners and trainers have woken up and if a horse shows any semblance of ability it will be sold at a price that in years gone by most would have turned down . They know that 50k+ in a quick turn around is now the way to go . Our rating system has to change to work with the product we now have , not what used to be .

Seriously i think they are both starting stretch the imagination that either is a serious G1 , throwing up the odd genuine group performer isn't enough . The form out of those races has to be franked in Australia on a regular basis , and that form is starting to become a bit thin . You can't have a race holding it's G1 rating on the back of the odd good horse coming thru it . This is why they don't want to change our rating system , because it ghosts world ratings therefor our races are rated above where they should . The fact that our 100+ rated horses are no better than 80s or lower in Aus isn't something anybody wants to admit to . We can see a horse with some ability here win 2 mid weekers then a couple of open races because they are so poor and suddenly they are hitting 90+ . Win another then they are having to compete at WFA because they are getting weighted out . It's a joke .

Well after the Tarzino field was robbed of Avantage the field became very average and now the Windsor Plate is no better , what is the field for the 3rd day G1 going to be like , especially if Callsign Mav heads to Australia for the Cox , big mistake in my book , always been a fan of the horse but he is never a Cox horse , should stay and take the easy money . Anyway the question has to be asked , how long till the HB spring carnival gets the downgrade , none of the G1's are above G3's at best , with no improvement likely in years to come .

I note that no one put D Johnson on their list , won the premiership easily last season but has been slow to get going this season , only 7 winners at over 1 in 11 rides , so pretty poor . Has 2 rides today at Rotorua and both beaten at $1.50 , next ride @ $1.70 in the 6th , who's brave enough . I've always been scared to back her on shorts , has a mean ability to get them beaten .

They got enough accepting to run 2 races with only 6 missing out by the looks , also split one of the 65 races so big day coming up on Saturday , some very good betting fields there , also at Te Rapa on Friday and Hastings and Te Aroha over the weekend , deep pockets required for the 3 days , along with Sydney and Melbourne having great cards listed .

In on Saturday , running in the Turnbull Stks , G1 2000mtrs , Verry Eleegent also accepted but she is also in at Sydney but over a mile , rain forecast for both meetings so not sure where they will run with her , if Cox Plate is her goal might stick to the mile in Sydney . Going to be interesting if she goes to Melbourne tho .

The funniest thing about it is , they don't get how ridiculous the comment is , they're feel for the industry is non existent .

The way they have allowed themselves to pushed around to their detriment is just plain embarrassing , their current position is deserved because of their lack of fortitude . They don't care because no one stands up to them and as the industry shrinks they know they are positioned to be the power broker of the industry and basically call the shots to suit themselves . They will be last big man standing and will simply rule over any clubs that can survive in what ever shape that may be . But many of the big players left seem happy with the scenario playing out so they will have no one to blame but themselves when they're opportunities are limited .

I've just been looking at the nom's for the " Great Northern " meeting at Te Aroha , and i i realised there was no buzz thinking "Great Northern " time , great , and i just thought how sad it is that they have made such a fecking meal of what used to be a fantastic weekend of racing . We are left with this poor imitation , the ARC has a lot to answer for in stuffing up a large portion of our calendar , but by christ they have right royally made a complete shambles of their own calendar , NZ's mega club , YEAH RIGHT . And Aucklanders wonder why the rest of the country take the piss .

Well they need something to do , they do fuck all at their NZTR jobs , got to fill their time in some how .

That seems to be their modus operandi , getting people on board who have very few clues , i suspect that the small operator is a mate of a mate of someone who doesn't know what they are doing at NZTR .
