Agree , as you know Freda , if you have spent as many years on the ground in racing as we have there are not too many secrets that you don't get to hear of . The stuff i know about people in racing , name people , from over the last 40 years i could write a trilogy . If you want something known tell someone in racing , it will get around .

I can tell you that at least 3 of them would have turned over a grand each on a Saturday , they were hard working , hard drinking and loved a bet , how many like these guys have been lost to the TAB , that adds up , big time . But things are great so stay positive .

Guaranteed they have but it's all a bit too late now , like the loss of radio coverage and form guides and hiking minimum bet amounts , they all take they're toll and add up . I hate to think how many regulars have walked away , i know of 5/6 myself . Was looking at betting on races today at Taupo and tote betting on most races thru all pools was adding up to barely 40k a race , so i hope they were putting a shit load thru the bookies . Tote betting has been very poor for a number of months now , even Saturday pools aren't close to what they used to be .

Well that's what i thought to but if that's the case why only put up a couple of races , who knows , i wouldn't believe anything they say .

To be honest Joe i've always got on alright with H , i've only heard the stories from very reliable sources and the odd judicial report . I'm more scared of my wife .

Just looked at the prices for Saturday at Randwick and Caulfield , went to the NZ races only prices for 2/3 races at each meeting as per normal , rest wont go up till tomorrow avo , why do you think they don't do them all , staff shortage ? , can't be stuffed ? , don't give a shit about the NZ punter ? , i go for the last one , or more likely they are shit scared of not having done their form and getting caught . It's all just plain lazy with disregard for they're customers , but apparently things are on the up . Trying to be positive .

I see they are offering a $10 bonus bet for any deposit over $10 . Suddenly not charging for deposits is their focus , go figure , maybe if they had talked to some punters many moons ago they would have got this crap sorted years ago .

Well media coverage is all but non existent in NZ so why would sportsbet worry about , NZ punters are expected to call on their clairvoyant skills to get the form .

I see the TAB have finally woken up and have stopped charging people for depositing money into their accounts by credit card . What's changed ? They have clung onto this dinosaur piece of business in the face of a huge number of complaints over the years . Have deposit rates dropped ? Something positive i suppose , but it's something else that just seems all a little bit late .

Tauherenikau now running next Thursday , basically a straight swap with Awapuni , so what has changed regarding resources , no real covid level change . All sounds a bit odd .

Their biggest problem and i have said this ad nauseam , they think all the regular punters have gambling problems and that we are all just sitting waiting for the next race to waste our money on , and will bet on anything . A smart business would look and realise that these shite races aren't producing , so lets re organize to maximize . But they have been doing the same thing for so long now they can't see the woods from the trees . It's like NZTR , they know we are leaking horses overseas and as a consequence our racing is being diluted but have no idea how to slow the loss of horse sales down or retain horses here . OR , OR , simply don't care .

The only out i will give them is that they may be dictated by the feed coming from Aus , that doesn't absolve them for Saturdays display , leaving straight after major G1's without giving the after race , to go to some anything race is reprehensible for a racing channel , especially when we have the other channel for the banal racing .

Paid $123 on the tote here . Good on the connections , gives everyone hope . I recorded it and watched it this morning , i found it interesting that they have betting on a number of venues but choose not to show some races when there is clearly enough time . I watched the big Aus meetings on Saturday and a number of times they left straight after the running of a big G1 to show a non descript race somewhere , yet watching this mornings races they missed a race to give a 10min lead in to the Arc , and ok i can go with it , but then we don't even get 5 mins after the race , cut to some crap replay thingy before the jockey has even returned to scale , all very peculiar , don't know who is in charge of production but obviously it was just another race to them , what's the Prix de L'arq de Triomphe ?

So how come they can service Awapuni ? The netball team got out before level 3 restrictions were put in .

Ok , so now up on NZTR , meeting moved to Awapuni due to a shortage of TAB resources due to Covid . Have no problem with this but what part of this did they not know about that they had to leave till nomination day to inform participants of the issue , not even a nod to the possibility of this happening . And why am i not surprised .

I have just seen that Thursday's meeting at Tauherenikau has been removed from the NZTR calander , anybody have any idea why ? Nothing else stated on the page , so in the dark . Possibly a computer glitch .

Have to say jumping here and Aus has become a bit MEH , with just Victoria going over there and our jumping shrinking like the rest of our racing i can see it being obsolete in the next 5-10 years .
