  1. I know they do , but what is well paid , for every 10 horses how many staff to maintain them , i.e. ground staff , riders . You have 27k to cover the feeding and wages of those 10 horses . 3k to feed the 10 for the month and that is generous , about $50 a day , leaves you with 24k to pay the staff for a month . How much are they getting paid , ??? , They have barn managers who will be on good wickets , $2k a week the managers , minions on $30 an hour , $1200 a week . I think the barns are 20 horses , so 48k for 1 barn for wages , 8k for manager , 5 other staff to maintain those 20 horses , All on $1200 a week so $4800 per month x 5 =24k , +8k for manager = 32k , still 16k spare , i'm sure there are other staffing costs but as i said even if they clear 1 in 10 horses that's $5400 for TA with still $10400 spare . Happy for you to tell me my costs are wrong or i have missed something . All i'm saying with the size they work with they are making margins , not big margins but at their numbers they don't have to be , it all adds up .
  2. Well TA is all encompassing , there wouldn't be many horses they train that don't go to the farm .
  3. There's no way they are only breaking even , that training charge only has to cover feed and staff wages , everything else is charged out , stables , vet , farrier , xport , you name it owner pays for it . So if they have 100 in work and even if only 1 in 10 horses is all profit that's 10 x $2700 per month , $27k , x 12 months = 320k . All that before you add the farm profits . They are doing fine thankyou .
  4. Have kept an eye on them again today and yes pretty skinny again , i wonder if part of the problem is a lot of people don't have phone accts and if they do don't have credit cards to top up . I have noticed a large portion of money going on late but still lower pools than the norm .
  5. I would think they are doing quite well across the board , they pretty much clip the ticket on everything , every purchase has a 10k fee for due diligence , $45+GST a day spelling . I know from talking a friend who raced horses with them that they don't miss much , so i think they are doing alright . But if you want to have a chance of winning a millions they are the go to stable , buy the nicest horses , have the best jocks and a young tyro trainer that is up with the best .
  6. Come on Freda , positivity , positivity please , 12k mdns . Your not helping the cause sounding so glum this fine spring day .
  7. AH ! no , i believe Te Akau have just gone to $90 per day + GST , not a lot cheaper than some of the big Aus stables .
  8. They are looking a bit on the skinny side .
  9. Exactly , even if no more nom and they all pay up then you could have a 9 and a 10 horse open mdn , after the lockdown they should be rewarding the owners , plus it gets horses fitter to go forward sooner into the spring , it's not like they haven't saved plenty in stakes over the last 2 weeks . Plus they can put up 20k for 5/6 horse jump races on a regular basis this winter , so step up .
  10. Have to be honest Joe , i haven't seen the kick back at the Cambridge A/W that i see at the Victorian tracks , geez some of those poor horses over there cop a gobful of sand coming back at them . As for the Awapuni A/W it certainly will struggle , simply because we don't have the numbers , same at Riccarton . But Trainers don't care as they are getting a state of the art training track at all 3 venues , that's all that matters , and i'm sure the powers that be aren't worried either as it wasn't their money and it helps with the long game of centralization . Especially in the CD and CHCH .
  11. I see a lot of the horses nom'd for both mdns at Hawera are nom'd for the Te Rapa mdn , i does make it tough that's why they should have left nom's open at Hawera . Will be interesting to see which horses will pay up for all 3 , they will probably be asked to make a first choice , well hopefully . Plus with a lot of those 3yo's from up north they get so many more opportunities to gain a trial win which gives them an advantage in gaining a start .
  12. Far too sensible , you need to offer your services .
  13. Somehow managed to miss the 3yo mdn so my bad , unfortunately i can be quick on the draw when it comes to thinking they have dudded the owners , they have a history . I still believe they could have left nom's open for the mdn 1200 and said they would split if they got more nom's . The problem now is some 3yo's will pay up for both and the ones with points will get 2 chances with the barriers because at worst only 1 will be on the ballot in the 3yo . Then if draw poor in the 3yo run in the open mdn meaning some older mdns will miss . Some will say i want it all and maybe that is true but the ALL isn't that much at best .
  14. So NZTR are at it again , owners in the CD are getting short changed again . Hawera on Friday , mdn 1200 has 28 nom's but no suggestion of splitting , 14 horse max so can make 2 fields . They are splitting the R65 1600 with 27 nom's , the R65's have an option of going 1340 or R74 1600 at Wanganui next day , but the mdn 1200 horses have to wait for Woodville next week , now it is 3 weeks since these horses last had an opportunity to run with covid shutting us down , but rather than reward owners by splitting the race they are snubbing their noses at them and saying just wait and spend more money whilst doing so . They are an arrogant bunch of Twats , simply no respect for owners , 10k that's all it would take to put this extra race on . This would be saying THANKYOU for sticking in there thru these tough times , but no , more go fuck yourselfs . Seriously why do people bother any more .
  15. Our fields for Saturday come out usually about 10.30am on Wednesday morning , if your lucky they will have markets for the open races and a couple of others , maybe 3/4 races , by 3pm that avo , the rest wont be till late Thursday sometimes Friday . Yet i can get odds for all Sydney and Melbourne Saturday races a couple of hours after fields are out , on the NZ TAB , go figure .
  16. Yeah on my hotline to racing HQ .
  17. They never come out until 4pm the day before , don't ask me why , amateur hour . This time of year they are shitting themselves because of all the 3yo's coming out for the first time , anything with Pike or Marsh or other gambling stables always gets put up short or shorter than trial form would suggest . The best part is that they had Ashburton odds out for the weekend before the meeting was moved and the fields are the same so why not just leave them up ?
  18. No apparently they topped up . Wish they would do that for me on my bad days .
  19. TAB topped the pool back to starting figure so everybody got their money back .
  20. I think you'll find most of us are over it , a crap part time coverage doesn't cut it .
  21. Yeah pretty soft in the end , i didn't actually put the multi on , just putting them on as singles as they have bonus bets on all races , but Ayrton has been backed off the board so will take my money and run . Chicken hearted , but 1.6 is getting too short .
  22. Got him in a multi with Probabeel and Ayrton , gave him no hope at the 400 , massive , Everest here he comes .
  23. Yeah , yet he likes cut in the track , it's a funny track and the rail is out , just seems to take horses an age to get straightened and balanced up , look how long it took Paulele to wind up . But as SLB2.0 says , slipper winners ???? it seems to take so much out of them . Be interesting to see next time back at Randwick .
  24. I feel your pain , i've had another look and i just can't find anything but her , only weighted 4kgs above the rest , i'm weighing her down i know .
