  1. Two months post election the sausage roll muncher still doesn't know what he could have done to win the election...haha, meanwhile, back on planet Earth....10,9,8,7,6,5......gone. Bye bye Chippie. Go share a sausage roll with Toni with a i. Once he slides out of his echo chamber and learns reality, he'll know where he went very badly wrong.
  2. notice how she farcically thanked Scotties Boutique for the "kindness and empathy"....another attempt by her to tell New Zealanders what she wants from you. "If the victims forgive me then so should you".....but what about her other victims? The experts will also confirm that it's stock-standard that by the time a shoplifter is finally caught, they have likely been doing it for some time. The body language she displays looks like that of an experienced shoplifter to my eye.
  3. One to interview. One to witness and three to control the scene.
  4. Mental health my arse. She joins Jamie-Lee Ross and another virtue signaling appointment Kiri Allen. Maori, female and lesbian. No wonder Labour appointed her Minister of Justice. The only good thing about her appointment was the clothing allowance would not be used. Allan only had one outfit. I don't believe a word the Green MP has said about her offending and have a completely different take on it. I was certain the mental health card would be pulled....again. The only surprise to me was white hating MP Marama Davidson managing to bring race into it when she described her Iranian born colleague as a "brown faced female" so will be targeted. Davidson repulses me like many of the Green MP's. Golriz Ghahraman "GG" has used threats against her to minimize her offending....along with undiagnosed trauma. What a far king joke! Mental health is now routinely used to turn an offender into the victim, shut down discussion and control the narrative. That is clearly the aim. GG has often taken a combative and antagonistic approach to contentious issues. She will wear loud statements on her clothing despite knowing that will rub big numbers up the wrong way. She has displayed contempt for many New Zealanders and arrogantly and belligerently continued doing so despite receiving threats. That is not consistent at all with someone who gives a flying toss about threats that go with the territory. No wonder she is close mates with Davidson. GG claims she cares about NZ people. Bullshit! She cares about herself and is extremely entitled. The stores she stole from are owned and run by NZ people and at a time many businesses have been struggling. GG couldn't possibly care less. "I want that expensive thing, I'm an important person so I'm going to take it". She has a grossly inflated view of herself and clearly thought she was untouchable. She gets paid three times what the average New Zealander gets paid. She has a very very long list of perks including a clothing allowance. Everything about this stinks. Despite the image GG cultivates, she is light years away from being holier than thou. She's with a party that achieves nothing. They are there on the green ticket so have a vested interest in encouraging climate fears for their own gain. Total chocolate teapots. What the actual fark has transgender got to do with climate? Davidson is a leading transgender cheerleader. Imagine you have been exposed as a thief and face life changing events of your own making. Would you arrogantly go on holiday pre arranged or otherwise? Absolutely not! She controlled exactly when she would discuss this carnage. When it suited her. Contemptable and arrogant. When she did so it was via a media statement so questions can't be asked. Once again, she controlled the narrative. She then predictably attempted to minimize her offending via mental health....then claimed she wasn't attempting to minimize her offending. Absolute bullshit. Mental health is a huge issue in NZ. Our system is underfunded and broken. At least some politicians use it for their own get out of jail free card instead of working harder to fix the broken system. GG's position as an MP was absolutely untenable. Her resignation was not about personal integrity. It was all about avoiding humiliating questions and being made accountable. She's then tried to again portray herself as working for other people. What a joke. How's she going to do that now she's been exposed? Can she be trusted with money collected to help others? Then she again controls the narrative by asking for "Privacy" so she can "Get Well"...in other words, don't ask me any questions but instead feel sorry for me. I have a lot of sympathy for genuine mental health sufferers. They suffer in silence and don't use their illness to justify / minimize arrogant entitled thieving. She will be gifted a free pass in the courts. I have no real issue with that as she's already paid a high price but GG herself has made statements about wealthy people being gifted favours in the court that other less well off people are not afforded. Will she display personal integrity and not allow her lawyer to seek a free pass and discharge without conviction? Hell no!
  5. didn't she confess...and then water it down via the get out of jail free mental health card......then say she wasn't trying to minimize her outrageous offending?
  6. The forecast for the Sunday at Nelson was bad Mardy but as we got closer it changed and we had no rain at all. Fingers crossed you have the same. If it does run hopefully just enough to water the track. Enjoy Sunday and hope you nail multiple winners. Something special about our local meeting.
  7. I remember the days or nights at Victoria Park. Shame they couldn't keep the venue going but I may be just being nostalgic. Perhaps there was an omen in Mitch Kerr winning the last race there in 2009 with Pay Me Painter. Coast horses like others are rock hard fit after the Coast / Nelson circuit so it's not rare for them to put their hand up at Blenheim. The Geddes name has been winning races for many years and know where the finish line is. More often than not you get value with their stable runners. On his day Sods Law is very hard to get past. He looks well placed on Friday as a ten race winner going up against numerous one race winners. He'll need to get past eight race winner Ali Lindenny who looked close to winning form at The Mot recently. Looking forward to the meeting. Grass track harness always a big fav.
  8. R1.......Plenty to like about the second race day run of The Chase @ The Mot. He's not foolproof but bypassed Nelson for his preferred grass surface. If he trots all the way, he wins. the rest are a bit of a lucky dip. R2........Deadset quinella here. Twista has plenty of heart to go with his ability so just needs a run through at the start from his draw to be right in this. Had to be impressed with Alta Showgirl on the grass @ The Mot. Did work and kept giving. Bypassed the grit @ Nelson for the grass here. Look no further than these two. R3.......Chall Vee Power will appreciate the draw and is a chance of an early double for the Barron / Orange combo. R4.......Open race here with scope for an upset. Judine kept giving two starts back @ The Mot and has bypassed Nelson for this. Genuine winning chance. Olde Oak Emma with the Orange man in the bike could be the value. R5......Ali Lindenny closing in on another win. Last start run had a lot of merit. Goes very well here and has the right man in the bike. Sods Law could put his hand up for a fresh win and has won here previously. R6......On Report looking more like it now and Glengarry Midnight was nice two starts back on the grass. Both are likely contenders. R7......He's A Jackalack ticks the boxes here. Is overdue saluting the judge. Soviet Star was nice at Nelson and is drawn well here to trail and outfinish them late. R8......Cormoran Strike looks poised to give Coaster and Robbie Close a double. He didn't have much luck at Nelson. R9.......Good open field. I liked the run of Dare Devil @ The Mot. Bit of luck in the running and he can salute the judge. To Ri Ruby is a good mare suited to the grass. Won nice at Methven in early December. Simon Adlam goes well at Waterlea and Rick May in outstanding driving form at Ashvegas yesterday. Not sure what's going on with Franco Messi. Disappointing finish last time and driver Sarah O'Reilly told the stipes the horse is better suited to a longer distance than the 2000 metres. This race is over 1850 metres. R10......Cup Prelude. Mossdale Ben was good enough to run against Swayzee and Akuta in the NZ Cup. That form easily enough to win this. Superb recent trial win highlights is ready to rumble. My bed of the day and will double up and win the Marlborough Cup on Sunday. Take that to the bank. Dashing Major sure to be in it on both days. Race 11......Divine Angel wom very nicely @ The Mot in early December and then ran a beauty for second there a week ago. Should go close to winning this. Social Distancing was very solid at Nelson and is drawn well to continue that rich vein of form. Has won on the grass previously. Robbie Close a strong contender to have a very good day. Good luck if you're having a crack. Hope you have a big day if you're going Mardy.
  9. Not sure what's irking Blue Rock Dancer there Shad. Him blowing to bits free of interference yesterday was my low point of the day. I was virtually counting my winnings when he began cleanly and was trailing. There is something clearly wrong there. Unsure if he's feeling discomfort or it's a head thing. Those two can often be connected. Lord Module testament to that. The Hope's know their stuff so no doubt he'll get sorted. Looking forward to Blenheim. Have a busy few weeks coming up ...but will work things around putting priority on harness racing of course
  10. I've watched the mare go around for three seasons. Always regarded her as speedy but usually needing favours to win. Her run at Rangiora in late November behind Krystal Delight was fairly typical of her. Bowled along nicely in front, looked likely and then fell in a hole. When I saw her lining up at Nelson I went to view her trial. I've been watching trials for decades and feel I can read them fairly well. That was not the case with Woodlea Jewel. I thought her trial was just ok but not an indication the horse had grown another leg and found several lengths. She dominated on both days at Nelson. The money trail said that would unfold but to my eye the $1.90 on Friday was too short. I saw her as a 7-2 or 4-1 chance. A definite contender but not an even money fav. Gambling is all about making calls but for whatever reason, we get some or even many of those calls wrong. Happy to own that. We know changing stable environment can work a treat. A typical example would be horses changing to beach work. The way Woodlea Jewel won on both days she has more success to come. Higher grade = faster times. Had she been capable of that in December we would have seen it as she would have been winning by good margins. I'm assuming Tom had her weight and fitness level at a certain range. Cran must have completed a reset. He's a very good trainer. She'll make a broodmare of value when her time comes. Even more so if she can snare the right race.
  11. Nailed him in my trebles and quaddie bets Shad but my main bet in that race was Blue Rock Dancer who began nicely today so I was smiling....then blew to bits under his own steam. Some big performances today. The best of those to my eye was clearly Ooga Chaka. Off to Mardy territory now at Waterlea. Another Friday - Sunday meeting. Can never get enough of grass track harness. Hope you and the BOAY crew found a few winners today.
  12. Matt Cross down from his callers box on the first day to tell Bob what a good job he'd done with Ruakaka
  13. Kaysans Rock a "he" obviously, not a "she' so apologies for misgendering him
  14. Weather looks good for today so far but a bit of rain forecast later in the day. Hope it comes to nothing. My picks for today. R1......Really liked the trial win of Queen of Swords so she goes on top. R2......Heartbreak Hotel shit himself soon after the start in his race day debut on Friday. I have a long standing theory about trotters that go out fav on debut and fail. It's uncanny how many win at their second attempt. It's about 8 out of 10 times a winner. .....he's on top again for me today. Had to like the first day second of Top of The Hill. ...he's the danger R3......Take A Selfie lost the plot on Friday. She has the ability so would pay to stay with the ship. Kaysans Rock was doing handstands turning in on Friday. I thought times and margins please. Inexplicably, she was run over late by the horse in the race I felt had the least chance of winning. Still gobsmacked by the result. I can't leave her out despite reservations. R4......Major Happy was the plunge horse of the day on Friday but lost the plot. She has to be on top here. R5.....Twista is a strong horse in form. Can work and win here. Liked the way Gatecrasher found the line on Friday. Must go close and nothing wrong with the two runs of Misty Blue. Looks a deadset trifecta. R6.....Tricky race. The winner should come from Woodend. Ready Set Jet won nicely on Friday for Bob and Grand Eagle ran an excellent second behind Ruakaka on Friday and that's superb form for this race. R7.....Ooga Chaka was stiff on the first day after getting bent sideways at the wrong time. Trained by ex Nelson boy Tim Trathen who loves winning at Nelson. Bob Butt driving so could be a big day for him. Classie Linc also didn't have any luck on Friday and is closing in on another win. R8....Excellent race. Sunnys Sister should win but Ruakaka is in here from the pole. Part owned by Matt Cross so it could be another "Go you good thing"...Blair driving Idle Stuartia for his old mate Mike Austin who the race is named in honour of. Solid on the first day so a big place chance here. R9.....Go again Alta Meteor. Celtic Spirit joins in the meeting and with any luck will be in the finish. R10.... Another tricky and open race. Blue Rock Dancer has a strong connection to Nelson and was well backed to win on Friday but lost the plot. Go again. R11.....Jonny Cox won the last on Friday with Rock Band. Good chance of repeating the dose with What A Minx here. Slashing run for second at the Mot from well back and this race no harder. She's drawn nicely.
  15. I think you're thinking of the Rising Sun Tavern Chief...it's about six minutes from me heading away from the CBD heading toward the Hospital on Waimea Road. I think it's been turned into a hotel for accommodation. I would call in there for a beer in the 70s and early 80s around the same time you were probably heading out to the Star and Garter in Richmond for a cold one or the old Railway Hotel just down from the racecourse. ...now a McDonalds as there obviously not enough of those around 🤣
  16. 100%....floods or slips. Take your pick. We want to build on a hillside at Atawhai but can't get insurance and have spoken to several others with the same issue. Sometimes the price you pay for a stunning view is more than just $$. It was a long day yesterday. We loved the day but my wife is a once a year racegoer and we've already doubled that this year after going to NZ Cup Day. Forecast is for showers / rain tomorrow afternoon. That should cool things down but would prefer they don't arrive until after the last race. Lots of highlights yesterday and one winner that shocked me. That being Mary Lou for Murray Pash. Nothing in any of her races suggested that run was on the cards. On top of that I can't remember the last time I saw Blair look both ways and still get beat. There was a stunned silence in our area when she won. I heard one guy nearby say "what the fck just happened?". If I was going to give any betting advice for tomorrow, it would be to back every horse that ran fourth on the first day to place tomorrow. All the 4th placings I saw looked very worthwhile place bets. Good luck to all the BOAY clan having a punt tomorrow.
  17. Hard not to notice that. I hope we see a big improvement tomorrow.
  18. Thanks Marty. Our place in Auckland had a glimpse of a sea view if you stood on a chair in the back bedroom and were able to see over a squillion other properties. Our place in Nelson cost us the same price as our Auckland property.
  19. Thanks Shad. We do enjoy our view. It was only 16 months ago a lot of the hillside around us was involved in the slips and our place was too close for comfort to slide down the hillside. Won enough to pay for the day and have an even ledger. Was a happy but long hot day. Spotted a couple of winners for the second day on Sunday but I'd say a few others will have spotted them also.
  20. 6 points....yah 🤣
  21. Busy wiping the egg off my face Brodie. My wife backed both of them so WTF would I know 🤣
