Remember Happy I was trying to get stats for Phil at Addington for punting purposes, for the last 3 years you take out Majestic Man he's only got a handful of wins from at my approximation 120 starters which is ridiculously low..... an awful lot of placings though but when I punt them you've got to remember most of his mid grade trotters win a lot down south but come to Addington and consistently finish 2nd to 5th . Compare that to when Brad when he comes to Addington, hes got a great strike rate.

As much as I love my trotters how good was the fast class pace race today, Robyn's Playboy bracking 3.20 for the 2700 stand was a superb effort. Good old Southland, my dad still lives in Invercargill and I was born in Kew Hospital in 1973 but left for Christchurch in 1981, for what ever diluted reason I still consider myself a southlander. Depending on this international border situation hope to be visiting in March which will hopefully include a day at Ascot Park.

You're on a roll and long may it continue( tomorrow night included) not sure if your syndicate is involved with old man Father Christmas but hes still making $$$ in Melbourne. Winton in 2 weeks time might suit here but you don't want to be off 50m again.
-
Holy crap that was spine tingling stuff, well done to the syndicate..... was worried when that horse broke in front of her on the turn but a combination of the leaders stopping and her sprint. Gait looked really fluent, fingers crossed she stays sound.

Strange thing was last Sunday's maiden fields were weak compared to this race, if he'd run in the 2000m stand running a place was possibility. Surely if they continue to run why not give a new junior driver whom struggles to get a drive a go- that Korbyn Newman looks to have a good future as does Olivia Thornley.
-
What's more amazing is there's 2 emergencies and hes not 1 of them ... A few handy maidens in that field too, he did run 2nd at the workouts Saturday running home in 28.5, I guess Andrew will drive him.

Sugar n Spice Certainty beaten by the 200m stand!!

Just watched my first race of the day, R8 Purdon runner #2 $1.80 favourite, leading around the turn, Time in a bottle came up and passed but Purdon just sat quietly watching, literally just looking at Time in a bottle..... his horse may have been going flat out but to not even wave the stick or reins just sat there like he was eating an ice cream. -
Awesome news, I wish you guys the best and she gets around in one piece. Without pre empting anything I'd assume first run back she will sit at the back and scream home like that win early on at Invercargill she had.

Just spent 30 minutes trying to find anything to bet on tonight, too darn hard and supposed to be better racing Friday but I prefer sundays field from a betting point of view. 1 bet... Didjabringthebeers. Not sure why J Cox doesn't get more drives or K Butt too, Coaster Howe using Close a bit and now Chmiel and as a punter not a fan of those two generally.... Cox 1 drive on from 8 eligible races and it's on a maiden trotter. If Globederby is floating around any update on Dark Horse ? I want to see a race at the Oamaru meeting next month with Dark Horse Chinese Whisper Majestic Man Cracker Hill Ultimate Stride Add a couple of Hope and Dunn horses and run it over 2600 mobile would be a sensational race to bet on and watch.

Gotta love harness racing, a horse having his 284th start and one of his competitors this arvo having their 2nd start.... a better draw and you might be tempted but going to get too far back and Jess might look after him today.
-
Great team effort lads, had a decent whack at CB to win and a cheeky place on Ali L which paid $10 place in NSW
-
Haha fixed odds just opened here in Sydney No point in betting on tote as some of these races struggle to get 1 thousand in the win pool. Christmas Babe $4.40 .... Steel Dust $1.75!!! FSS $5.20 Skippys Delight $1.75 Fanny Hill $4 place price, might be the go on her home track.
-
R5 massive field so expect a lot of breakers, I'm assuming Christmas Babe travelled up with stablemate who raced Friday, can trot this girl, hope to get $5 +. R6 not sure why Charlotte Purvis is off Four SS, in fact doesn't even get a drive in a juniors event on her home track, potentially a fast run race and half the field can't win, worried Four SS will get the shuffle back but will back him each way. R9 6 weeks since his last run and always well supported but might get better odds today on Skippys Delight.

Touche touche I watched it live on my phone so obviously no head on replay so looked at Twitter and the post re the protest from RIU had 3 clear errors in it .... protest looked to take 20 plus minutes then dismissed.
-
Surely that leader/winner in race 1 ended up in the sprint lane, what are the rules requiring to keep in a straight line ? Four Starrzzz Shiraz wins that if allowed to run left of the leader.
-
Watching the replay he goes out of camera vision about 70m short of the winning post so not sure of the total distance he galloped but without knowing the actual rule you'd think any sustained loss of gait at any stage in any race of 100m or more would equate to a relegation/disqualification.

I'm and old prick and some of you are probably older than me but have reasons and memories to why you follow this sport, when I got into harness racing I preferred the trotters and see old buggars like Dick Caskey have his battlers like Tornese, Tortuff and Torshant run around for me was more intriguing than seeing a short priced Rober Cameron trained horse winning by 10 lengths....I remember going to Ascot Park seeing Dick's horses, they weren't well bred, looked a tad scruffy, a shabby looking sulky but generally would have good manners and battle away midfield and every now and then bob up for a place or the odd high priced wins. I want to see the battler lob at $20 a place at Addington, it may not place again for another 10 starts but it gives a thrill to the owner and a belief it can happen again
-
A lot of uncompetitive horses running around that simply don't have a winning chance most races either due to lack of skill or bad manners but without these horses what do we want? 6 horse races like the crap Auckland generally dish up. Can Avross Spitfire win a race, of course it can if circumstances permit and obviously a fit horse, any horse that can finish 2.5 lengths from the winner can win a suitable race.
-
Was really keen on Essence of Easton today in a very weak field and over thinking Matty going all that way for 1 drive ..... and a terrible drive it was sadly. He and Cox I just can't catch, very good drivers unless my cash is on them.
-
Hoffman seems to have plenty of horses as does Anderson, I'm happy Forbury are back and no doubt full fields will happen but turnover is the name of the game and Thursday nights historically don't bring in the betting cash. I'd love to see every Saturday 2 gallops midday starts and south island 1 trot meeting starting at 14:00 to blend in with the Aussie races.
-
Cheers man, thought maybe some stats that NZ Mett might have but your right unplaced runs aren't there... quick look last 4 years only 7 winners at Addington. NSW tab odds wont be out until mid morning tomorrow but going by your comment will be short, darn hard to bet here as fixed odds are your only real option as some of these races hardly hit $1000 in each pool. On a positive note Ultimate Stride today was sensational today, high speed, perfect manners and a flawless gait.
-
Nice happy , interested in Majestic Action R8, sold by previous owner trainer, has manners and speed in a pretty weak trot field. Can anyone help me as to where I'd be able to find Addington trainers stats for say last year or last 2 years ? Last month been backing Williamson runners at Addington but as a mate pointed out unless it's a group race etc Williamson has a poor win % at Addington, yes he has a lot of great trotters but most of his Invercargill/ Forbury type of trotters don't measure up at headquarters.... but I get sucked in with the high tote prices.
-
I know race programming and TV times might be difficult to set up with fitting in Australian race meetings etc, but with the gallops back this Saturday joining the Invercargill trots why on earth are the starting times for most races for the 2 meetings 5 or 10 minutes apart? I'm in Australia and hope Invercargill still gets a run on the tote here and on Sky 2, but I don't hold my breath, often pre covid the Saturday trot meeting would only have half the race card here as too many meetings kicked in after midday, numerous times I missed winners of horses I followed as the races weren't bet on here. What will happen on trackside there? NZ races only on 1 channel and Aussies on the other ?
-
Backed the wrong Williamson horse Saturday at Invercargill, I took the punt on Humble Ladd first up, ran a nice trial in good time at Oamaru and is generally reliable from the stand ... ran a great race was 6/6 in the betting I got $23-1 here in Aussie only beaten by half a length. Winner of the race was the enigma Majestic Connie's, was poor first up after the enforced break won and paid $34/11 here .... stewards question Bev Williamson re the improvement she stated " the gelding had trialed well in the lead up to today ". Well it hadn't trialed at all, may have trained on but hadnt trialed publicly.....stewards should know this and I know can't do anything about it but they look like idiots for accepting a reason that's blatantly false.

Very hard without fixed prices here in Sydney as yet .... Thursday is very much a stab in the dark. R3 Garry's Legacy R7 Sunny Bill R9 Stick Man Friday: R2 Jaffa Josh R4 Justan's Sister R9 Cast No Shadow R11 Sundons Flyer and She's Allthe Craze place bets
