Just piss off one more waste of space money leeching fat cat office pen pusher, replace him/her with a form analyst @ $75k per annum and you'll make that wage back quick smart.
-
Thank you for your sarcastic response. At noms time all 5 races at Invercargill were advertised as $10k, and NZ Mett from $7500 to $9500.
-
Hard to be critical in these times but how on earth do a wealthy NZ Mett run races for $7,500 but good old Invercargill $10,000?
-
Can anyone please confirm that the Woodend trainers were able to train on the beach during the lockdown ? Dunn, Todd etc....keen to know how fit they'll be and from a betting perspective do we avoid the small trainer that didn't have a private track to work the horses on for 6 weeks.

The Big Winners: Addington, Alex Park, Cambridge
Dougie replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
So what would a person like Scott Dickson do, seemed to have plenty of horses now stuck in the middle of nowhere in the NI and say Darren Simpson/ Grant Anderson etc in the SI. The hobby trainer between Gore and say Ashburton I think will just fall away in the next couple of years. I know we need to move with the times but life time horseman and racing employees like Davet Mac will be lost to the sport due to the poor management by life long office boys whom just jump from job to job and industry to industry with no heart or interest in their role..... its just a $$$$$ job for them and they've stuffed it for hundreds of great people NZ wide. -
Surely from a breeding point of view Wyndham is a must KEEP, great mile times to be had and as others mentioned a great betting place- I'm sure someone smarter would confirm but you'd think turnover for Wyndham would piss all over Ascot Park turnover. I look at a place like Oamaru, how many train on the track? Colin Mckay/ Chris McLeod etc but I assume Phil Williamson trains on his own property as do his boys, will we see low number areas like this when the tracks close the hobby trainers fall away or will they make plans with the Williamson's or simular bigger trainers and just use there tracks as a training centre so to speak if feasible.

Here in Sydney Harness racing in NSW suspended temporarily, just heard on sky racing channel here.

First shock is 4 trot races and Phil only has runners In 1 of those including Monty off 45 metres. R4 Rozzano R7 Sheeza Sport R8 Take After Me R10 Riteur R11 Tracksarefortrains R12 The Diva

Well done to the syndicate a 3 year drought broken and I see the old fella is going around again over 2000m but of 45 meters.... Father Xmas also won last week in a $14k race in Victoria. Majestic Man back in NZ after a strange drive/run in Victoria. Hope also Dark Horse git through that first up race ok.
-
What the hell has he done to "Noble Mistress" .... Even when Maria had the horse always stepped super fast and did the same when Matt took over including that 10 length win at Addington. 4 starts now for MH and can hardly hold its gait for the whole race.

16 horses in for them this week at the 2 Menangle meetings, Lauren drives most unless they're multiple horses in a race and would make more money than most freelance drivers........at a guess they'd have 40 plus horses here in Sydney and are well respected and loved by the punters as their horses are fit and rarely run poor races. As Brodie said if they cant make a decent living who does, maybe as they're stable is so big, wages, stabling, insurance overheads etc are too high but at $500 a week traning fees their income would be $10k to $20k a week plus her driving fees and winning %%%.. I have noticed prize money at Menangle isnt constantly as high as a few years back. Good luck to them, I'm sure it was a very hard decision to make.

Don't get me started on these Stewards again after last week in Cromwell. Most of us complain why they don't question drivers/trainers when a hot fav gets beaten and no questions asked or a roughie at 60-1 wins and no questions asked re form reversal. R8 yesterday they questioned Ricky Gutsell after Vintagd Rose won on her form reversal, FFS she was 2/2 in the betting and had run a 2nd/5th and a 10th in a mile race where the winner ran 1.53 in her last 3 starts. Seriously I give up.
-
Agree, somehow backed into $2 fav in a small field why on earth did he want to be on the speed, could have sat last i would have thought and either gone around them from the turn or through the middle. Be interesting to see if Monty turns up at the trotting FFA next Thursday at Whyndam or is off for a rest.

Wonder why pool totals for fixed prices aren't given? ... being in Sydney and betting on NZ trots I must use fixed as some place pools don't even hit $1000 hence I was so peeved at a potential $550 place return on her drive yesterday.

Just reading the report - Rafa Novak broke passing the 350 metres. Thank you Mr Chairman Munro and your 2 probably well paid junior stewards for your extensive report and asking my driver what caused the horse to break. Also R12 $3 fav Mossdale Lottee breaks when hitting the lead with 200 to go and all they can write is the following. MOSSDALE LOTTEE - broke over the concluding stages. And they wonder why punters have no confidence in anyone in harness racing and betting turnover declines.
-
Had a decent for me go Rafa Novak for a place today, thought he was great value v some of the Southland battlers, watched the replay 3 times now he was cruising 3 back most of the race but Tomlinson always had his head right on the head of Nathan Williamson in front of her, parked horse was dropping off and Nathan's urges his horse and he didn't contact Rada Novak but I think spooked him as he was so close and hence broke ........ would have placed for sure and looking forward to our incompetent stewards write up re this. Of course she come out and wins the following race too ....

How good was that drive by Charlotte on a pretty average trotter so to speak, 11 out of 10. Interested to see Monty Python goes an the grass tomorrow and what price... long straight should suit.
-
A couple had mid race mishaps which happens and the other won a maiden last week and the idiot punters sent it out a $1.90 fav in a mobile start 4 days later v a horse in Crusher Collins which has won close to $50k....... Sorry Globe I thought MM was home, 55 last half leading and still got run down, great drive by Brad just beaten by a by a horse with the softer run- great season I assume a spell now and hope Dark Horse is ready to rock and take over.
-
Charlotte had their child not long ago so must be hard to find time especially driving down south for 1 or 2 drives but I see is driving Alexy next week and maybe others. Wonder where trotter Davey Mac is, finally found form for Phil but disappeared.

No fixed odds here in Sydney until an hour or so before race 1 generally, so I bit of guess work re prices but have found a few I like for various reason. R1 Steel Dust- new driver with Gerard up even though Terry is driving at the meeting, might step better with a new driver and being the widest of the 5 unruly will help. R3 Art Collector - must be fit by now and not a strong bunch. R4 She's Allthe Craze - raced well in stronger fields before, odds should be there and a soft run on the fence might bob into a place. R8 Woodlea Explorer - hope for luck but with most of the favourites drawn the second row should be a decent place price. R10 Kingmaker -good place bet, should drop back from the draw and hopefully follow the favourite Steel The Show and run on.

Good luck guys, MM a realistic winning chance and at best Monty would be top 6. Any update on Dark Horse ? I assume spelling again. Cheers

Cheers HS , didn't realize the bad weather was so destructive in the area.

Many late scratchings with transport issues just announced..... one being Valmagne from r10 which is in 4 hours and trained pretty close to Methven. R7 Tracksarefortrains R9 Cast No Shadow R10 Great betting race, not sure why Ruthless Kayla is paying $10, maybe due to the draw but race fit and has won on the track. Was keen on Rituer in race 8 but is one of those late scratchings, will take a guess on Girls Let Loose in the same race and hope she steps away.
-
R5 Foreigner - plenty of potential breakers so might lead or trail and grab a place R6 Jazelle - soft run and hope for the gaps R9 Miss Moppet - got a feeling will beat the Kibbybones R10 Tombelina - hope to jump out then trail

20 years ago the first race was $25k in prize money... and shock horror still is which is absolutely pathetic and I bet the winner will be lucky to get $12k, poor form from NZ Met and HRNZ. A few EW King Cassidy Ruthless Kayla Sundees Sun Bad to the Bone Ali Lindenny
