WTF is Social License? Do you need one to go to the pub?
-
I quite like that. The consecutive strides is a nonsense rule. I had a horse a few years ago who would sleep all day, sleep when the saddle went on, fall out of the gates, hold his position but if you didn't give him a couple of good whacks would just cruise to the line. But boy when he got the message did he put in! Washed him and he was asleep again.

I'm the same! Stuff the Woke! Britain as a country is stuffed so I wouldn't use them as an exemplar on ANYTHING. As far as I'm concerned if we start down this path it is pulling the finger out of the dyke, it is the last straw on the camels back, it's the beginning of the end of racing. Never ever give in to the minority single issue obsessed. Net zero is dead in the water. The science behind climate change is flawed. If the anti-racing types are so huge in number let's see how many turn up tomorrow at Ellerslie. Over the last year I've introduced dozens of people to the sport of racing. They still enjoy a medium roasted lamb with mint sauce and gravy!

I like my icecream well whipped with a flake on the flank and a few hundreds and thousands.

They had a similar offer when I walked on course for the NZ Trotting Cup to sign up to Betcha. I spin their wheel which could have doubled the offer but all I won was a pair of socks with BETCHA printed on them. Anyway when I used the code for the offer it wouldn't give me the full offer. So I suspect some offers are adjusted. Who knows but what I've been told is if you win a lot you don't get any offers or at best reduced ones.

Doesn't stop you why should it stop me?

Racing Act Legislation and TAB Rules allow the TAB to lay bets off!
Trojan replied to Trojan's topic in Galloping Chat
There is nothing in the rules to say they have to lay off on the same event either. -
Racing Act Legislation and TAB Rules allow the TAB to lay bets off!

But they wouldn't need to lay off much to mitigate some risk. The tote punter gets screwed anyway because even if they bet 10 seconds before race start the price changes after the race start. That would be feasible as again there doesn't appear to be a rule against it. -

Good question. Who knows what the back end of their systems connect to. Their other brands in OZ? -
I had an argument with a long term big punter in the pub the other day. Another mate and I were discussing how the Fixed Odds at times are priced really strangely for particular horses for example Orchestral. Was she short in the market initially to attract your average punter to throw it in their multis? Like a form of reverse psychology. We also discussed the improbability of how often Fixed Odds end up equalling the Tote price - particularly AFTER the race has started. We decided that the TAB lays Fixed Odds on the Tote on a fairly regular basis. Anyway the big punter (won a few punter of the year competitions) piped in and said that the TAB didn't lay Fixed Odds bets and it was in the rules. So I had a spare moment and looked at the Racing Act legislation and the TAB Betting Rules. It specifically says in both that the TAB CAN lay bets. The TAB rules say - LAY OFF BETS 13. We may at its sole discretion place all or part of a Fixed Odds Bet accepted by us on another betting system to manage its financial exposure. Off to the Thirsty Thursday session to get my two jugs I bet!!!

There's an old Einstein saying doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity. Doubling down on doing the same thing as in doing it 3 times as much is worse than insanity it's a path to oblivion. Or as Einstein would have said a one way trip to a big black hole!! -
Been to Trentham twice in the last year for big meetings both times the trains were cancelled for the day. Bet the same thing has happened today or people have given up. Surely the club can talk to whoever does the maintenance and get it deferred for about 6 Saturdays a year! As for frigging shute! Where else in the world is the only vision you can get for the first 600m of a Group Sprint is from an overhead drone!! Because the built houses and left piles of rubble that blocks the view!!! Not only for cameras but for Stewards and people on course!!! Are you there @Dark Beau ? Sort it NOW!!!

Who out there is off to the Telegraph today....
Trojan replied to TAB For Ever's topic in Galloping Chat
Of course he is going to say it is the best in the country after he just won the bloody race!! What did you expect him to say that it was a second rate Grp 1 run on a shyte track?! Oh year? So the houses and mounds of rubble that look an absolute mess for the "Champagne Turf" of NZ racing is deliberate? By the way no stipes side on view available down the chute because of it!! Oh and the ambulance and stipe services can't keep up unless they are in 4 wheel drive over the mounds of dirt or follow on the course proper! Did anyone tell Crocetti's trainer that the Track wasn't really a Soft 7 but a Good 4 or better especially in the chute?! -

Yeah well the last two times I went to Trentham last year on big race days the trains weren't running. Replaced by buses! -
Yeah well there were about a dozen senior riders at Ellerslie yesterday who could do with some tactical advice.
-
Great days out and introduces harness racing to the country and holiday makers. For them it isn't a bore fest. Lighten up or get out of your heady eliteness.
-
Isn't the main responsibility of the Stewards who take control raceday? They just need to get to the course earlier in their tracksuits and red bands and check the track rating and the camera. Then put on their frowns and raceday Italian suits.

Big win for C Wightman, Team Green and Pivotal Ten
Trojan replied to Murray Fish's topic in Galloping Chat
Really since when have I labelled most of the successful in the industry as "troughers with gravy dripping from their chins" or called anyone who disagrees and "OBC apologist"? FFS why would I listen to Molloy or even let him affect my opinion? I form my own opinions based on my own experiences. I've read Wightmans written diarrhea for decades. He never follows through and spends most of his time tallking about himself!!! As for the Molloy and Wightman feud they're equal protagonists in that one! Who is brainless? Wightman is still doing it! Quite frankly the industry would be better without him.
