  1. Rubbish. Why have the survey in the first place? Social license is crap. 30% of the population is enough to sustain racing. If you don't like it then take up another sport like darts. Since you are already part of the 70% it will mean no difference to those who still like the sport warts and all.
  2. Yeah Na @Thomass can't prove his accusations. Fake news again!
  3. Doesn't matter what nomenclature you use if you don't measure using at least two quantitative measures that are reliable, repeatable and consistent across surfaces albeit with specific calibration. The track ratings in NZ are a nonsense. When was the last time you saw a penetrometer reading?
  4. Uh? Your post is incomprehensible!
  5. None so blind than those who can't see. Prove she hit the flank?
  6. So what's wrong with 70 to 80% disagreeing? So 20 to 30% of people like racing? That's sustainable.
  7. You're blind.
  8. She doesn't "continually smack the flank" except in your dreams!!! For fuck sake is there any top Jockey in NZ you haven't bagged!!
  9. WTF is Social License? Do you need one to go to the pub?
  10. I quite like that. The consecutive strides is a nonsense rule. I had a horse a few years ago who would sleep all day, sleep when the saddle went on, fall out of the gates, hold his position but if you didn't give him a couple of good whacks would just cruise to the line. But boy when he got the message did he put in! Washed him and he was asleep again.
  11. I'm the same! Stuff the Woke! Britain as a country is stuffed so I wouldn't use them as an exemplar on ANYTHING. As far as I'm concerned if we start down this path it is pulling the finger out of the dyke, it is the last straw on the camels back, it's the beginning of the end of racing. Never ever give in to the minority single issue obsessed. Net zero is dead in the water. The science behind climate change is flawed. If the anti-racing types are so huge in number let's see how many turn up tomorrow at Ellerslie. Over the last year I've introduced dozens of people to the sport of racing. They still enjoy a medium roasted lamb with mint sauce and gravy!
  12. I like my icecream well whipped with a flake on the flank and a few hundreds and thousands.
  13. They had a similar offer when I walked on course for the NZ Trotting Cup to sign up to Betcha. I spin their wheel which could have doubled the offer but all I won was a pair of socks with BETCHA printed on them. Anyway when I used the code for the offer it wouldn't give me the full offer. So I suspect some offers are adjusted. Who knows but what I've been told is if you win a lot you don't get any offers or at best reduced ones.
  14. Doesn't stop you why should it stop me?
  15. To be Francis "social license" is a lean on for those who can't compete in the real world!! LOL stuff climate change let's drill drill drill!!!
  16. Says it all really another industry leader that's been gelded!!! Hasn't he caught up with your statement on Trump, Musk, Bezos and Zuckers? Poor Thomas the world has changed again!
  17. 1998 NZ Trotting Cup 1st Christian Cullen 2nd Iraklis 3rd Franco Enforce Apart from the first two it wasn't that strong a Cup field.
  18. There is nothing in the rules to say they have to lay off on the same event either.
  19. But they wouldn't need to lay off much to mitigate some risk. The tote punter gets screwed anyway because even if they bet 10 seconds before race start the price changes after the race start. That would be feasible as again there doesn't appear to be a rule against it.
  20. Good question. Who knows what the back end of their systems connect to. Their other brands in OZ?
  21. I had an argument with a long term big punter in the pub the other day. Another mate and I were discussing how the Fixed Odds at times are priced really strangely for particular horses for example Orchestral. Was she short in the market initially to attract your average punter to throw it in their multis? Like a form of reverse psychology. We also discussed the improbability of how often Fixed Odds end up equalling the Tote price - particularly AFTER the race has started. We decided that the TAB lays Fixed Odds on the Tote on a fairly regular basis. Anyway the big punter (won a few punter of the year competitions) piped in and said that the TAB didn't lay Fixed Odds bets and it was in the rules. So I had a spare moment and looked at the Racing Act legislation and the TAB Betting Rules. It specifically says in both that the TAB CAN lay bets. The TAB rules say - LAY OFF BETS 13. We may at its sole discretion place all or part of a Fixed Odds Bet accepted by us on another betting system to manage its financial exposure. Off to the Thirsty Thursday session to get my two jugs I bet!!!
  22. There's an old Einstein saying doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity. Doubling down on doing the same thing as in doing it 3 times as much is worse than insanity it's a path to oblivion. Or as Einstein would have said a one way trip to a big black hole!!
