  1. RV Group announces structural changes Racing Victoria Staff@RacingVictoria2 Dec, 2024O ,( Racing Victoria (RV) has today announced changes to the corporate governance structure and leadership of its 100 per cent owned integrated media business Racing.com Media (RDCM), along with its majority-owned radio business RSN Racing & Sport (RSN). The changes are the continuation of a review of the structure, resources and operations of the RV Group initiated by Chief Executive Aaron Morrison upon his August appointment. By better leveraging its great people, talent, valuable media brands, assets and audiences, these changes aim to simplify governance and decision-making, maximise return on investment, enhance alignment across the RV Group and expand opportunities to promote the Victorian racing industry to a wider mainstream audience. RDCM With effect from 1 January 2025, RDCM will come under RV operational management with the RDCM Board duties being absorbed through RV current governance structures and the currently separate role of RDCM Chief Executive no longer required. RV will commence recruitment immediately for a new Executive General Manager who will have responsibility for the majority of RDCM functions, along with existing RV portfolios covering marketing, customer insights, communications, industry promotion and content. Upon their appointment, the new EGM will be charged with ensuring the right structures and resources are in place across the group to maximise the coverage and promotion of Victorian racing in an efficient and effective manner. RDCM Chief Executive Peter Campbell has agreed to stay on until 30 June 2025 whilst the recruitment for the new EGM takes place and to assist with the transition, and during this time will report directly to RV Chief Executive, Aaron Morrison. The change will see some RDCM employees re-locate to RV’s Flemington headquarters from their Docklands office throughout 2025, bringing greater opportunities to align the RDCM team with RV and gain operational efficiency. The RDCM studio will remain in Docklands. RSN The changes to the media businesses will also include planned and agreed changes to RSN, which is, and will continue to remain, co-owned by the three codes of racing and located within the RV premises. RSN operations will also be integrated under the revised media business structure, with services provided back to RSN under a new management agreement. Other planned changes to the RSN Executive structure will also take effect from 1 January 2025 which includes Bernard Saundry stepping down from the full-time role of RSN Chief Executive as at the end of December 2024, as he takes up a new role as Chairman of Harness Racing Victoria (HRV). Future Plans Moving forward, the core delivery of the RV Group’s market-leading raceday audio and visual coverage, and its execution and management of current commercial partnerships and priorities, will continue as normal. It is anticipated though that further positive structural enhancements will occur in the new year, aligned with the finalisation of RV’s new management structure, and following a comprehensive review of all operations and assets to ensure the RV Group is best positioned for future success. Quotes attributable to RV Chief Executive, Aaron Morrison “Our media businesses continue to do a tremendous job showcasing Victorian racing to national audiences each and every day. These changes are designed to build on that success and leverage the resources and capabilities for the broader benefit of the Victorian racing industry. “Our stakeholders recognise the great benefits that our media businesses have delivered, and rightfully expect that we’re efficient in our operations and maximising our investment. “We’re going to do that by simplifying our governance structures and creating greater alignment across the RV Group so we can maximise our investments in our assets and talent. “With crowds increasing across the Spring Racing Carnival there is renewed interest in racing. We have a tremendous opportunity to capitalise on this, and further elevate the promotion of racing to a broader audience. “We need to ensure that we’re not only showcasing Victorian racing on our owned platforms, but that we’re working with others to grow coverage of the sport on theirs. “We have some outstanding talent across our media businesses and RV and we’re excited to bring them all closer together to achieve positive outcomes for the sport. “I want to acknowledge and thank Peter Campbell and the Racing.com Media Board led by Rowen Craigie for their incredible passion, hard work and contributions to the business. All have played pivotal roles in shaping and driving the success of the business. “I also want to acknowledge and thank Bernard Saundry for his leadership at RSN and wish him well in his new role as Chairman of Harness Racing Victoria. Bernard has guided RSN through a key period of transition with great poise and commitment.” ENDS. Background Notes RDCM incorporates Racing.com, Thoroughbred Racing Productions, Best Bets, Winning Post and Racing Photos. RSN is 73.25% owned by RV with the remainder owned by HRV (18.75%) and Greyhound Racing Victoria (8%). Today’s announcement follows last month’s appointment of three new RV executives to fill vacancies created throughout 2024 and to bring valuable knowledge, capability, stakeholder engagement, racing and sporting experience to RV. Janelle Helleur was elevated to the position of Executive General Manager, People & Performance; Peter Betson commenced last week in the role of Executive General Manager, Strategy & Corporate Services; whilst Vaughn Lynch will start as Chief Operating Officer in February 2025.
  2. l don't have a problem with the fluffy magazine stuff targeting a new market segment. I'm not sure what that segment is but... What I do object to is it interfering with the raceday broadcasts. They should be targeted at providng up to date information and preliminary viewing. You don't need in studio presenters for that. The Ozzie's do it really well. I suspect the Trackside management hasn't changed and it is being driven by the same old same old. The studio format is dated and the introduction of Heveldt to the raceday presentation adds nothing that couldn't be done by a smart continuity producer in the studio switching seamlessly between those on course.
  3. Plus $20m in expenses for all concerned. Police, RIB, Defendents.
  4. Ever heard a a wrongful conviction? They had nothing and stalled and stalled trying to find something. The only thing they got was the drug convictions which was peripheral. Hell given all the wire taps and secret surveillance you'd expect they'd had something. But that's why it got chucked out they had nothing. Financial damage was huge and only one had name suppression because they could afford to get it.
  5. Obviously the RIB betting analyst is doing some work and suspects late scratchings are a deliberate manipulation of the market. Perhaps the RIB might provide feedback on the silly head to head bet offerings. There have been cases where the two horses in a head to head have finished down the track.
  6. I tend to agree about Oatham.
  7. I take it then you believe he was poorly advised and had little direct input into the redevelopment of the Ellerlsie customised Strathayr built with the same iconic corners? The same track that has to be verti-drained at least once a week often more.
  8. Pukekohe can't need coring for Saturday and Ellerslie must already be done this week.
  9. The sales results?
  10. Did I see Paul Wilcox CEO ARC as a spotter at the Karaka Ready-to-Run sale?
  11. Hopefully they don't use the same Ellerslie experts.
  12. So what worked? Bringing him back to 1600m which is what he has won most of his races at or putting the blinkers on which he has never won with?
  13. I wouldn't consider 2 Grp 1's, 3 Grp 2nd's and a 4th in the Cox Plate "average". The 4th in the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley over 2000m. The fact is Mr Brightside has never won past 1600m. I'm not sure you know what you are talking about.
  14. Why would Balcombe be in the running based on his Club efforts and more recently as COO of NZTR?!
  15. Surely not Wilcox. Tracks are NZ's biggest issue and can you say the Ellerslie rebuild has been a resounding success?
  16. Not necessarily. But don't confuse Bonus Cash with Bonus Bets. Two completely different free bets. The T's and C's for each promotion can be different. If you original bet failed and you get some credit back then you can check the expiry date in the Bonus Bet and Bonus Cash section on the app or the web site. Let's face it you are getting credit back because your original bet was a losing bet. When you compare what you used to get from the old site I don't see what people are bitching about. I think if you are pricing value in the market by factoring in bonus bets then you aren't going to do too well in the long term. Plus with a Bonus Bet unless you use it on a high return (high risk) bet you aren't getting a lot back after they deduct the stake they lent you.
  17. Why do we have to suck it up? I suppose he supports this ludicrous "cradle to the grave" welfare policy? You can't support that can you afterall you shouldn't if you are worried about the integrity of the breed. The muppets worried about social license are probably sitting in the Kohi Cafe right now ponitificating yet don't give a damn about the cow that for most of the year twice a day gets milked for their latte's! Then ends up as blood and bone as organic fertiliser for their tomato plants! Surely they can see the headlines now from the very small animal activist groups using the very statistics against the brainless appeasers who are collecting the data. But that won't worry you will it as most of the horses doing nothing in a paddock are geldings and that is helping the integrity of the breed!
  18. Is that a bad thing? The best horses win on Good 3 or Good 2 tracks. The issue is managing the irrigation and the wear and tear over three racedays. No doubt there will be some fast lanes.
  19. Josh Parr has got the ride on Captured By Love in the NZ 1000 Guineas.
  20. Makes you wonder what was wrong with it in the first palce. A horse didn't actually slip in Race 3 when they cancelled it.
  21. Makes you wonder what was wrong with it in the first place!
  22. Seems clear in every promo I've seen. Seems an odd approach though to have cash back and bonus bets as a key part of you betting strategy. How do you price that value in?
  23. I don't mind Newmarket bagging Kah and not backing her. Gives more value to the prices of the mounts she rides. Got a great value price for Goldrush Guru.
  24. Bonus Bets and Bonus Cash are two different things. Each promotion has different T's and C's. Obviously with all the big racing on at the moment they have shortened how long you have you free bets for. Seems fair enough to me. I've never had a problem being credited any bonus bets or bonus cash.
  25. I can cook but I'm not a Chef. So what are the protocols/rules/standards for track ratings? Seems some clubs provide penetrometer readings and others don't.
