  1. There doesn't appear to be any on screen info of any sort, which probably saves them a wage.
  2. Soon after he was treated so badly he had a courier run. Don't no whether he still has.
  3. Yes.
  4. Reminds me of False Step's third NZ Cup in 1960 when Cecil Devine at the furlong peg stopped driving the horse out for a few strides thereby giving False Step a wee breather before asking him for a final effort. To me that won the Cup.
  5. They are only awful because of a hopeless starter who changes the way they start every other week, and some drivers trying to outthink him and get a flyer. Need competent starter, preferably someone from within the industry, and drivers must be made to obey the rules and not try to be "clever". As it is now the horses don't know what is expected of them at the start as it keeps changing.
  6. A lot of the races are "running starts" which seem to be better, although outside horses quite often are moving faster and get a bit of an advantage.
  7. That charge is ridiculous. She hit the horse 4 times about half way down the straight, and then if you add another 4 times that looked ok but giving the stipes the benefit of the doubt then the total strikes is 8. Still 2 to go but she didn't thrash the horse for the sake of it. If she had just sat instead of urging with the reins they would have charged her with not driving the horse out. This rule is ludicrous and just pandering like wimps to the do-gooders who know nothing about racing and hate to see people enjoying themselves because they have miserable little lives.
  8. Bit of tall poppy syndrome on here I fear. Chop him down before we really know how good he is instead of enjoying the interest he is creating for the industry.
  9. I think you are right galah. They don't want anything that looks like hitting the horse that will upset the "do gooders". Another case of the majority giving in to the minority, in this looney left liberal world we live in. No common sense whatsoever.
  10. Good to here as she was an excellent driver, and horses kept on running for her.
  11. For me it is David Clarkson who painted a picture with his calls and made every race exciting. Then it is hard to separate Peter Kelly, Reon Murtha, Tony Lee and Mark McNamara.
  12. Bit rough but 1/1 on Been To Jennys @ $19 and $5 for an interest in race 6.
  13. R7 Proactor R10 Pilch.
  14. Over the last few years I have not bet on the gallops because there didn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason as to why so many horses with good form etc didn't come in. False info on track conditions also didn't help. However recently I have been watching the win movers and particularly any change close to start time, and have had quite a good run of luck especially place betting wise. There is less chances in the harness but they are there just the same from time to time. It is still called gambling and losses will always appear. Thanks for your posts Joe Kidd, I enjoyed reading them.
  15. Just shows you what a huge effect Dexter Dunn had on the winners total for Cran.
  16. Agree with you Joe Kidd regarding stakes values missing, but you can get these values on the Harnessracing.co.nz web site. Only takes a minute or two to check them out.
  17. This starter is so bad that I I am beginning to think the frequent farcical starts are tote driven, by alias of course. If he is just plain inept then why don't they get rid of him?
  18. R5-7 Been To Jennys.
  19. One for odds, Star Paige in R6.
  20. R1-6 Feel The Money. R2-7 Agree with Unique Rose.
  21. Showing my age. Highland Fling, Gold Bar and Johnny Globe all household names of the past.
