    Don't laugh at the off season comment. Synthetic tracks are back in play. Jumps Racing is on a reprieve (for now). Even Weigh In is finished " for the season".

    Considering the time and money spent on this track (and the fact that Ellerslie had a big oops at their first meeting back) there should have been more checks made on the morning of the races - especially when the rail was moved after the trials. If the RIB take over on morning of raceday, what protocols do they have to check the state of the track?

    I thought a lot of his explanation on Weigh In was a lot of techno speak without a lot of understanding. Suggesting watering the night before races? We have experts on tracks. We have experts on horses. There seems to be a lack of communication between the two.

    So remind me again what penalty Kurtis Pertab got. Seems he didn't get a clear message.

    My big bugbear is not getting the times, especially after the 1st race when tracks miraculously get an upgrade.

    FFS why wasn't the new Racecourse Manager given training and support before? Just another reactive statement. They must have a number of "Abandonment Response" Templates by now. Just change the name of racecourse and Bob's your uncle.

    Article does not show the fact that Entain is being investigated in Australia for money laundering charges. Read the Aussie papers. Different angle on this.

    I read somewhere that they take over 25% of the betting. How is Entain going to make that deficit up if dog racing is canned? And yes, many may not like watching them, but we'll just get more Aussie dogs on Trackside to fill the void. Isnt it better to support our own industry.?

    From reading results so far from Book 2 - great results for buyers - dreadful results for breeders. Surely there are a lot taking a hit. Even if you selected a mid range stallion, surely you would have to make at least $50,000 to make a profit.

    Stuck $20 in BGP pool. Lost but was an interest for the arvo. Wonder tho why they dont bet each way.

    From what I could see there were no facilities for the public. They tore down the public stand - couldnt they have put up some marquees or gazebos. It looked like an empty wasteland.

    So if Ellerslie put in $5000 how does that equate to a $15,000 difference in the top stake?

    Just looking at fields for Saturday for Ellerslie and Otaki. Both similar mix of races but can anyone tell me why Ellerslie Stakes $30,000, $55,000 & $65,000 while Otaki $25,000, $40,000 & $50,000. I don't understand the funding differences.

    So if there was a comitment to addressing the underlying track issues - why didn't Darin Balcombe do this when he was running Hawkes Bay racing club? Yes its being done and thats good - but don't insult our intellegence with these empty statements.
