  1. Good question. Contracts are hard things to break and always involve costly legal action. And we are signing another 25 year one??
  2. It says a lot when the CEO says that stakes aren't a priority. Is this an attitude of someone who is probably a few pay scales above his ability? Certainly doesn't inspire confidence in his competence.
  3. Sounds to me like some very mutual pissing in pockets.
  4. So what actual consultation was done over this deal? I can't actually remember seeing any. Was it all done in-house? I still can't get my head around the 25 year term. I seem to remember similar "she'll be right" assurances when Trackside went to the Sky Network. Now that aint working out too good is it?
  5. So if the 2IC doesn't know fully about the deal, who is? There seems to be little information available on this.
  6. Maybe there should be a Peoples Choice category.
  7. Exactly. The headline says it all. How long do you think it will take Sharrock and co to burn through $160 million? I'm picking a couple of years at best.
  8. So hes an elite athlete manager with a side hustle of racing? Pretty good gig if you can get it.
  9. Funny how the trials at Awapuni were canned due to lack of entries, but the Foxton trials have over 20 heats less than a week later. NZTR this is trainers telling you something. Perhaps you should listen to them.
  10. Gotta agree here. Still think 25 year contract is going to have NZ racing by the short and curlies not too far down the line. Who in their right mind would agree to this.
  11. I'll say it again. 25 years is a long time for a contract. So is there a non-performance clause so if it turns to custard we get an out.
  12. Therein lies the issue. Everyone seems blinded by the sale price, but has forgotten that over the next 25 years, the profit will be going overseas. Look how we were told letting Trackside go to Sky would be great. Now hows that working out?
  13. Sharrock and co still get paid so they only looking for short term gain. 25 years way too long for any contract. Isnt Entain being investigated in Australia?
  14. I see a couple of former stipes in that list. The pay must be better at NZTR. Some of the titles are ridiculous. What do these people actually do?
  15. Where do I find this on the Loveracing site?
  16. Why is it when mainstream media have an article on racing, its usually negative? Where are all the high paid promo people from NZTR???
  17. Central Districts.
  18. That would be a change. I've heard that the stipes only drive around the course before the races as opposed to walking the track.
  19. How did the TAB (and I'll include as well) NZTR, RIU etc become so top heavy with management on big salaries? The actual return for $ invested is not good. I read a lot of crap on Loveracing, but nothing seems to be getting better. Or should I call myself The Pessimist.
  20. Looking at the sales results there must be a number of breeders whose sale price hasn't covered their costs. I wonder how many stallions service fees will be reduced?
  21. $50 admission is ridiculous. I've never agreed with admission fees. Let people have free admission and spend their money through the tote. If they do charge a fee, give them a free betting voucher. Punters Clubs may not be everyones cup of tea, but they are a great way of having a bet, knowing you are spending a set amount of money and being part of the day. Go the BGP syndicate.
  22. Because if NZTR move to Cambridge, do you think they will bother so much with the country further south. Had they not thought how much any relocation costs are? Or don't they care.
  23. Well said. Looks like the death knoll of central districts racing.
  24. As a matter of interest, how much money has been spent on the all weather track?
