  1. well the moment is season to season. You can only put on a product for those that turn up. HRNZ put on the races. Participants in the sport should turn up . SIMPLE. NowOrNever has hit the nail on the head (twice) These 2 Statements. They are the critical ones. Alas NZ trainers in the North have got very LAZY is what i'm putting it down too. mainly due to old age and being millionaires now there's no need for great effort anymore. Look at the lack of support for Fridays meeting . Tony Herlihy = one runner, Telfers = one runner, Dunns = one runner, White = one runner, Purdon M, N and B with only one runner each. Donnelly 1 runner Hackett 3 runners , House 2 runners , and hardly any Butcher in sight? Just 14 horses from 10 of the Top North Island Stables in what should be Peak season ?? lazy , laaazy. and Ray Green (with the young Delaney co-trainer )has 5 runners . so they are actually doing something and training and racing some. Only ONE of the top 10 stables working hard and get one some runners ? well done Ray and staff.🏆 we have about 10 trainers in Brisbane with horses capable of winning Metro Saturday nights (fast enough like Alexandra Park) and they turn out 1/2 dozen horses each , week in , week out all through the year. Why can't NZ trainers do that anymore ? lazy ? HRNZ put races on and no one turns up anymore . no wonder there's nothing to punt on and you're all crying . Lazy trainers. Not working enough horses anymore?. there's the reason old mates 🤣😎 Dr Chin is 80 years old and is still towing his 2 horses in to race Friday night ( he's not lazy that's for sure lol .bless him 🤣🏆😋)
  2. Leap To Fame really good as per usual. was quite a powerful win. Kingman hanging in worse than anything i've ever seen in that race ? he really has some bad ways. When Kingman was in NZ ha was hanging as you say , And that was just after his October Victoria Cup win over Leap To Fame at Melton. In that race he raced very awkwardly as well , and hung bad and then even broke stride for a few strides . was given a warning then on his racing manners. I can't believe he still won the race actually . Perhaps the horse just 'Won't Run' with a lugging pole on ? . You do get the odd horse that resents them and just refuse to stretch out at all as they lean on them and get cranky lol. I would think Luke would of tried one on Kingman in training? (possibly). as the horse is doing this a fair bit now (hanging very badly as you observed ) was even doing it at Menangle on the Big track.
  3. and put simply , and to finally wins the arguement with logic you can Not possibly argue with 😎👍 here it is. Of course horses are stupid and run into things. If it wasn't for the driver Several Horses per race would pile straight into the BARRIER Arm of the mobile . right in front of their face. Yes mate, there's plenty of stupid ones. I've seen hundreds hit the mobile (several on me) over the years and it would be thousands of the horse was without a driver . there's plenty of stupid ones 🤣🏆😋 Tony Herlihy would of been hoping and praying the horse could see the light pole coming up in front of him . Harrison John I think the horse was. so no light poles were harmed old mate, but PLENTY of Mobile Barrier arms have been . horses running head first straight into them . Case closed !!!!! . thanks ball boys thanks ball girls
  4. yes, was just discussing it with a mate . Leap to Fame seemed to be the best around yet KINGMAN has beaten him in all three classes including that Super NZ Cup win. Luke mcCarthy is just such a hard man to beat anytime. might have the wood on LTF ? beat him with Don Hugo in the Miracle Mile too last year , and likely to repeat. The Ballarat Trotters Cup went off just now and KEAYANG ZAHARA left em' to it Mr Galah . 22 wins from 23 starts now and she left the Cambridge Slot winner and Interdominion champ ARCEE PHOENIX struggling behind as she Zipped 27 seconds for her last 2 quarters. way too quick for them . Gus won't be at her at the Interdominion on that alas at our home Interdominion in Winter. will any NZers come and bother trying ? she's is super extraordinary for sure. a flying trotting machine
  5. No , but horses that are loose PANIC mate. You know this. I know this . Quite often they get loose at the gallops and crash into rails and all sorts of things can happen. some even try and hurdle the rails to get out there. they hit things alright. and don't they ever. Horses usually get a FRIGHT when losing their driver. Driving races is nearly a Fright and flight response we get from horses to make them go anyway. they take flight on most occasions. Horses are pretty stupid when making the decisions themselves mate. this is for sure. Most get on the steel (bit) early and just want to get the race over and done with. I had a nice mare from NZ that got tipped out in a race in a bad accident at Albion. Her driver was badly injured and the horse continued until it caught the field and piled straight into the back of someone and crashed to the track . Sly Davita was never the same after that and was a real shame as just about had her running 2 mins at the time , and was a basket case after. Horses would pile into things all the time if running loose Mr Galah , especially in a race . They've got no idea they're climbing over a wheel until they actually do it. Every race the driver will stop them from doing this. You know this ? so to be honest I've seen horses hit lots of things . a pole would be different but certainly not out of the realms of possibilities lol 🤣😎 afterall How many stupid car drivers lose control and hit poles All the time for one reason or another. (fate and luck sometimes) I see a horse as no different when out of human control. p.s my dad got a fractured skull in a race at Brighton once and was in a coma for 4 days , but luckily his horse got home safely after going out the service tractor gate , and a kilometre up the road to her stables , where she was trained from near that track, and even got the sulky' turned around in her stall (somehow when it was wider than the open stall door 😮 , and had her head in the feedtin in the corner getting her after race meal , trying to eat it with the bit in her mouth still a bit of a challenge lol 🤣 bit of a miracle she didn't hit any poles on the way though ? 👍😉
  6. horses are notorious for tangling once they get away on the driver. Horses behaviour is quite uncontrolled at this stage. The driver steers the horse around markers . not the horse itself. Of course with no pressure on the reigns the horse will go 'Anywhere' . Didn't you see Tony Herlihy on that Cullen runner that snapped a reign in the Group 1 Christian Cullen Cup week. ?? He was just on a ride to no-where after that. Horse nearly took John Dunn out with it as it went cross country on the inside at the Addington Back straight. and it still had the driver . I thought it was gunna hit the light pole for sure. Anyway , throw the book at the Juniors if you think it would help 🤣. I don't think it was/or would help . 🤭🍋 Here's a poor bugger without the driver in photo . a beautiful animal too. Can you pick him ??? Ran 4th chasing the field in this very Big Final even without his driver . probably win it if managed to keep driver 😉 lol. What a trier he was !! 🏆😎
  7. The look of the video is what Brodster mentioned very early in this thread . The reins are dangling everywhere on the ground after Holly tried to Hang on for 40m after being tipped out. That's is outrageously dangerous to start off with. Let alone the horse 'Having No Steering' thereafter and just going wherever it feels . With NO Driver the Horse is NOT going to steer around the track pylons is it? The Stewards report said it jumped one to nearly fall. Why blame this on another driver ? Suspensions ? really ? they're trying to win a race , and not concentrate on what a driverless horse is doing. You should of seen how many Incidents were in every Junior drivers race in the 80's in those 14 horse fields (usually of low class 'Not so well gaited' horses who were in a junior race for a reason) The reason being they weren't very good lol 😂. and those races were organized CHAOS as a result. Good for a laugh though. I used to just try and follow Tony Herlihy, the master who had a knack of winning and staying out of trouble. Nearly beat him once too😁. but he is just too good. I agree with NoworNever earlier too, Whom had said the race should of been called off instantly. By the Stewards. A dangerous situation developed right at the start , and most races are Stopped these days the moment a driver is lost from a sulky' early in the race. seems the best idea to avoid potential disaster.
  8. Fancy calling the great sport in NZ mediocre. Never before have the horses gone so fast , and races run for money than ever before with MANY great incentives like Slot races and that. The horsepeople some of the most experienced and Respected on the planet. Alas the Aussies have plundered them past 3 years because of the AMAZING NZ racing put on by the Amazing HRNZ. No ones perfect Brodster. But one should appreciate the efforts of the people involved in the industry as much as criticise them. Rules and regulations are in place for a Reason. Stake money is allocated at certain rates for a reason (that is unfortunately beyond your understanding) The ratings system for horses is applied For a reason. They've been formed over 100 years. The NZ harness community and it's racing and it's participants are World Class already. Some of the greatest horsemen in the world (and horses) are from NewZealand and are that because of the great conditions that were supplied by the clubs and HRNZ to give them that opportunity. Your criticism doesn't improve anything 'Jack shit' to be honest. 😂 Chief doesn't even bother writing to you now. you've killed the sport. just hangs shit on heaps of kiwis doing their jobs. Not everyone does there job the same as the next person. SOMETIMES you just have to Accept the Decision that is made by Stipes , or by a driver, or by a bookie , or why they have mile racing (there's the obvious answer to that you just refuse to understand) or why they have Betting limits (which is actually so obvious, it slaps everyone in the face like a wet fish ) except you old mate. under the rock .lol 😉🍋😁
  9. well another damning report from the Galah , to go along with Brodie's constant critical analysis of HRNZ, Entain, ATC and North Island racing , and feature racing and anything else that encompasses Nz Harness racing, including the Programmer and the Starter . you Might as well throw the Stipes on the bon-fire as well and the North Island Junior drivers. 😂 . nobody can do anything properly in NZ according to you 2 blokes ?? 🤣 Those juniors (except Delaney who doesn't drive much) seem ok in their records , and accusing them of not thinking of safety is a bit harsh. I'm sure they're better than that? and Coppins just won 5 races the first day at Hawera. Don't see you guys congratulating that fine effort ?lol. 🤭 probably Not good enough 😉 But on a more reflective note , since you feel sorry for BECKER getting the run around and nearly hitting the grass twice in one race, here's a funny 'Bit of a Yarn' just for you. 40 years ago almost to the day Feb 86' , the original BECKER was exported to Aus as a maiden from the North island. The purchaser hoping the horse by sire 'Lonero' might have a fraction of the ability of the Australian Derby winner that year in My Lightning Blue (probably the only good horse by Lonero ever😎 , and went on and won the NZ Cup) But BECKER was one of those horses that couldn't win , even though we were running slow 2.04-2.08 mile rates those days , and had about 30 seconds in race career from memory and only 1 or 2 wins. He was backed off the map at his first start in Aus after arriving ( to win about 40k 💰 I think it was from the Bookies. I remember helping get some of it on ) at some country obscure maiden race. but the Bugger Becker galloped at the start and lost about 40m 🙄, then battled back into it and ran 2nd. No collect lol. A real flopparooney was the old BECKER. they never recovered the purchase price on that horse. He was a bad buy. A real slow one lol. just the sort you could send to Hawera ? to flop around lol . 40 years on . a 'Becker' memory revived lol 😂
  10. you and Brodie forget the Major thing . Just like any Government or education funding or roads funding or medical funding ,with The Funding , x-amount is allocated each season / year to use. this is common for most companies needing funding. they have an annual budget. They have to use the allocation per year for operational costs as part of the calculated set up of a season of racing. it doesn't carry over if you Don't Use/allocate it. normal business . It is noble that you and Brodie worry about what is happening in the future years, at the end of the initial 5 year period where you're terrified ENTAIN are going to run off into the sunset . They won't IMO . Of course the amount funded could be less , as what happens time to time , just like with company sponsorships. and the racing could well be for much LESS Prizemoney as you are predicting .It's just the state of the sport these days. less interest in it than 20 years ago or even 10 years ago. less interest over time=less money invested. normal business acumen again. The Current decision making , whether be Ladbrokes (a ENTAIN subsidiary in QLD), or ENTAIN in NZ you guys never stop OUT CRYING their performance is poor , when without them, the Harness racing would be near FINISHED without their great support in recent years ? . We in fact have even better carnivals and racing recent times ,all around NZ for great prizemoney I'll give you an example. Victoria Harness is running at a seasonal loss each season last few years. Harness racing is just not a popular sport anymore. So they recently got Gov funding to keep going until the end of next year 2027 season. All the $44 million extra funding given will have to be used this year and next. it is to support the 2026 and the 2027 seasons. there are a lot of tracks and racing in Victoria . more than NZ these days. but They can't keep it (the extra funding) for future times ). It doesn't work like that. funding , as always is for Specific Time Periods. normal business acumen. will be back at running a loss after 2027 , so new plans will be made prior. Funding is seasonal. it's almost calculated to the dollar across however many race meetings there are in a year. Enjoy the Great racing while you can then !! before all the changes and cuts.
  11. I spose you're right , but companies All look to try and grab as many self interest bucks they can, and Exactly as you say , that's how the world Works. I find the last 3 years harness racing quite entertaining (Nz harness) I guess because of the New races and the Aussie involvement which has been outstanding. You got to see Swayzee and Just Believe and Keayang Zahara. some of the best ever. has been fabulous to say the least. but I was happy for the locals too, and to see the Golden Gait series at Auckland past 2 years, and those $60k races the other day for under $5,000 fee stallions , Run and Won by your 'Battlers' too at Ashburton !! but you guys Still weren't happy with HRNZ doing that?. So I guess that prioritized Self Interest somehow as well. Oh well . At least they tried to look after the Battler. was a good days racing and many not Rich and Famous got a quid. so it worked fine. kiwi Ingenuity strikes again.
  12. I know what you're saying. But really with the money they pour in (buying yearlings and that ) I can only support the rich and famous , as much as the battler. I hope they all get a win in the end. not many of them actually return a profit in the end , but have fun racing a few . afterall it is a sport and is about enjoyment as well as money. The quality of the horsepeople in the Nrth Island is off the scale high. Only a small band left and people like Tony Herlihy are the most humble wonderful people I have ever met. I am glad they put races on for him still in his twilight years . sure they're not battlers (any of those trainers left) but HOW good For the Sport have they been Over the years. Just amazing really. I love watching the NZ trotting still, and those bloes. Probably the saddest silly thing I do is seeing how you have given up on em' (after being really supportive up to a couple of years ago ) but Brodster has weakened you into his Bag everyone (ATC, Entain, HRNZ, North Island ) narrative , when really the product being produced is > STILL WORLD CLASS , and you can't see it . Bring on the next Cambridge night of Champions I say !! who doesn't love seeing the best go round ? everyone except me it seems lol 😅😂🤣 never mind. we all have faults lol.
  13. things cost DOUBLE what they did 20 years ago. everything. including running horses. It makes perfect sense when the entertainment dollar can be spent on other things. Family friendly things that the kids can get involved with too. kids usually stay outside a gambling industry until 18. Crazy to get them involved while doing schooling. Nearly all the current participants (NZ and OZ) are in the sport from family connection . over decades. The sport is fading (especially NZ ) with the family numbers a Lot less these days. people had less kids. Remember how many Butts and O'Reilly and Butchers there were for example at one stage? the next generation coming through is light in number. Roy even had 3 sons (and massive winning Son in Law ) that carried the Purdon colours for decades. Exactly what happened/happening. Barry and Tony and David Butcher, Mark Purdon , Maurice and Bernie still go round each week at Auckland like they did when I was there 40 years ago. They are STILL WINNING nearly all the races , (with the Dunn and Telfer satellite stables joining in too) at Auckland , and yet you talk about them like Brodie these days . that they're all rubbish and should be shut down with so few horse left racing ?? they're all due for retirement . They've all Served the industry THEIR WHole Lives and at the Very Top level . I've seen Barry winning Miracle Miles even lol. Yet this site Shows NO APPRECIATION of their magnificent achievements and wants them shown the door ? because the South Island is Better quality racing ? lol. 😅😉 a lovely send off for the absolute world champions of the sport. piss off Tony H. south Island is better. they still have standing starts and 15 horse fields . what quality that is for modern times lol. 😂 no room for you old mate .😁 sorry Galah , just a bit of 'Gamma' sarcasm to try and be cheery lol😋 Good on ATC still putting stuff on for those wonderful horsemen I say. should be applauded. Anyway they were/And Are All way too good to worry about any new participants turning up that Brodie called for. and the next generation which is Crystal Hackett doing trotters, and Nathan Purdon and Josh Dickie, Ben Butcher Matty White who are all struggling to win (or even get a decent team of horses together ) against those terrific old stables like Green and Barry Purdons that are still so competitive. The only hope was if you went hard at it with numbers (of horses and staff and starters) like Telfer and Dunn do , running stables in both Islands . QLD has Grant Dixon and Pete Mcmullen with over 100 horses between them. so they win a big chunk the Metro races they go in , and work very hard at it with great staff and great endeavor and Will to Win. you've even seen them both recently, winning 4 of the NZ very top features over the last year as well between them. just a Sensational effort. (2 with LTF and 2 with GUS) that's the model needed there. if going to survive. people like Diamonds and Stonewall. Dixon or McMullen . getting the bridles on and the horses racing. Bring it on !!!
  14. yes , sadder times are approaching. The sport is on borrowed time now as you say. We had a couple of miracles in Aus that has saved the day in some States when it would of collapsed . so wishing NZ some luck that the Sport can re-vitalise. My favourite of the Interdominion got re-vamped and is on again so things are possible. Alas NZ has run it only once the past 15 years so the sport lost all publicity. Victoria gone broke , and already running with the slashed stakemoney. yes I guess NZ will follow suit with the same amount of participants and interest I guess. ( QLD has even less generally but has Millionaire owners and Entain Ladbrokes propping it up for cohort of 500 horses racing weekly.) A lot of the NZ participants are retiring soon when the game closes there in North Island. They're ALL very old now. Mike Berger already did. But Ray Green, Maurice McKendry, Barry Purdon, Mark Purdon, AGH, old man Hughes, old Ferguson, Old Mango, Old David Butcher, even Bernie H don't really need to go round with them anymore after all these decades of success. No one has been good enough to challenge them generally? which has left very few even trying. for as long as I can remember. Perhaps the younger ones who might continue in the sport like Matty White and Arna Donnelly could shift to the South Island ? or Queensland would be better for them as get a lot more winners like Graeme Harris and Tim Butt did. some like Delaney and Phelan and Zac Butcher and Tony Cameron should tackle Menangle and really make a name for themselves . ? like Jack Trainor did for NZ.
  15. So you say all of America, Canada and Australia are wrong. with 8 horse mile racing. Ashburton looked great running a heap of just 9 and 10 horses 1700m races. very easy for horse and driver to find a spot and time their run. As Wilson House did from last and the outside barrier with average horse. in race 2 sorry mate. you're living in the past if you think and extra lap of the track makes a difference to punters. Might just put them to sleep waiting for the action to start lol 😎. Very Tiring ? lol😉 Swayzee would outstay you anyway. seriously though, I will mention having trained my first horses in NZ (nearly always over mile and half ) it has been WAY WAY Easier in Australia just Sprint training them over a mile . Rolling along 30 second quarters and zipping them home for a furlong or 2. Race driving a Piiece of Cake compared to NZ as well. you actually have to be a pretty handy driver to win in 14 horse races Brodster. with 13 others trying to mug ya. far far easier to win in Aus. I have mates going around Redcliffe at this very moment still training winners there. But NO CHANCE in the speed racing at Albion Park , and their horses would be dead of heart attack if they went 2400m at Redcliffe. 😅😂 they all say thank the Racing Gods for the 1700m . He's My Reson should be winning Race 7 shortly. as only 1700m . just get tired if had to go 2400m for no reason lol 😉
  16. yes that is definitely a problem then. Mile racing is for just 9-10 horses. We lobbyed QLD racing to cut the maximum field size for mile racing to 10. they obliged and bought in that maximum limit of starters thankfully. that's 2 down from the 12 they were racing at a mile sometimes, up to about 5 years ago as the horse's running 11th and 12th at the quarter mile were NO Chance whatsoever , and so there was drivers not even 'having a go' whatsoever if caught in that position. A very bad look. and Something you see in NZ racing a lot still, but not in Australia as we have 'proper' field sizes where everyone gets a chance thankfully. Doesn't have to be. Gallopers are still attracting good betting , and the stayers are getting more rare. And the vast majority of runners , race at 1200m to 1400m . there is still a few good mile runners, but once you get 2000m and beyond the Horses get VERY Tired. the Margins Blow right out , and it's quite '0ff-putting to the punter to see the horse they invested on finish sometimes 1/2 furlong from the winner 😅😂😁 Brodie probably used to it over the years finishing way back, but smart Punters are CLOSER to the Winner in shorter races. and enjoy that feeling. Gallops and trots. Who wants to see their wager way down the track in a stayers race ? no one really.
  17. yes it's much easier on horse and driver. Very routine and predictable. And a little Boring at times too as Brodie would suggest lol. not quite the action of a NZ Cup race lol. I watched just the one race yesterday, Race 2 with COURAGE REACTOR who was stone last at the quarter mile, but a fabulous timed run by Wilson House , coming home from the back, saw the horse get up on the line to WIN. What a Great thing to See . 9 horse fields are great like that (give All runners a chance to win ) and a beautiful racetrack like Ashburton helps as well. Some more great 'modern NZ racing' . and the way of the future .( and the present day too) .(Brodie only likes the 'Old days' 😉) Alas the long distance stuff is Too Tough on horses (recovery wise and race wise as well) Not many can do anything like was Swayzee and Leap To Fame do over distance lol. it's hard to keep them interested and racing well , without going 'Flat'. even after one hard run wide over a mile and half which can really knock a horse around and effect it's future racing. Brodie doesn't understand that , as is not a trainer. thankfully in Aus the trainers and clubs KNOW it's In the horse's Best interests to race a mile to a mile and a quarter as they can Back up and race week to week . Which is very important. so 95%of races are short as possible.
  18. Life is giving you too many lemons 🍋 T-man. You're behaving like a true lemon 😅 which is defined as an item of poor quality that always needs constant maintenance. you can go all Sour grapes 🍇 all you like , but Sam Collett after another winning ride , and in true 'Good Will Hunting' type style will be saying "How do you like them Apples? 🍏" as said by Matt Damon after some more success. you already know an apple a day keeps the doctor away 🍏 Good Will Hunting one of the finest film masterpieces ever made full of great lessons of life. Thoroughly recommend a viewing for your education . Robin Williams is fantastic in this show too. Perhaps one of the finest quotes in the movie is for you to take on board , and a lesson for all who miss the enjoyment in things is to remember this. "You'll have Bad Times. But it will always wake you up to the good stuff you weren't paying attention too "
  19. not slaughtered mate . Beaten a head by the $1.90 favourite. A stunning drive by Crystal to defeat Mark and Barry Purdon Group 1 winning trotters OscarB and 'Meant To Be' by lengths ? she must of nearly fell out of the cart to beat home some great trotters like those with a mid class mare.? 😎 well done Crystal. Mark Purdon might be too old now ??🤣😂🤭😉 Congrats to a very nice bloke in Bernie Hackett (Crystals dad) too. Quinella in the trotting flying stakes. Taking the win with multimillionaire John Greens trotter. a very deserved effort for top efforts year in , year out. Bernie, Michelle and Crystal sure have won heaps of trots and get them going well . Tonight they Made OscarB , who is a Dominion H'cap winner and was 3rd in the last Interdominion Grand Final look '2nd rate' . that is quite a result !! 🏆
  20. Horse has progressed ok since that win last Winter Mr Galah. Thought I would let you know this week that IMPERIAL COMMAND did so well in the spring he is attacking the Big Group 1 Maori Mile at Bendigo on this coming Saturday night. won't win it , as the champ Keayang Zahara will do that. . But since the Win last June IMPERIAL COMMAND trotted to 7 more wins and 6 placings from 18 starts to make Open Class. The Gaths have him going along nicely ok. they are great trotter trainers. Open class may be a bit tough though although he is down to about 1.56 capable now . not quick enough for a Group 1 though. footnote: Kingman the NZ Cup winner down to resume in the Bendigo Cup (the race before the Maori Mile ) on Saturday night. The trotters actually race for 100k. and the Cup only worth $75k this year and reduced to a Group 2 as Victoria Harness runs broke these days. so the prizemoney is falling away accordingly.
  21. Think with something like a casino, they aim for 9% winners , which leaves 91% losers. Thankfully on-line casino gambling is Not available Australia as the country would go broke in no time. People are very stupid in their gambling. Once they're on a roll or had a win they think 'No Limits' should apply. lol. I recently visited Crown in Melbourne , and was gob-smacked by the scale of 'Losers' I observed over a few hours. I had not been to a casino for 15 years odd, when visited Sydney star to have a look , and noticed most tables played $25 minimum limit as opposed to the $5 that was in for a lot of years . some blokes had huge stacks on card hands that were played every minute. the roulette they were losing hundreds every spin every 2 minutes. Stupidity reigned supreme lol 🤣 'fools and their money easily parted' as the old saying goes. Couldn't believe what I was seeing actually. The Crown Melbourne makes about $300,000,000 PER DAY 🤣😮. I had a calculated 30 bets on various table games (carefully avoided Pokies where you have to be a member anyway) and won 20 times so beat the 50/50 chance odds and came out $400 in front. son who was with me had 4 bets and lost all 4 at $25 each. so I gave him a hundred from my winnings and we went home. I've never seen so many losers all in the one Place at one time. You can only Hope and Pray they are always prevented from On-line access to the same thing as would be a disaster (for them and their families) better To stick to a few on-line 'small' restricted horse bets for fun and entertainment. and to support some great participants of the racing sport in some way.
  22. well it is not the greatest description to call a junior driver a star. But Crystal is still young and gets drives on her parents nice trotters , and also for one of the best trainers the World has ever seen in Barry Purdon . (and training partner Scott) so you do expect positive results in that case. For the record she has got slightly more beaten past 3 years , so she's not quite a 'shooting star' like Carter Dalgety in the Junior ranks , but not exactly a 'Fading Star' like dad Bernie yet either ? 😂😋. Crystal's Seasonal driving stats show:- 2023 200 drives for 33 wins ( or about one win every 6 drives) 2024 302 drives for 43 wins (or about one win every 7 drives) 2025 433 drives for 56 wins (or about one win every 8 drives) 2026 5 drives for 1 win (or about one win every 5 drives) best stats yet Forbury ? get on board mate 🤣😎🏆
  23. the fastest horse wins . A very easy concept. Mile racing is very easy to pick , but you old dinosaurs like slow grass tracks racing where they play for luck and the smaller stables can get a win in slow time. that's nice !! it's actually a nice thing to do that support. No smaller stables are going to win any serious Group racing though. The horses have been racing like Rocket ships the past 15 years at Menangle, and contrary to NoworNever's comment above , they all get a go as it is a Front Line Only . 10 across. So no interference. No-one in your bloody road if you're good enough , and the fastest horse will always WIN. They're all way too fast for you blokes to pick any winners lol .😁👍🔥 I'll give you one though . DON HUGO. he's a bit of a ripper lol 🤣. and TOKYO ROSE in the Mares races coming up soon for Grimson. Watch em' burn !!! 🔥
  24. they're happy with it Brodster. Been doing it since Harold Park closed 2010. the racing is sensational. we are nearly getting up to the Menangle pace in Brisbane now on the 1000m track . scary they are running 1.50 now.A 2 yearold won the 2 year old slot race last year in 1.50.2. Incredibly quick. And you saw him in NZ having a crack at the Derby recently named FATE AWAITS. Fate Awaits only a distant 3rd to the great horses Marketplace and Got The Choc's though. 2 of NZ's brightest stars. so there's Hope for fast kiwi's yet ??? 👍😎💰 send em' to the Brissy Interdominion this year mate. Makes men out of boys lol. 🤣 Miracle Mile usually about 1.48 winning time Chief. for the Grand Circuit horses. the very best 4 year olds that can run in ' Chariot's of Fire ' usually around 1.49 miles Standard FFA'ers around 1.50-1.51 miles three year olds 1.51-1.52.
  25. they had a speedy mare recently that did a similar thing Chief. Kiwi lad Jack Trainor (currently disqualified for 18 months) had a Mark Jones mare , the Bettor's Delight sired STYLISH MEMPHIS , who had average results n NZ , but really took off at Menangle through 2021-2022, winning the $200k Ladyship and $200k Queen Elizabeth GROUP 1's for Mares. one of them in a quick 1.49.2. Stylish Memphis even a bold 4th in the Chariots Of Fire and also in the Biggest race going, the Miracle Mile itself ,she was 6th in fast time against the boys too. Makes perfect sense they would try the same approach with their next speedy mare. Tokyo Rose might be it ??? Best of luck to her NZ connections. 🏆💰
