credit where credit due. The BIG 3200m field at Addington race 7 were made to stand straight up still, rather than running. Bloody excellent start it was. Congrats to the starter and the drivers !! and he got them all away beautifully. The G1 country Championship Final . 16 horses. Pinseeker bolted on the driver I think ? 8 lengths clear at the half mile. 27 quarter lol. or misjudged it lol. Another BIG Big win for Regan Todd. what an outstanding trainer . Robbie Close too. good on em'. BETTERTHANCASH with a big 12-1 win. (would of backed that too if having a bet) hope Regan and Robbie get togeather with Mo'unga for the tilt at the NZ Cup this year

Lol Big Bet Alerts coming thru from the TAB !!!
Gammalite replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
geeez... if you've got a spare 2000 to waste on a trotting punt , you might as well not bet at all anyway. you already have 2000 that you can do plenty of stuff with. why risk it on a harness horse? . that stupidity defies belief really. would be madness IMO. probably better to spend 100. have a bit of fun . if it loses who cares. and not break yourself another $1900 π€£. -
Great win by the South Island contingent just then of the Stonewall Team. AllAmericanPlayer winning the Group 1 (worth $100k) NZ Welcome Stakes from the red hot fav of Dalgety's at Addington tonight. Tim Williams is such a good driver. get's the best out of a lot of horses. that was a good win. congrats to Tim (and the Telfer's and staff) for a Fabulous Win tonight.

Think Goldi just letting people know where Mango is after his Hiatus Chief. He was a top level participant at one point (with South Coast Arden , etc) Telfer's are a strong team (2nd in the Premiership last season) so is good to see who is helping with the success. Seems 'Forb's' thinks that Josh Dickie is Not the one helping with Stonewall success π.

Gammalite replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Aaaah . those days when Purdons used to win some of the Big races. ChristopherV beaten here too in photo, by that young whipper snipper Marky Boy with MarkH π Alas, No sign of Starship . don't think it made the Grand Final though π. bit to slow (like a turtle? π) -

Starship? . This bloke in photo says 'Who's that? π . Send him over And we'll see who gets the Chocolates. Starship just crumb's -
stick with 'Tab the Terrible' . sounds good π Ya just rubbin em' Up' the wrong way TABman . Your knowledge is very good so no-one likes that sort of thing π. Who loves a smart-arse lol? . Chief copped plenty of grief for Knowing too Much recently at other places , compared to the locals there, who just resort to name calling , because that's all they know/knew on some topics. Anyway Who wants to debate with someone that they actually like ? better to get some robust discussion going with a 'plugger you are trying to get the best of.π ( that's where Chief lost a few rivals here ) he won the arguments with them so they disappeared to other sites and hold grudges π€£. Think the real 'Stayers' and 'Sprinters" here have got Chief under control so he has to improve his debating skills lol . Used to take my daughter to highschool debating each week against the Private girls schools. I immeadiately didn't like them π. might of been those grizzly South Islanders in the opponents teams?π . maybe Not a happy place ? I never lived there but must be like Tasmania . need 6 jumpers and a good arguement to keep warm lol. π

Looks Like Kate Gath Has thwarted the Larajay Vale Greg Sugars FFA, memorial to Greg Sugars , and taken victory with NZ bred Tango Tara for Norm Jenkin. ( the great trotter Tornado Valley owner) Kate also beat Jess Tubbs (Greg Sugars wife) in the first race at Melton Saturday in a mid class trot with the Volstead mare PINNIE. Kate Didn't quite round out the Treble though as I'M READY JET who she bought to Cambridge recently for the Big TAB Slot Trot was beaten narrowly a head by KEAYANG ZAHARA. resuming from that amazing 3 year old year 2024 . KEAYANG Zahara remains undefeated 15 from 15 , including that Big Addington treble late last year in the Ascent and Nz Trotting Derby and NZ trotting Oaks. Will be interesting to see if she handles Open Class now as a 4 yearold ? good win first up to kick it off. π HEre's the results of the Vale Greg Sugars FFA. still won 2 races early in the Auckland card with 2 nice South Islanders in General Jen and Redpark Warrior and also placed in 3 Group races on the night for Hopes and Emaa Stewart as well. It's just the 5 Allstars drives that ran unplaced that Blair drove. There's your Big drop off in form Chief. as I predicted from last week .
-
That's all it takes at the top level. Well Blair lost about 6 lengths with Chase A Dream in the Roy Purdon Memorial Chief. drove it a bit hard though , in a quality field. only a shadow of When Mark ran 2nd to Leap To Fame with him. Young Carter now with the Best horse in NZ as Republican Party takes AKLD Cup, Messenger and Roy Purdon Memorial group 1's . well done to the Dalgety Family . Great to see BET N WIN take the Rowe Cup for the Whites. Thought Muscle Mountain would bolt that in , but only 4th. The 'Queen' went very nicely for Chris ALford into 3rd spot. She's a real treasure and always gives her best. Bad Luck for Blair Orange . Had 5 Allstars drives for didley squat tonight. No wins again for the starry team . Mark back in the bike soon ?
-
Well Greg O'Connor gave the Nigel syndicates a big plug after the Cool for Cats win on the race coverage. The 'Bounce' may of not got the money , but the Westview and Unhinged and Witches lot's get a Group 2 Delightful Lady Classic instead. There'll be a few photos sold tonight ? π And beat a Emma Stewart runner too by half head , which is an incredible achievement. Didn't see that coming. Ripples should of had them on toast , but Blair looked to be struggling with her a bit. Needed Cam Hart driving it and it would of won by a length like Swayzee lol π
-
Think they must have a very large number of horses on their books as well, as have a lot (large number) of different starters each year. Cocktails and Caviar won well in the first race in the end, and driven real well too . Chmiel did a great job and held them all out by a length easy in the end. TakethePlunge only a photo print out of 2nd after going wide last half , but only 4th . go well with a good draw . Blair getting some wins at Auckland already for the Cullens and MarK Jones too. getting well warmed up for the Allstars drives by the look of it ? π
-
Certainly enjoys his racing . Knows all the horses and trainers and that going back for years. You're probably ahead of him assessing 'Track conditions ' though Chief. Maybe we should use him as the BOAY rep in the run to save Alexandra Park from it's demise ?. I have a new method/theory/idea/ we could use to Save the day and Pay the ATC debt. and have the best harness racing in the Southern Hemishere. πππ
-
Nigel and Family got a nice reward with BOUNCE n BEYOND winning a Golden Gait for them in December. He resumes tonight for first start since that win, so with you mentioning the dedicated man Nigel , might as well have a tenner on it in Race 5, to cheer him on . Go The Bouncer !!! π¦π¦π°

you can't get out in that weather mate .π I just saw the Addington and Auckland forecasts today and it is lousy lousy. think it said 11 and 14 (during the day ? ) talk about live in a freezer. Some of unhinged Videos of the Winners during the week at Addington looked like they were battling a blizzard almost. π You kiwi's are Super tough. Some of his videos at the beach of Dunns training just leave you shivering. am eternally grateful for the 10 months a year didn't even have to wear a jacket training in QLD . βοΈ t shirt, shorts and helmet βοΈ and away you go. our Mid winter days it still usually reaches 20 degrees during the day. great for training all year round.

NoworNever just above is suggesting it's a travel and experience thing for those Telfer runners . Seems a bit cruel on Punters and owners if that is the case. Can't they get them fit at home anymore ?
-
seems a particularly weak field for Akatea's race. The other Telfer one that Newmarket mentioned is up against much better horses and trainers? . Cocktails and Cav is only showing $1.90 ?? as well in race 1 π³, And 2 of it's 3 wins were over a year ago. Up against some good trainers like Regan Todd, Mark Jones and Steven Reid in the first race , CandC seems only a runners chance?. TakethePlunge (No 7) looks the one to beat for me with Ricky May on, from 1 then 2 and 5 for the First4.

getting too Cynicalπ . I loved Craig Ferguson late last year when driving Marketplace brilliantly , and also winning the NZ Derby too at 15-1 ( We Walk By Faith ) , but after a 'Bit Of A Yarn arguement' converted me to serving it up to him as wellπ . Getting beat on Marketplace a couple of times lately , and Mo and DSD . we're a fickle bunchπ€£. Yeah , get Nathan to lift his game too π Allstars owners don't need the cash at all Chief. so don't see them selling very often. Chris Alford is probably staying with them . and is driving the Queen too.(Queen Elida In the Rowe Cup) .The trainer ex-pat Brent Lilley learnt the trotters craft at Roy and Barry Purdons a long time ago , before shifting to Victoria and doing very well . Think he won an Interdominion Trot final once.
-
They have 8 runners tonight in some good races. Let's see how they go then. I'd back some of them with Natalie or Mark driving.they just don't go the same for Blair ( nor Cox for years of trying either ) Interestingly Chief , In a feature Group 2 tonight the Delightful Lady Classic. Chris Alford from Victoria is driving one of the Allstars runners , while the Victorian Favourite Ripples is being driven by Mr Orange. ?? that All seems a bit wierd to me ? is Blair hired help to prepare the Allstars or not? Nathan should just hit the Gym and lose some kilos and drive them himself. stop that sort of thing happening .Nathan drove quite a few winners in Aussie once. Just being a bit lazy getting the Big training bucks from the millionaire owners I think π€£π would do him good.
-
Terrific summary of some great results TABman. the question was . Why have they dropped off the winners list a bit lately ? The Galah thinks since Natalie left she took the 'gear supply' chain with her lol. (I doubt that, but it's not out of the realms of possibilities ) he thought Covid disrupted the supply. something he can argue with Chief about. The Galah thinks with Blair driving/ training at home the team they should continue winning the same. I disagree and as you mentioned earlier he doesn't train his own , nor driven the Interdominion winner , nor many things. Mark has had Lazarus conquer everything. (Lazarus the best NZer ever) and Natalie had Blacks A Fake conquer everything ( Blackie being the best Aussie ever (until superseeded by old hubby Grant with Larry recently )) Therefore the Amazing Dream ( love the pun there π ) combo of MARK and NATALIE we're always gunna Smash the Australasia world together. And they Did. Chief thinks the Allstars results are still fine. But most have noticed the drop off in number of wins even though the prizemoney is still good from placing in the Big races . ( e.g were 2nd in the Betcha race to Larry to earn good money) Anyway . it's great seeing Regan Todd , and Carter and Hayden winning the Big ones these days . apart from the Aussies. Note the Vic's have Emma Stewart sent a runner over to beat the Allstars tonight at Alexandra Park tonight as well . You guys are bleeding winners to the Aussie bleeders real bad now , with Aussies turning up all the time lol. π The QLD trotter looks a bit weak though in the Rowe Cup tonight though π. You should win that π€£. Hope Ben Hope doesn't get cleaned up by the stable-mate at the start again like last week lol π€£ silly standing start.
-
wow that was amazingly BAD. the Stonewall Lot had 18 starters at Manawatu the 2 days this week (where they run about a slow 60 second last half generally) for a return of 2 x 3rds (from the same horse Captains Secret ) he is the stable star picking up $1000 twice. wow that is such a waste of everyone's time and money ( punters too) that it defies belief . Luckily they have Good filly Stella Rouge at home in the stable with her 2 wins from 3 starts this year , but even with her must be slightly disappointed with the Great Northern Oaks 4th. The man of the moment in this thread Mr Dickie, didn't even finish the race in the GN Oaks with Sweet Maggie Mae. just pulled up π . John Dunn won with her the week before ? better hands maybe ? The Telfer Barn(s) is very Erratic. lots of runners 'hopping' and 'skipping' during the running quite often too.
-
Also won the 3 yearold Sires stakes 9 years in a row at the Cup carnival to underline their Young Horse Domination as well. Winning it the past 2 years with Don't Stop Dreaming and Chase A Dream ( both driven by Natalie) Their NZ Cup form has been Great. I don't Believe you for a Moment picking on that race. Mark and Nat Quinella in 2020 . Self Assured a Big winner from Spankem . Then Natalie sort of retired when Amazing Dream won the Auckland Cup not long after. so the Allstars haven't won the past 4 years. . 2 NZ Cups won by COPY THAT and 2 Cups by SWAYZEE . Akuta ran 4th as a 3 yearold then a very good 2nd to Swayzee before breaking down . then Don't Stop Dreaming did everything but Win the last New Zealand Cup . (Blair did ok lol π ) top runs really. So the last 4 New Zealand Cups have seen Top shelf ALLSTARS performances still . Even though they didn't win them. Copy That ( that bloody Orangeman again π€£) and Swayzee ( that bloody Grimson twice ) stuffed things up 4 times in a row . and they said bad luck only comes in threes ?? π . probably cost me 10k in winnings too lol . but them the breaks π.
-
Absolutely 100% Chief. Their style saw a lot of Big wins come their way. You only had to watch Natalie get the Plugger 'The Fixer' home first in the NZ Cup one year to see how good they went for her. And clean swept the board with 'Ultimate Sniper' at the last Interdominion run in NZ with domination , beating the locals and the Aussies. I respect what the Galah was saying about that Blair Orange has helped them for years and years, but he is not as 'tuned in' to the horse as Mark and Natalie . comes from concentrating on One team . helps a lot too. Hardly Any outside drives as a distraction. Mark and Nat are at the Top of Mt Everest on the World Stage. Mr Orange is just at the Top of Mt Cook on the NZ stage. there's a wee bit of difference. Not hard to see why they lost a couple of lengths.
-
exactly it. and the major brand of Allstars officially retired with that Big Auckland Cup Quinella 4 years ago with Amazing Dream. The commentator even saying at the end of that contest. "Thanks for the memories ". Hayden Cullen then tried to run the ship , but had limited success before defecting to Telfers. Now doing quite well branching out on his own from there ( with help from wifey ) won the Group 1 NZ Derby Dec and the GN Oaks just last week. Mark did a great job for decades , after winning the Interdominion for his dad Roy and brother Barry with Mark Hanover at Auckland in the early 90's. what a champ he has been. A 'Job well done' retirement looming large. Lately just trying to get/keep his son Nathan (as well as those old millionaire owners that don't really need any more success lol π) well established in the game .Nathan must do most of the hands on. Olivia T even left them and went to Cullens to try and get some drives. Wonder what happened to son Michael ? he had the one trotter 'Mystic Max' he races/trains. Wonder why does No other horses? or helps Allstars? while he has the star 'golden dad' opportunity.
