  1. Terrible splits in the hoof . The Farrier did a great job with mushroom shoes and the like holding his hooves togeather virtually. Yes agreed that must of been seriously uncomfortable for the horse. The splits right up through the coronet so were never mending properly. and being a fast horse too .. Lord Module probably put extra stress on them every run more than the slow ones. Plenty of horses have tendon and splint issues that you have to work hard at to keep on top of but hooves like LM's just a nightmare to deal with. Kiwi ingenuity helped a lot with the shoeing.
  2. com'on Walt . Cecil (my fellow Tasmanian ) got a bit lucky there ? πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚ you are more likely to see the '1' rather than that '2' next to the great chestnut superhorse. maybe i just wanted you to have a nice evening out 1981 november evening and let him on past. What if he didn't run ? liked to Not Score Up at times . A lot of travel to dwell at the start old mate 😎 Better manners you get from the beasty Gammalite 😎. At least he gets going and gets in the mix ? even to this very day πŸ˜‚πŸ˜
  3. absolutely ..Surely the only way you are tarnished is if found guilty and convicted. the horsepeoples reputation as a good horseperson might not be damaged anyway. Mark Pitt is constantly winning Big races driving for Emma Stewart these days , and had a moment of madness at Cobram with another fine horseman , Nathan Jack . who is back doing well too. i think even though they were guilty and did time (did the crime >> paid with some time DQ ) now back winning races (as is Shane Graham in Queensland ) and all the tarnish ??? well just a thing of the past .. more of a blemish... only just ? πŸ˜† so the kiwis are effected mentally for life ? Surely Not ??? they weren't named officially , and were found Not guilty , and continued training/driving right through the 5 years ?? No Problem then for anyone . wouldn't even register a blip on the blemish meter lol...πŸ˜‚
  4. I think the mark would of been Very Black indeed if they convicted a swag of the professional Nz harness racing folk. Probably better they didn't . now it can fade away quietly. Funnily enough , even though many race fixers are convicted in Australia , no -one takes much notice as the reputation for 'red hots' is already there lol πŸ˜† .. the persons do their time and then get re-licensed and then get on with it. positive swabs are more of a problem as the offenders are like drug Addicts and keep re-offending lol.... no INCA needed but maybe we need......... Oz Harness Re-Hab ???πŸ˜‚
  5. Video surveillance and stable raids etc aren't that great for proving anything. Although it worked for case against Darren Weir i spose. As far as race -fixing goes ... what's it all about?? . it's about money. There's a money trail through betting agencies. Often in harness racing a low class event to avoid any runners accidently beating the sting /fix . 2 or more runners are involved . Most of the evidence is in the actual 'race video' . If Stewards don't make a case for 'running and handling' or 'not driving the best of horses ability' then usually the race just passes by and no-one notices. I would say about 1 in a 100 races i watch have 'something' going on, a little aiding and abetting lol πŸ˜‚ . Jockeys are more clever these days and get family members to put the bets on , and often they will know who's doing what. esp Sydney racing. the 'Extra' betting shows up more at the trots as smaller pools lol. The Bets are the REAL evidence. match Fixing is done so the players benefit financially. One of the best Traner/Drivers in Queensland did 2 years out recently when a disgraced disqualified ex Trainer wanted to put 3G on one of his runners. All Shane did (while driving the fav in a race) was have to give the lead to an opponent , which he did .. and that horse won . INCA should of had the evidence immeadiately , if their was a case to answer . Betting and race video. It's No good interviewing anyone. People Lie through their teeth when dis-honesty is involved.
  6. weren't the un-named suppressed persons charged with something Chief ? arrested and that ? A police matter is 'match fixing' these days. a very serious charge. If found guilty there's risk of long penalties like Pitt, Jack and Shane Graham did in recent years. disqualification and even fraud charges could be laid I imagine . the deterrent is obvious .... If you're being looked at by an investigating body , you best not break the rules. Stewards do stable raids and all sorts of things every week . Swabs are taken all the time . e.g RBT 's are a deterrent. they help deter people from drink driving.. yes ? the risk of getting caught is high so people are 'deterred from breaking the rules/limits. Swabbing horses , RBT's, Inca. even Security blokes sitting around the edge of a big footy game. ALL are DETERRENTS for those that might do something 'Stupid/illegal/ if they weren't there. none of them really want to catch anyone out . Isn't that obvious ?? what a deterrent is ?? the blokes in Australia were convicted by phone records and betting records. just the usual . If INCA had none of those sort of things their case (s) were hopeless. as they are solid irrefutable Evidence .
  7. Probably a good thing that nothing was proven . The Centaur just mentioned he thought the 'No consequence' thing might turn people away from harness racing. I think the opposite almost as the trots are already referred to as the 'Red Hots' for many years and if suddenly a whole heap of the Major players were exposed and penalised for systematic Cheating then the Product would be Definitely 'On the Nose' of all and sundry and proven to be a dis-honest sport right at the top level. and shunned by All people there-after. Galloping blokes I know 'Shun it' badly already , and you only have to look at what even enthusiasts say (like the Galah talking about Emma Stewart or Telfer for example) to see the Game already has a Poor reputation for 'dubious' going-on's. Heaps of Disqualifications would cement the Poor reputation. INCA by dropping the charges has saved the face (But was also an amazing deterrent to the current players to play fair )
  8. He's trotted to victory over the Oz superstar 'Scotch Notch' too Chief . you done some good training to pull that amazing feat off. πŸ‘πŸ˜†πŸΎ That very same hour in time....... old Wolfie was giving it to the Aussies as well . (in the 2nd photo) trying to knock off the legend.... Luckily it was just the 'Warm-up' night 2 weeks before the Grand Finals πŸ† πŸ†πŸ˜Ž
  9. Yes Melvander was 2nd in the above photo at the Addington Interdominion. Think Richard won a Rowe Cup with NO Response as well . Who can ever forget that barn-storming finish in his Addington Interdominion Win over the 2 Aussies . Tell ya what . I haven't been to the trots in 3 years , but will go along Friday night for night one of the Interdominion and try and get photo of Maori law and Leap To Fame exclusive for BOAY on my little camera to post... with Richard and Grant. and of course hope they both qualify for the Final in December. shame no Nz trained ones turning up . they won here 2001 with Yulestar (pacing) and Take A Moment (trotting final)
  10. hahaha.... who to Chief ? the names were suppressed ? do you think we should donate the legal fees for someone we don't know ? hahaha how tarnished are they ? did they lose their livelihood like McGrath ? think he was caught accidently during the investigation wasn't he ?
  11. Yeah... sure as hell.. wouldn't of gone down well if they took down some of the best players in NZ harness racing history either . That would of STAINed the Harness Game in NZ forever and perhaps even been the Death knell for it. THANK the Lord they failed . πŸ‘ Australia investigations were a bit more thorough and several players, have been outed for considerable periods for race fixing. The gathering and presentation of evidence (phone records mainly) was so much better done than by INCA. plenty of match fixing culprits did some time. That Is quite good that NO TEAM Driving nor Match Fixing (as it is called now by Police) as ever happened there in NZ ? funny enough it's all i read here 4 years ago was accusations of that occuring lol πŸ€£πŸ˜† so all sweet and innocent afterall ? how good is that ? fantastic ... a great result ultimately
  12. Yes I do remember that fantastic mare . here she is winning the Interdominion in Gammalite like style. Peter Jones gone to sleep it was so easy . 'Tussle' the mum of Scuffle who is mum of Spell who is mum of Spells of Love. Not enough to get me on board Walt . but best of Luck if you're on that one at Nelson. The Trot Interdominion starts this week and there's better one's there for you. Perhaps QUEEN ELIDA will win for All her New Zealand owners including the Barron family . will be great ? πŸ† Your 'Bonnie's Chance'/ 'No Response' man is still alive Walt. He won the Interdominion again 2 years ago with MAORI LAW , and he is bringing him to Brisbane Friday night. Perhaps a better bet than Spells of Love ?? . Richard Brosnan a great trainer of Trotters over the years. Send Spells of Love to him I reckon πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚ heres Tussle winning the Interdominion at Addington.
  13. Should they be replaced because they failed to get a conviction ?? is that what you mean? You need investigations mate. believe me. I've seen that many dubious activities in both countries that i could write a book. but you need evidence. In Australia they gave em a hell of a fright arresting leading horsepeople, just as INCA did in Nz . some got off... some didn't . Amanda Turnbull let off without evidence but Pitt and Jack guilty and convicted. Queensland had leading driver Shane Graham do 2 years. thankfully they let the junior driver associate driver off . Mark Pitt and N Jack win huge races in Victoria these days too. BTW Shane might win the Interdominion with TURN IT UP (owned by Marky Boy but leased to Nat's sister Vicki all going well) . Think Vicki was let off the race fixing too, but can't remember. Hey INCA Did a great job !!!! you guys don't recognise it but it STOPPED the ROT. no one game enough to try any of that shit on these days ?? good on em I say πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š game has never been cleaner !!!πŸ†πŸΎ
  14. I use Sportsbet nearly everyday Walt. They tend to put a comment about 4 of the runners on the right hand side , and i often have a chuckle about them. You can sometimes read between the lines who they 'Really' fancy or more importantly , Who they want you to risk your money on. I ALWAYS do my own form/ judgement . (usually involves ALLstars lol πŸ˜†) As for 'Spells of Love' ... many BOAY experts (way better than most form experts everywhere πŸ˜†πŸ») could give you a fairly accurate Comment on it's prospects. mine would be >>>>>πŸ˜‰ SPELLS OF LOVE : unplaced last 10. in top stable but still loves to gallop for no apparent reason. so if the Dunn's can't get it trotting then you are looking at kissing your dollars goodbye. Best to skip over and look for a better gaited horse . (the pacers in the following race perhaps )
  15. Been a bit unlucky with her parties has the young Jamie. Copped 3 months Suspension (along with Ben Melham, Celine Gaudray and Ethan Brown ) when they had a 'get-togeather' party during those stupid Victorian Covid Lock-downs in 2021. She missed the Spring racing carnival and potentially $100,000 + in earnings. some moron dobbed them in then too , it would seem.
  16. This is where the line is crossed. If someone wants to lodge a complaint or press a charge by breaking the 'privacy' barrier and revealing ones activities to the 'authorities'. whether it be a police matter (like in your wife beat example) , or simpler things like infringements at the workplace, reactions to something your neighbours do (like noise /dogs , etc) if someone lodges a COMPLAINT with the authorities then action might be needed. People do ALL Sorts of funny things/games/ acts at parties and get-togethers. and a lot of people might find some of the activities offensive .. but you don't worry about it after ... unless some poor lonely schmuck living under a rock , thinks the activities are not just 'Private entertainment' , and decides to get someone crucified and lodges a complaint and crosses that front door LINE. ( they're dead set degenerates)
  17. Seems the Dunn stable is still struggling a bit as you blokes noticed through this thread. still nothing in first place over the Timaru and Banks Peninsula meetings. However Carter Dalgety is driving super well , as am just watching the replays from yesterday he had 2 drives for 2 Wins and has Excellent 'Style' he has, as he drives them to the line . was a bit like the Dexter or Cam Hart 'style' and it paid off as both horses responded well for him and took the wins . HARRISON in race 6 and BETTERWITHBLING in race 8. Don't think either horse would of won without the 'Carter' great hands , and Brodster definitely Put us on to a good one there (giving Carter a plug a few times) . What they Should of done is popped on the Plane to Brisbane with KRUG and REPUBLICAN PARTY and get some wins up and Carter's career and confidence rolling along like Cam Hart's. Can't win the Interdominion sitting in your box/ stall at home. darn Grimson has won the last 2 Interdom grand finals with 'battlers' and it's worth a Million dollars this year. those 2 horses would clean up the locals. well maybe not beating LEAP TO FAME . but there's other heats. such a shame they didn't come. (Krug has done well here before)
  18. The trotters Derby at Addington might see a Queenslander there taking the spoils. NOT AS PROMISED set to make the trip !!πŸ†β€οΈ Last nights Breeders Crown Winner at Melton (and also recent Group 1 Victoria Derby winner) is set to sail across to smoke the locals there too? Nathan Dawson , the current Australian Drivers Championship winner this season, set to take on the kiwis at Addington. Addington unable to repel the SWAYZEE raid recently ....NZ Cup raid. So let's send a QUEENSLANDER (Q for Quality lol) and get some more Blue Riband kiwi honours πŸ˜†πŸΎ. Nz Trotting Derby ! Excellento !!😊 any horses left racing there ? Need a handy 3 year old trotter to hold him out .. sounds like he's coming over from an article today >>>>>>>>>>> across the ditch for Not As Promised’s shot at the New Zealand Trotting Derby on December 10. β€œIt’s been a very good few weeks, but there’s a lot of pressure and I’m just so glad to get it over and done with. We got the job done, which is the main thing,” Layne said. β€œNew Zealand is next week and hopefully we can do the same there.” Not As Promised has now won nine of 15 career starts for more than $100,000 in prizemoney. Dawson’s 381st winner this season was also the fifth Group 1 of his career.
  19. and the winners are .... Trainer Emma Stewart takes out all 4 pacing divisions with the 2year old colt 'Timmy Rictor' being the most impressive. and all the Breeders Crown pacing finals were won in about a 1.55 MR. The trotters were very steady and trotting only about 2.00 MR without any Nz opponents. Ex=pat kiwi John Newberry training the 3 year old trotting filly Breeders Crown winner . NORDIC REIGN driven by son Matthew. The Newberry family were in Clevedon South AKLD, for many years and won the Dominion trot Group 1 once with Cal Brydon. John spent a few years in QLD too and in the early ninties remember racing against him many times where he won about 50 races with BRYDON DUKE .The 'Duke' frequently competing against old Auckland Cup winner COMEDY LAD who won about 50 races as well. Last nights Breeders Crown would be John's biggest win for decades. ex-pat Nzer and trotter specialist Brent Lilley had 5 x breeders crown trotting finalists but they all ran unplaced.
  20. Once a Happy hunting ground for some Nz Winners. Nothing for Nz again this year in all the Big Group 1 Finals tonight at Melton. Nz harness has quickly retreated into it's shell and barely get a runner in these features these days. There's Barely a horse coming to the $1,000,000 Interdominion next month at Brisbane. run out of Winning vibes with Allblacks and BlackCaps falling short I suppose. Emma Stewart stable won an Incredible 7 of the 8 semi-finals last week and beaten a neck in the other by the Captain Ravishing man Freddie Taiba with his good colt Nathan Street. sure to feel the wrath of the 'Stewart barn' in race 5 as the whole front line comes at him (along with a ex-pat kiwi Kyle Marshall horse too) Think Emma Stewart qualified ALL 15 horses they had in the Four Semi finals . πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†. an Outstanding Achievement, The Galah will even enjoy that ?πŸ˜†πŸ˜‰ only a few short years ago 2013-2018 era New Zealand Trained horses were winning these races!!!. Dexter with 'BIT OF A Legend' a couple of times , and KATY Perry' for the Dalgetty's. ....Mark Purdon was sending home in first place 'Follow The Stars' and 'WAIKIKI Beach' in the 2 yearold colts... and 'Our Dream About Me', PARTYon and PRINCESS Tiffany in the 2 year old fillies division's ...... and BOOSTING Nz breeding accordingly. The last 4 years or so Emma Stewart nearly clean sweeping them . including winning with stars Act Now, Ladies In Red and Encipher . so have nearly shoved Nz out of the picture altogeather .. come on boys !!(and girls) show some fight and get back in the Mix ?.
  21. A great effort by the juniors in the trot art Auckland race 1 . only a neck between the first 4 odd as they all gave their charge , a chance at victory. wow only small fields tonight. see Harrison writing in here thread, but/because No Telfer runners are starting at the races . Why not? . the prize money is good .money for jam. spose half the card is trots (4 races) so a bit more specialist approach is needed then. Bernie Hackett with only 6 trotters in across the 4 races ?? wonder what's happened to all the horses? couldn't of knocked off for summer yet surely lol...πŸ˜‚πŸ–οΈ best time of year racing now , and no-one there racing ? we used to do 20 horses between 3 of us at a stable South Auckland once. Don't they train horses to get to the races anymore much? some of those North stables only have a 'handful' of runners any month these days.
  22. Think you're right there mate. Upon viewing a lot of races it is hard to fault the endeavour of the young drivers these days. They dominate in NSW and Brisbane these days (20- 33 year olds) Grant now one of the last 'old boys ' πŸ˜† that goes around regularly, at about Mark Purdons age. You have commented on Carter D already, hardly puts in a bad one (drive) . Sarah O'reilly on the Methven Cup winner early October, was an outstanding 10/10 drive on American Me , who wasn't a favoured runner either, but she drove so well that she won easily in the end by over 2 lengths against some of NZ's top drivers and some handy horses (including Franco Indie) . Cameron Hart only about 25 years old as well and won 4 Group 1's last year , and I'm losing count this year . Is like Tony Herlihy at that age. Quality is great I reckon in both countries . Don't think there's more you can tell them really ? πŸ€” (as far as tutoring goes). just a case of keeping some quantity going as well as quality . A few more races for juniors only (like the first at Alexandra Park this afternoon) never hurt anyone and maybe just keep carding races like that helps out the youngsters. I see lately that Jeremy Young is using junior Monika Ranger on the handy mare Lady Of The Light instead of Maurice .....and it's reaping big rewards too . and she's winning a few. Hope they win again tonight in race 6. Best of luck to them .... helps make a driver when they can get confidence like that with drives that can Win.
  23. hahaha 😁 love your work Blackie. The Tute's are over in No time with that great advice . hope they pay us well and I'll be able to get to the bar first for refreshments knowing the 'new gen' of drivers are in great stead and knowledge of how to get to the finish line first !! Cam Hart (winning the Cup last week) must be tuned into my podcasts already? πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ we pulled Natalie Ras off driving the mini-trotters a few years back in QLD , then gave her a few wins (on 'Blacks A Fake' mainly) for a bit of confidence, then cut her loose on the Nz lads/lasses for a few years for a few more wins.... Has she backed off on them yet ?πŸ˜‰
  24. Think Forb's was saying the trainers 'consult' with so-called Scientific genius's Chief. The examples Forbury uses are good . Lance Armstrong was tested constantly and rigidly, but the cycling world was only brought down by a Team-mates confessions after years of Top level and 'Millions of dollars' with winning performances. They had scientific genius on the Cycle Squad. They DIDn't even care the 'Drug Cheat accusation was flying thick and fast every race. They had the Lab testing beat !! as well as the opponent. You can bet your bottom dollar ALL the cycle teams to this day have 'scientific Genius' as a main man of each and every team for them to back up day after day on those Grand Tours. Horses not so different. They have phases of milkshakes etorphine, caffiene, arsenic, etc etc, etc as the years go by. eventually testing catches up with the masking. JUST Like Armstrong the cyclist, some Trainers are 'Beating the testing Lab' just as much as 'Beating opponents horses on the track'. πŸ† I love the fact you defend each and every one of the 'Grimson' spectacular performances , feeling the full brunt of it in NZ now, as he beats the near best on the planet in Marky P in the Cup. Cam Hart is doing a great job steering them though. πŸ˜†.πŸ˜‰. might be just out-driving them ? πŸ€”πŸ˜‚
  25. C'mon Chief . you don't need a 'home lab' to tinker with... let's call it 'nutrition' for your horse with the supplements, additives and on occasion PED that are added to it. Forb's said this >>>>" I believe that this is what happened with Grimson he was approached by a scientist chemistry vet etc who has the real deal goods story over." sounds reasonably possible. Nearly All the galloping Trainers have science chemistry experts assisting. Chris Waller has special feed mixes. remember he had a 'contaminated batch recently' with steroids and 3 Positive swabs resulted . He was fined $30,000 and Not Disqualified like anyone else would of been, because he's Superman. They made the Feed Company take the wrap lol.... I find it interesting that a feed company has Steroids as part of their mix , or on the premises at all . must be the chemist lol... What cocktail you put in your syringe is even easier to do. Hey a bit like any human can tinker with 'health and performance ' for themselves , you tinker with the supplements you use daily. To run better. and you don't need a 'lab' to do that. Just a good scientist/chemist /doctor that gives you the latest goods/technology (and masking agent too is important these days)
